It's really not that difficult.

Ignore British press who are being kept in the dark.

Listen to Chilean press who are talking directly to Vidal and the Italian press who are being briefed by Juve on what is happening.

OR

Ignore British press because they're reporting negative stuff which we refuse to believe.

Listen to Chilean press because they're reporting stuff that makes the muppets moist

Just wait until a proper reliable website (Sky Sports News or BBC News Sport) reports it, which won't take more than an hour or two when something noteworthy happens.

Yep. That's when I'll start believing. When there's a yellow ticker running across the screen saying "Man United have bid £40 million for Vidal". Then I'll get excited.

None of these press articles mean jack shit - papers need to sell and the journos will conjure up any old stuff to ensure they do. Doesn't matter if it's an English, Chilean, Italian or bloody written on the moon - they've all got the same agenda.

If the Chilean press know about all these bids we are making, why doesn't the BBC, with all its resources know about and report them? We should boycott the licence fee until they pul their fingers out and start earning it!

I'm not giving much credence to anything coming out of the British press because they've changed their tune so many times. At least the Italian and Chilean media are consistent.

Don't forget that the British media were reporting out interest in Vidal for quite some time, before they were clearly all told at the same time that there has been no contact, and a flurry of articles came out. Add players like Konoplyanka, Depay, Hummels, etc to the lengthy list of players the British press have linked us with and then gone quiet about. They clearly don't know shit.

We always seem to let major transfers drag on until it's too late. Sometimes we get used by world class players but other times we attempt endless grinding negotiations that drag on long enough for the potential signing to change his mind and go elsewhere

The BBC generally isn't one to report based on rumour alone. There are no facts here.

heating up a bit now according to the media
You could get a job on QVC. "Come on, guys, you don't want to miss this deal. They're at the lowest price ever, and not only because no one has ever sold one one of these. Only 42,000 units left and when they're gone, they're.....well, we'll probably just order another 85,000 units from a sweat shop in China. Come on, pick up that phone and get dialling."

Giulio Tedeschi, FIFA agent, spoke yesterday in Europe microphones Game, Sport Cadena on recent signings of European teams.

Manchester United:
"The English team is the closest to gain the services of Vidal and would be with him on the 2nd week of August."

He did. He also rowed back from that quite a bit a day or two later. Obviously that could be down to him being asked to say nothing about it, or being worried that he's been led by the nose by his source, or even just having had his original story corrected by someone he trusts, but the last time he spoke about Vidal it was considerably watered down, IMO.

I agree. However he kept stressing on numerous occasions is that second video that the club really wanted to keep everything close to their chest. It sounded to me like he was told not no talk about specific names. He was quite adamant in his previous video about United being in touch with Vidal.

We've made denials / briefed the press it's wide off the mark
Juventus have said no contact made.

Most reports come from Chilean and Spanish media, some in Italy.

My take: His agent is briefing that Vidal wants the move, by doing this it makes United aware and pushes Juventus under pressure. Vidal not committing to them in his interviews says a lot. The range of prices says to me they want United to act fast for the benefit of Juve to spend the money.

My take is ( even though it's probably just wishful thinking ) that we've got the deal with Juventus but they've asked us to keep low profile for some time with it. They've just lost Conte and I suppose that some fans ( most ? ) are pissed off about it. Now, if they've announced that Vidal is gone and they've got, say, 40 mln quid for him, then the prices of their transfer targets would increase by additional couple of milions because clubs would know that they've got some cash on their hands. Juve are already spending the money, buying some central midfielders so yeah, wishful thinking, but still.

Christ we're really scraping the barrel for Vidal-To-United 'news' now

Interesting if that agent is real. It would line up very nicely with LVG saying he will give everyone 3-4 weeks to prove themselves.

What media?

Sorry. Work caught up. The irish independent say we bid 39 million. Liverpool are reported to be looking at him. There has been more today than the last few days is all im saying. (he hasnt being bought or anything. apologies for wording)

As you say, its all opinions, but i think you'll be disappointed. Utd are continually denying it so i think we have to move on from this one unfortunately.

Gone very quite on the Vidal front now. I don't think this is happening.

i would concur. vidal wants the move. and they are engaging in tit for tat verbal price warfare

He's unreliable it seems and might not even be a agent. Check the Twitter thread.

We don't know if it was ever happening to be fair. Couple of random sources in Italy and Chile and that's it.

United also briefed the English media that we aren't in for Herrera even after the story broke in Spain. Just saying.

Hello...just wanted to post in the most happening thread on the Caf.

So what other Arthur's have played for Man Utd then?
