Arturo Vidal

I would call that a dream. I cant see us going for two supposedly world class wingers in the same window.

There's only one world class winger on that list.

I basically agree with him. I see us getting Vidal and one other player, either a CB or a winger. I doubt we'll get two world-class players so if Vidal is the midfielder, then the winger/CB will be Cuadrado/Rojo rather than Di Maria/Benatia.

The Warchest says differently

Wasn't too pleased with this one but thought I'd share it anyway :D.

Tear to the lateral meniscus. Exact same injury that King had. If you don't let it heal effectively, you can end up getting inflammation every time you use it for the rest of your career.
Ok so playing in the WC being 40/50% recovered (which has been suggested by chile national manager) is really not the best is it! Do we really want a player that has that hanging over their head especially as he likes a tackle!
I know that this injury could happen to anyone and at any time but blimey if it's the same as Ledley Kings injury is this purchase really a sensible idea? It just makes me very nervous because it's like they are really trying to get rid as well. I'm not doubting his ability or talent at all I'm just trying to think logically, don't burn me as a heretic or anything. :D

If it makes you feel any better a meniscus tear is pretty much the best you can hope for in a knee injury. There are generally 2 options, removing the meniscus - this allows you to play more quickly, but the long term prognosis is worse, or there is the option of a partial meniscectomy(sp) where they shave the torn bit off.

This second option takes longer to heal but should allow you to be at 100% after your recovery. It's the one Vidal went for. Unless you really, royally cock up the recovery and/or have naturally weak cartilage it is not a bad injury when compared to plenty of others. Ledley King had 3 out of his four menisci removed, he was an outlier, really.

I am worried that the are seemingly very keen to get rid. It's gonna have to have the finest medics have a good look at him, so he should be made to stay well clear of our medical staff. If he did sign and turned out a crock it could be the biggest mistake in footballing history, alongside signing Fellaini.

I think the Vidal deal is done and I feel very positive that we'll get either di Maria or cuadrado as well.

You have extensive knowledge on this subject, thanks for that! We will see what happens I just hope we make the right move either way, I trust LVG to do that.

We will have to wait and see what unfolds!

As much as I'd love we sign Vidal and that deep down I'm hoping it happens but it's looking like we have once again done a UTD and bottled it!

I wouldn't be suprised if that's our business done...

It's perfectly possible to make a full recovery from the injury after the surgery, even if you play on it too soon the way he did at the WC. But it is one of those that you have to make sure of. I definitely don't think it's a good reason not to go in for him at all, but it's an excellent reason to wait until he plays some football, or maybe do a very, very careful medical to check it.

The player in question and the reliable outlets that report on Juve have made me confident that this deal will happen.

I totally believe that as well, as soon as they do a final check on his knee or whatever he is ours.
I think we are in Cuadrado as well and I hope we get him.

We may end up signing him for a lot less than we thought. If his knees are fecked then I can't see us spending over 35million and I think Juve would take that. I think Juve judt want a nice sum for him.

If he's are fecked we don't be spending a penny in him

Brightonian think your being far to cautious regarding this type of injury. Full recovery would be expected now a days barring complications. I agree it is a lot of money and its got to be correct but in the majority of cases a full recovery is expected quite quickly. Would not expect any problems!

Full recovery would be expected, but if you get it wrong this injury can plague you for your entire career. See Ledley King.

Obviously we should still bid for him. I'm just defending the fact that if we are in for him we're almost certainly taking our time to make sure there haven't been any negative developments.

King was the exception rather than the rule and he had more than a lateral meniscus trimmed. But I get your point on due diligence for that kind of outlay.
