Throw a blank chequebook at Juventus I say, seriously do so.

There is not more of a beast at CM than him in the middle. It's easy to forget that he is starting the World Cup coming straight off an injury, and has played at this intensity for 3/4 of the games so far. Me want so badly

Yup. For a team in our current state with our midfield, I really would not care how much we payed. Get on it Woodward.

Wow, this again?

There is no way on Earth we are signing this guy. Not a single chance in hell. I'd back a snowflake to run a marathon in hell over us signing Vidal.

If Woodward wants a marquee signing so badly, he doesn't need to look further than vidal. He might not come anyway but at least throw enough at juventus so they are are forced to consider it.

We thought the same about Mata. If we go for it and give Juve a great offer it could happen, who knows.

I don't think that Juventus will budge and they're a genuine force again. Mata's record fee would probably need to be doubled to even tempt them and we're probably not prepared to do that for one player.

I thought it was quite straightforward?

Let me rephrase then, there is a 0% chance of this happening.

Cheers Woody! That was considerably less dramatic and much easier to understand. Thank you.

Out of interest, what are the reasons you think it's so unlikely? I keep reading people saying there's absolutely no chance but I've not seen anything that implies it's so clear cut.

For example I believe he's on around £200k pw (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here) which we could surely improve upon for a player who would make such a massive difference to our squad. Plus I think the tax in the UK is slightly better than Italy, although again I'm not sure on this and don't think there's much more than a few percent in it either way. A few percent will no doubt make a decent difference when you're earning that much though.
Plus even though Juve are in the CL, they are never going to win it realistically. I think he stands more chance of winning the CL in his career at United than at Juve. It's all well and good wanting to compete in the CL, but what's the point unless you're going for the win?
Then there's the attraction of playing in the PL, one of, if not the, best league in the world. Much better than Seria A anyway.
Lastly I keep reading people saying his Juve tattoos are a sign he'll be a lifer there. Surely these could just be mementos of his achievements during this life and career though?

I agree with all you say. My thinking is that if there is even a whisper that he's in line to leave then someone else will come in and take him who can offer CL football and a realistic chance of winning it. I'm mainly think Real Madrid here, but they're not the only ones.

Oh thank feck we have someone who knows exactly how our transfer activity will go from now on, cheers mate *big thumbs up*.

Oh how very drole.

I'll tell you what, if we sign Vidal this summer then I will never ever express any doubt about whether we can sign a player ever again.

I'm sure there'll be competition from big teams but I'm also sure we can offer everything every other club can except for CL football for this season.

What we can offer that other big clubs can't, is that he'll be the main man in the centre here and will have a guaranteed starting spot. No risk of being a bench warmer or part of squad rotation.

In terms of transfer fee and wages I think we can beat every other big club too, simply because he's worth more to us at the minute than any other club.

I'm not saying that we will sign him this summer, or in fact ever. It's the fact you have the balls to say we will never sign him which brings out the most sarcastic side of me. How many people said we had 0% chance of signing RvP or Mata a year before we did, now look like right twats. The word never just pisses me off in instances like this, because Juve are not rolling in it, and if they get a big money offer from someone then we should not be surprised to see them take it and shuffle him off, be it us or anyone else who sign him.

Can you really see Vidal and Sanchez knocking about the arndale when they are not training, its just not gonna happen.

They both played great tonight and in some ways it was a more comprehensive victory than Holland's win over Spain! It will be really interesting to see the final game in the group.

I don't know about taxes but Vidal is on €4m a year at Juventus (£3.5m) that is not even £100k pw

Yes we could drastically improve his wages and in the end we would prove to be a beter bigger club than Juventus with more chances on winning the CL, but with ofcourse one important detail, we aren't even in it next season. That whilst with Juventus he'll be in it and he'll be much more likley to win silverware aswell (Juventus have won Serie A for like 3 years in a row now). Also he loves Juventus, this are his words from 2013:

"I have received offers from other teams, but my family always plays a decisive role in the decisions I make," he added.
"I see that my wife and my son are very happy in Turin. And then the value of Juventus is enormous.
"I have tattooed three stars and the two Scudetti won with Juventus because Italy is now in my heart, as is this club."

