To be honest, even if all four parties came out with an official line that this is not going to happen and has never been even considered by anyone, myself and a few others would definitely put it down to smoke screen tactics to let Juve spend the transfer fee without the "You've got a shit load of money so give us more" tax.
If Vidal came out and said he's very happy at Juve and not moving, then I'd have to throw in the towel. If anyone else says it's not on, anyone in the media, anyone at Juve, even anyone at United including LVG, I'd still hold out some hope (although not a lot if LVG said he had no interest!).
Hope has been dwindling in this thread due to a lack of anything happening. All that matters is Vidal has been very sheepish about his future and is clearly open to a move (as far as I'm concerned anyway). He's been dodging questions about his future and supposedly mentioned our interest. Struggling to find the original source of that mind, [EDIT - Found the fecker -
It's the interviewer who mentions us by name] but I did find this in the process -

On top of this, the quotes coming from Juve seem like that they will definitely sell if the price is right.
After watching our pre-season games I'd be totally bemused if LvG decides we don't need a quality addition to the midfield 2. I would say an experienced CB is still a priority over another CM, but CM is second on the list for me. Perhaps you can argue this, saying full back cover is more important. That'll come down to LvG's opinions on Valencia/Young's potential as wing backs, and our youth options. However considering Woody has been giving it all that, there's no reason why we couldn't afford to improve each position.
Lastly, until we are actually linked with anyone, there's no reason to assume this is 'dead in the water'. I'm convinced we will sign someone and other than maybe Vermaelen (ffs...) we aren't being linked with anyone at the minute. If you're citing a lack of trustworthy English media links as your reason for thinking we aren't after Vidal, then you must think we're done for the summer. Fair enough if that's what you think, but I'm certain there are signings coming. They won't be on their way until after the tour, once LvG has finished assessing the current squad, just like he said himself.
