I have noticed Raoul since i was promoted that you seem quite negative towards transfer rumors, do you just like to keep super realistic and not get caught up in all the muppetry?.

Its because 99% of them are nonsense. If you look at how we complete successful transfers, they rarely if ever are the result of months of rampant speculation. They usually happen out of the blue with minimal warning.

Don't you think there is more to it than that though? The 2 main reasons I think there's something in this are
1. Vidal saying he doesn't know if he'll be at Juventus next season and confirming interest from us and Real.
2. Conte leaving Juve 2 days into their pre season, citing a lack of energy as the reason. They had just lost out on Sanchez a week or two before leaving.

It's not entirely self-licking imo!

I think it has been discussed, but hasn't gone anywhere - which can probably be said of a number of players. The only reason some think there's more to it is down to their desperation for us to make a marquee signing.

Again, there is zero chance of this. Van Gaal has spent his last three interviews talking about how we have too many strikers. No relevance to your point. Just saying.

LvG was referring players who play in the hole - Kagawa, Mata, Adnan, Rooney etc..

Cavani would play right up front in RVP's position - out & out Striker role..

No, he wasn't. At a different point in one of the interviews he said 'I have four #10s'. But several times he has specifically said 'I have four strikers'.

And it also tallies with what we actually know and have seen. Rooney is obviously impressing. RVP is Van Gaal's favourite. Welbeck and Hernandez are both begin given game time. That's four strikers. Madness to buy Cavani.

I see where you are coming from, but this isn't necessarily true since SAF and Gill left. It wasn't true with Shaw, although they did keep Herrera and Mata quiet until close to their announcement. It seems certain we were after Kroos too, which would have been a drawn out, speculation filled affair.

Never heard him referencing Strikers with regards to the unbalance of the team!

He wants to play with 2 Strikers in every game - he said that. So given that Hernandez isnt up to it anymore & looks like he'll be off, that leaves us with Rooney, RvP, Welbeck & possibly Wilson / Keane also.

A Striker could be on the cards..

Even the speculation about Shaw was muted. First we were after him, then Chelsea, then a bit of silence.

There isn't a team in Europe that has three strikers of he quality of RvP, Rooney and Welbeck let alone Hernanez too and add a promising youngster to that in Wilson.... We're not buying a striker.

Vidal has been linked with Real and Liverpool. Depending which journo you listen to it's on, off or silence. Not so much 'muted' though, I'll give you that!

Southampton were adamant they wouldn't sell too at one time... Before the fire sale began.

Messi, Neymar and Suarez say hi.....

The club have gone out of their to brief local media that the deal is off, even though the likes of Ducker, Ogden and Mitten all initially said we're interested and monitoring his situation. The more Vidal talked in Chile, the louder our message to local media was that we're not interested. That has not stopped Chilean and Italian media fueling this. Vidal's comment's have also just pushed this thread forward. It could very well be that we've tried to keep it quiet our end but we can't control foreign media. Take Tuttosport, they've gone from there's now way ever this is happening to actually now saying that Juve would consider high money offers.

Monitoring the situation can be applied to most clubs monitoring most players and doesn't really speak to whether or not a club is legitimately on the cusp of buying a player. Vague signals from Vidal also aren't tantamount to our being interested in him, as nobody knows what his thought process is.

I'm fairly convinced no one in the media have a clue about this story but still continue to spam the Twittersphere with speculation because it helps them sell papers and get web site clicks, which feeds into random posters visiting this and the Twitter thread in desperate search for legitimate updates than don't exist.

Its going to be a long day tomorrow, you just know there is going to be a load of Twitter bollocks.

Just searched a bit on it, the day started with rumors that Felicevich could be in Turin tomorrow to present an offer of €50m from United to Juventus for Vidal.
Now (as Adnan just posted), he's arrived in Turin holding concrete offers (as i wrote in the Twitter thread: The journalist doesn't specify wether it's contract offers for Vidal or if it's offers to Juventus for his services, or if it's both)

Well his agent didn't squash the potential move, it looks like all parties want him to be held 100% responsible for leaving Juve.

"We can play better with this new system because we have four strikers. When we play 4-3-3 I have three strikers on the bench, and that is not good."

And that's one of two times he's mentioned it now.

So no, a striker is not on the cards. Thankfully.

Juventus-Vidal, you decide: The United offers 60 million
On arrival the agent of Chilean Fernando Felicevich, with the proposal of Van Gaal, manager of the Red Devils

JULY 28, 2014 - MILAN
Massimiliano Allegri carries a big doubt as Arturo Vidal will still be part of the team or will be sold? Tonight arrives Fernando Felicevich, procurator of the Warrior. It has a number of offers to be presented at Juve. The most important, it seems, is that of Manchester United who seems willing to guarantee to Juve 60 million for the card and Vidal a salary of around 8 million per year (plus bonus) for four seasons: in practice, the double than the Chilean perceives to Juve (contract renewed a few months ago).
CALCIOMERCATO
LIVE ALL ITALIAN COURSE OF DEALING

THE SITUATION - What will Felicevich Marotta encounter that probably will be tomorrow? Vidal that will not go away, looks great in Turin, but would like to earn the same amount proposed by the British otherwise accept the transfer. Juve can not possibly match the offer of Manchester United and even approach them. So it is normal to think of an assignment. Allegri would be happy confirmation of Arturo, but he also knows that Juve could not refuse an offer of 50-60 million. And that money would be invested in part to a prominent player and not just for an attacker to average level, ie the objective indicated by Marotta few days ago ...

How reliable is the Gazzetta? If we really have offered those numbers, I'd say the situation is fairly promising. That's good value for Vidal for both parties.

GdS have been all over the place when it comes to figures ranging from 45 to now 60 million. I'll reserve judgement til tomorrow I think everything will be clear either Vidal will say yes or no.
