Arturo Vidal

Vidal is a Defensive box to box mid and Herrera could quite comfortably play attacking box to box, they would compliment eachother well in my opinion.

We could also do a 3 man midfield of Vidal, Herrera, Carrick with Carrick sitting deep when we play some of the bigger teams and Herrera the farthest up the pitch.

I'd go lower than that £35,-£40m, roughly what we were in for Fabregas last summer, and Mata in January

Plus it's well known that Juve want a winger hence their interest in Sachez but with so many other teams sniffing around Sanchez they might not get him due to being priced out. They've held a long interest in Nani so we could use Nani as bait.

Not terribly similar though are they, Suarez and Vidal? Surely if Suarez is off the menu someone like Cavani would be a natural alternative?

That kind of logic doesn't apply to them over there. They usually identify a start player and go all out for that player.

I'd give them Nani is a tip, to be honest.

I'm not so sure about offering Nani in exchange, if he goes we are stuck with Young, Zaha and Valencia as the only orthodox wingers. (Unless Woody already has Sanchez wrapped up)

Who knows, maybe we have Sanchez/Depay lined up already. Woody's moving chess pieces all over the show at the moment.

Vidal is the dream midfield signing. Don't see this as anything more than speculation at the minute though.

This could be one of those summer sagas that the media will also support so that they can fill pages and entertain readers. In truth there is no chance of United signing Vidal.

Agree, if we are gunning for Strootman in Jan, then it's unlikely that we would be chasing Vidal as well.

Dont know whyn people positing Carrick in line-up's....IF we sign Vidal (and thats a big IF) then Carrick aint getting in the team. I fully expect one of Mata, Rooney, Kagawa are going to be part of a midfield 3. Add that along with Herrera then i see no room for Carrick as a first pick - only as a squad player.

Van Gaal tried to sign him when he was at Bayern and i'm pretty confident Vidal would've been one of the targets that was discussed when Van Gaal met Ed Woodward. I believe we will bid but it remains to be seen if we're successful.

Fact or your opinion? There's always chance, however slim it might be. That's exactly what people would have thought a year before we signed RvP and Mata. Juve are in debt and that debt is growing. They need funds to fund their own transfer activity and have midfielders in abundance. They might very well be open to a generous offer which would explain Gazetta and Tuttosport's stories.

Vidal would be first choice and Strootman second choice. It's not rocket science.
That's not happening mate. You are aware Strootman would cost about 30m too? Hardly gonna spunk that money on someone already marked as second choice.

No need for Strootman if we get Vidal

Yeah that's my point, if we miss out on Vidal well then we'll go for Strootman as a second choice. Our interest in Strootman wouldn't put us off signing somebody like Vidal.

I meant one or the other, not both. Strootman would be second choice if Real Madrid piss on our dreams with Vidal.

Feck it, if Woody says the cash is there in January then sign him up too. Ok that's greedy, but I'd love either of them. Just concerned about Strootman's form post this injury.

If there is even a remote chance of us getting Vidal then i'm pretty confident LVG will pursuade Woody to go all out for Vidal.

Fair enough. Or just Juventus telling everyone to feck off. In all honesty I'm not convinced we're even in for Vidal, though I do think Strootman is likely.

You're right, its only my opinion. If Vidal does become available a lot of big clubs who are in the Champions League would be ahead of us in the queue, Real, Barca, City, Chelsea, Liverpool, etc.

When was the last time Liverpool challenged us for a transfer? they clearly don't belong on that list.

Liverpool's one season in the CL in four years doesn't put them ahead of us in the queue at all. No more than they'd jump ahead of Madrid if they failed to qualify one year.

Besides how many big players come onto the market to be chased by 5 of the worlds top football clubs? It rarely, if ever, happens like that. Clubs don't buy players because they become available. The only reason any club would be interested in Vidal is if they've identified him as someone who can solve a particular issue or hole they're looking to plug.

Barcelona are after Koke, Madrid after Kroos and i don't think they need or will buy 60 mio € midfielder when they are pretty stocked in mdifield and in need of striker, Chelsea are stocked in midfield so are Arsenal.

If we offer around €60m or as reported €45m+Nani i think he is ours.

Nani isnt worth 15 pence!

Stop getting my juices flowing again!

When Eddie met Louis

Sounds like a good romantic film that.

I am quite content if we don't sign another MF player. I think Carrick and Herrera will make an efficient partnership, it will probably be Carricks best partner in a couple of years.

I would rather hold out and replace Carrick properly next summer.
