Arturo Vidal

But they haven't, apart from the odd snippet here and there. It hasn't even been close to a 'saga' within the British press.
It may not have been viewed as a 'saga' in the British press, but they've done plenty of reporting on it, both in their papers/news sites, and on Twitter. They reported it was now off, and later revived, so for it to have been off and revived it must have started at some point, no?

Nobody is actually serious on the VidalON side of things though, the VidalOFF brigade take it all very seriously indeed and come in demanding that the thread should be closed and everyone is idiots for thinking he might come here.

I find it fun to humour them.

True. Its all in a bit of jest. People have the common sense to see this deal is neither on/off mostly due to lack of any credible or consistent information.
What? Are you cnuts saying it's not on now?

There have been plenty of reports in the British press ranging from "a bid is imminent" to United aren't interested. They have reported foreign papers a lot but it's still been big news over here, it's just not much has been happening.

Won't believe anyone would want this transfer not to happen just because they predicted so. I can understand the logic behind it though, there's hardly been concrete news over any developments coupled with our constant shunning of any interest.
A sensible post, which you don't see that often in this thread..

This is what I posted a few months ago..
I think the situation with Vidal is much closer to that with Fabregas than with Mata or Van Persie..

Both Mata and Van Persie wanted out (and Van Persie refused to extend his contract with Arsenal). Vidal loves his club, has a long term contract, and he's actually a guaranteed starter unlike Fabregas. (he's also on the verge of winning the league with Juve)

I think we're wasting our time because we should be targeting more realistic targets (realistic doesn't necessarily mean lesser players, but players with realistic chance of wanting to move). If we end up getting him then the joke is on me, but I really don't think we can get him.
I would still love the joke to be on me, although to be honest I'm having some doubts now about his knee, considering we're going to spend a lot of money on him if we are to sign him. Hargreaves' name springs to mind.

And I may be in the minority here, but I do think we dodged a bullet with Sneijder a few years back, despite all the crave we had for him, because ever since our bid to sign him failed he has been on a free fall really, he was never the player we wanted again, and I don't think he would have deserved the high price people here were ready to offer for him (and needless to say we still managed to remain successful without him).

So yes we need a CM, yes Vidal is a good player, but with some doubts about his knees (and his age not being exactly the perfect age to buy a player), I would only be happy with a deal if the price was reasonable. £50m seems too much to me.

(Sorry to have interrupted the flow of the thread..)

possibly strootman or turan if not vidal.

No idea why we'd be looking at Turan based on all that LVG has said about us having too many number 10's.

Turan is more of a winger/attacking midfielder though, no? He doesn't seem to be a natural alternative to Vidal.

he can play back in CM. herrera was used as 10 by bilbao. Turan is one of these versatile MFs. Hes well able to switch between wing and CM.

Exactly.

So Mockney, we ask you again... would you like some of our Kool Aid?

I've got to say, all the denials seem incredibly lame and heavily caveated... "he will continue to be central to the club's plans until an obscene offer comes in"?

That's practically a for sale sign!
And it's up to us to make that obscene offer!

Seeing there is no sign of him coming here, I am assuming Andy mitten was right about LVG deciding against Kroos and Vidal.

He did say in the post match Madrid interview that we are not at full strength because "Fellaini and RvP" haven't joined the squad yet. Why buy midfielders when you've been winning even without your second most expensive midfielder in the squad? :wenger:

LOL, Van Gaal didn't reject Kroos or Vidal, that is plain insanity, he is definitely the anti Muppet if that turns out to be true though.

He never said Vidal was decided against. He said he has "seemingly decided against Vidal" very different, it was an opinion.

I just don't think he wanted to rush into buying a midfielder when he hadn't even looked at Herrera, Carrick, Cleverley, Fletcher, Fellaini and Anderson (lol). He's right too.

Now he's looked at them, you can fairly comfortably say that he'll be happy with Herrera and Fletcher, worried about Carrick's fitness and not impressed with Cleverley and is yet to see Anderson or Fellaini although it would be a big surprise if he saw anything in either of the latter two when it comes to the midfield two.

So with that in mind he'll surely go for a midfielder now and it's clear Vidal is available at a price and would want to come here. His agent certainly seems keen to move him on. We also know that Van Gaal is a big admirer.

This one ain't nearly over yet. I'm predicting a big media surge and it picking up pace again towards the end of the week.

No idea what makes ye muppets so confident

For me it is the way Juventus is publicly begging us to come buy the player. They are literally giving us instructions - naming bid amounts, saying the player must hand in the transfer request, saying he can (only) leave (if he wants to), distancing themselves from the decision. They are laying the groundwork for acceptance of the move by their fans.

That's all pointless if we don't make a bid and sign him. He wouldn't be the first attainable signing we don't sign for whatever reasons.

Just wish Vidal or United came out and said whether it's ON or OFF, getting really tedious reading Italian twitter and rag rubbish.
Hope some journo grows a pair and asks LVG very soon about our transfer plans. Getting really anxious about the lack of it

Log on daily to see four new pages and nothing new
I think if its just 4 new pages, its easy to understand that nothing has happened. if something happens there are 15-20 new pages at least.

This thing is dead for sure. Lot of people saying Juve or Vidal not completely denying it but it could be they are not that concerned about the rumours that much?

May be they don't give so many fecks to thinks about us muppets to completely deny it? Also I have noticed when the language is not English, there are probably 4-5 different translations which change the actual meaning by just twisting or replacing one or 2 words.

He is definitely top draw, definitely available, definitely willing to come, and seemingly we have little or no competition for him. Sign the fecker.

They've never outright denied it and ALWAYS admit a big fee would entice them to sell, almost shop window stuff?
