Arturo Vidal

I really hate the term "blockbuster signing". Not sure why, but it just feels like a person is signed for the name rather than their skill when that term is used.

I have a feeling, we will bid through a third party again, like we did with Mata. Perhaps in this case his agent? Manchester United denying the rumours means nothing anymore, we did the same with Mata, we denied we had contact and made a bid. Clearly we are not briefing the English media anymore, which is evident in the lack of news from the likes of Ogden,Ducker,Jackson,Mitten etc.The Herrera transfer came out of nowhere, with foreign tabloids and papers mentioning it before the English media picked up on it and by then the deal was as good as done. I'm assuming if a deal for Vidal works out, it will be executed in a similar manner.

It's not going to happen unless he states he wants to leave, so far he hasn't and I don't think he will unfortunately
It is being reported that if Vidal asks to leave he can, and if that is the case then surely this is a great sign that Juve will sell him. I am starting to think this might just happen as this story could have been ended by Vidal long ago.

That doesn't make sense, Vidal said he won't be leaving, and then they (the club) said he won't be leaving unless he forces it..

That's not a great sign..

It's starting to feel like some game is being played in the background between Marotta and Vidal. The wording of Marotta's statements on Vidal are always along the lines of 'we'll only let him leave if he wants to go', as if to force his hand.

Presumably there would be financial benefits to Marotta & Juve if Vidal asks to leave (and Vidal would lose out obviously). Plus Marotta would get to save face in front of the Juve fans that he did everything he could to try and keep Vidal. It just comes down to how much Vidal wants the move.

Unless you're referring to the "no, no" he said when he was jumped in the airport, he hasn't said he won't be leaving at all. In fact quite the opposite. He's said on numerous occasions that he doesn't know where he'll be next season.

Being pestered by a reporter in to giving the only realistic answer he could give isn't the same as saying he won't be leaving. He's had weeks to issue an official statement that he's staying, so why hasn't he?

That's your opinion, but the fact is, it was a no.

Vidal's agent wouldn't end anything as it'll only make Juve value him more and consider higher wages etc
Do you really expect Vidal to announce he's leaving to a random reporter as he's leaving the airport?

It's all fronting.

Juve cannot be seen to be a selling club, losing their best player which is why they want him to ask for the move which means they can blame him to appease fans.

He on the other hand won't want to burn his bridges with a set of fans who idolise him. He's a club legend and will want to be able to return as that.

The comments about not knowing where he will be next season were all made pre/ during world cup, since then he's said "no, no" and his club have said he's not for sale unless he forces it, I'm not saying it won't happen, but that's not a positive sign.

Read above. The "no no" comments were nothing. More a case of "no, no (i'm not discussing that)".

That's wrong. Even in the interview where he said "no, no" or whatever, he said he didn't know if he'd stay at Juve.

Can we have some sort of thread ban rule on people who insist on posting utter garbage Twitter ITK's?

When did he say this? Are you making things up?

FWIW - I am not saying I don't think he'll move, merely that the evidence isn't positive as someone else suggested, I don't expect Vidal to come out and confirm it, but I also think that what's happened to date has made his position more concrete there.

Well this week has been dull.

Really don't think even if there is any truth in this it will wait until we return from America.

It's all as positive as it can be without him actually coming out and saying he wants to move to us.

Of course, there isn't anything to suggest it's negative.

However, after only being rejected a move last night, Schneiderlin has handed a transfer request today and there is already news about the clubs reaction to his transfer request, Vidal's club mentioned a week or so ago that he wasn't for sale unless he forced it, and while I realise he doesn't want to piss of the fans, he has had ample time to turn one in, I doubt we've had trouble letting him know our offer, so he's aware.

More concrete than a 3 year deal taking him up to 30 years old, that Juventus probably couldn't up his wages on even if they wanted to?

Juve hold the aces, he's signed up long term. They can sit on it for another season at least before they have to concern themselves with extending his deal, IF they want to keep him. This year is probably his peak value wise, so if they're ever going to sell him, this year would be their best chance to get as much money as possible. I really can't see a pay-rise at Juve on the agenda, why would they when they have him tied up to 2017?

People prefer to fuel speculation with yet more speculation, to convince themselves they've learned something new. This is why I avoid this sort of stuff, real news included like the missing Malaysian plane.