His family is happy there, he loves Italy, he loves the club and those tattoos prove a sort of devotion to the club, surely they are mementos of his achievements, but he also said he wanted those mementos on his body because he felt a really strong personal connection to the club. Does this all mean he is a lifer at Juventus, not nesc, but it doesn't look like he is searching for a move or would press for a move. If a club came in with an offer that Juventus would accept and would appeal to Vidal, he could move, especially because there is alot of room for financial improvement on his wages. The big problem is that United stands no chance at being that club, simply because he has other beter alternatives ligned up that will appeal alot more to him and will also be able to outbid us. Ofcourse I'am talking about Real Madrid and Barcelona, Vidal is very high on their list and if he moves, it is likley it will be to one of those two clubs.

The simple problem is Juventus doesn't want to sell at all, even playing hardball with Real and Barcelona. Vidal isn't pressing for a move and if he ever does move it will most likley not be us and definitley not this summer. We have 0 attraction for such a player, bar the financial imporvement, which he would also get at Real and Barcelona. We play no CL, we are in position were we might not compete for the title for a number of years, in fact bar the financial side of things we would be a step down for somebody like Vidal and couldn't picture one good reason why he would even consider making that step down when he has the chances to make a step up to Real and Barcelona.

This player is simply out of our league, thinking anything else is just delusional and will only end in muppet tears. Nothing is impossible ofcourse, but signing Vidal this summer would be one of the most improbable moves imagineable this season. Convincing him to abandon his beloved Italy and club, delocating with his faimly (who love Turin), missing CL football and giving up on probable silverware for the coming seasons and putting down moves to Real or Barca just to come play for us...NOT A CHANCE IN HELL, he has 0 reason to chose for us, absolutley 0 and he has plenty of reasons not chose for us, all valid ones and all good ones.

So apparently he said this after the Spain game:

"Will I stay at Juventus? I don't know."

Vidal is coveted by teams across Europe, and the "Old Lady" must be slightly concerned by this report in Italian daily Tuttosport, which quoted him as saying, "Will I stay at Juventus? I don't know."

Vidal goes on to say he is more concerned with the World Cup, which is music to Transfer Talk's ears because it backed Chile each way at 40-1 odds at the start of the tournament.

vidal would be like the ultimate dream midfield signing now. he was just everywhere covering all over the pitch. it has been a while since the game has a world class box to box midfielder and this guy might just be the only one right now. simply cannot think of any other box to box monster like him at this moment.

No you wont. You will just latch onto the next transfer rumour and pretend to know the outcome of that one too.

Never got why people insist on passing their guesses off as fact. Its just a bit nobbish. We all have opinions on if a move will or will not happen but nobody is impressed with people who try to pass it off as fact. As if 'man in pants sat at computer' has the inside track.

What I want to know is, how did Juve fail to get out of their CL group with Vidal and Pogba in CM? The rest of their team must be absolutely shocking.

Pirlo, Marchisio, Tevez, Llorente, Buffon, Barzagli, Chiellini, Giovinco.. I have no idea either.

Would cost £50m probably as he is the best all around CM in world football at the moment.

If he goes anywhere it'll be to Madrid. Unfortuntely we do not have the same clout in terms of transfers as they do even in the Fergie/Gill days let alone now.

This, sadly

I think with LVG on our side it gives us a chance to get the most elite of players.
The question is Woodward up to the task of offering them (and their agents) financial packages that would be very difficult to turn down?
I firmly believe that deals are there to be done, we just have to show real initiative.

Deals aren't going to happen until after the WC. I've have a sneaky suspicion that LVG told the club to hold off on deals until then. His own performance there managing Holland may give us additional clout when signing players.

£50m would be WAY better spent on him than lets say Cavani.... if Woodward wants to make a marquee signing then look no further!

I am in the same thinking that we can still attract really good players but to get the absolute cream of the crop, the UCL thing might be an issue, especially if a bunch of teams come in like vultures.

£80M and Juve would wrap him up for us as well, might as well if this mythical £200M exists him Shaw and there's still some left for a central defender.

If a bunch of teams feel they can come in fine...we just have to splash the cash this summer like we never have before to get the top tier players...a la PSG, Monaco, City and Chelsea.

No Champions League might be a hindrance but that is nothing skilled negotiators (with money) cannot circumvent.

How do you even come to a conclusion like this based on the fact they failed to get out of a CL group? It's also funny how Pogba and Vidal are God's in your eyes and are excluded from criticism it seems.

Juve has a good team, they just underperformed in their CL group like we did not a long time ago ;)

I think there is a chance that Vidal could leave Juve, but then he will probably join Barca or Real :(

Shit happens (similar to United not being able to qualify on an easy group in 20111-2012). Their team has a lot of quality and is one of the most balanced teams in Europe.
