Arturo Vidal

See, I keep seeing stuff like "Vidal is 2nd best in the world after Modric" etc, but I don't really get it.

I don't doubt that Modric is one of the very best in the world, possibly the best, at what he does, but is it the same job as Vidal? Admittedly I don't watch Madrid that closely, but the Modric I remember from Spurs and what I've seen of Madrid couldn't be classed as box-to-box, hard-running, hard-tackling etc. Much more a (better) Carrick-style player, controlling tempo using technical passing skills etc... Am I wrong?

No different to comparing Rooney to RvP. Different ways of approaching similar roles.

Anyone worried about Liverpool supposedly being in for him with the Suarez money? Or complete horse shit from the Mirror?

Complete shite from Mirror. As it stands, British media have absolutely no idea what's going on regarding our transfers and we should probably get used to it.

Not a hope in hell that Vidal would want to go there over United. They couldn't touch the wages we can offer him for a start. Suarez was their top earner on £150k.

Not to mention the fact that despite having UCL football they are still only filling their squad with players you'd expect from a Pot 3 club.

Besides they should be in for a top class forward to replace Suarez and I think they spend a lot so far as well - 20m on Markovic, 10m on Can, 4m on Lambert, 25m on Lallana. I don't think they will splash 40-50m on a midfielder without bringing in top striker first.

How many strikers do they need though? Lambert, Sturridge, Remy - surely they'll look at defenders next? I hope they don't though!

Fixed it for you

Sod off.

There's a difference. Hes actually signed 2 players this time before getting on the plane. Also, the club said he left on 'general business'. Last year it was 'urgent transfer business' which Moyes couldn't wait to tell everyone about.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I think Remy is yet to be concluded?

Lambert and Remy will most probably have part time roles, agreeing terms with Remy is after they sold Borini, so they lost 2 strikers so to speak.

They will still need another one.

As for defenders they are in for Lovren and probably they will get him for around 20-25 at least that's the quoted price.

I've gone from being 40% certain he's coming to 60%. I think its more likely than not he'll be a United player now, too much smoke without fire etc and Juve going from a stance of "not for sale" to "we'll consider large bids" tells me they're trying to soften the PR blow of losing him.

Evra joining Juve
Woody flying home (not long after confirming transfers being arranged in the background)

Its all aligning.

Doubt Pool are after any midfielders - though they should be, arguably. They bought Can and they've got plenty of options in the middle now (quality of options another matter).

If they're going to splash the cash, as it were, I'm pretty sure their interest in Sanchez is an indication as to what sort of marquee player they'll go for (if they're in for one at all, that is).

Blacklisted, but he's staking his reputation in it. Saying that there's no "backtracking" when people called him out. So let's all wait and see.

The guy that wrote the Mirror story about Kroos signing for us went on Radio and was adamant that he was right. Kroos is somewhere in Madrid now..

I cant decide whether I want Vidal and Hummel's to be presented together or individually.

We don't do Madrid/Barca style presentations anyway.

It would be the same few photos and signing photographs and a presser at best (Though not sure about that as LVG is on tour).

I think you misunderstood me mate, I wasn't comparing the two in terms of ability, role or even who is better in general. I was just jokingly adding Modric to the bizzar rumour that Vidal isn't our first option, I'm positive he is because the only other possible candidate would be Pogba and I can't see us splashing 70 odd million on him. (Plus Schweinsteiger isn't leaving Bayern)

Thing is Juve never had that stance. The thread title was misleading after what Juve CEO, Moratta said. Moratta didn't say he's not for sale. They said they didn't put him up for sale and HOPE to hold onto him but that it comes down to the player. That was the gist of what Moratta said. Add that to what Nedved said and it seems that they know full well we're going to come in with a high bid for Vidal. If Tuttosport are to be believed then we've done exactly that now.

Not willing to stake my Caf account on it like Pexbo, but I have a gut feeling this'll be wrapped up by Monday. The way I'm feeling, there'll be strong rumours on Friday, then nothing over the weekend. We'll all have a breakdown, and it'll be concluded on Monday.

It's going to be a good week.

Or I'm going to look a fool.

Probably the latter :nervous:

I am wondering if what Edward said about him looking at what fans want or say and that he mentioned that fans don't care about the 90% other work he does but only the transfers would mean that we will sign Vidal.

Surely even the guy who runs the twitter handle for the club must have told Ed about the countless number of replies like " Vidal", " Where is Vidal?", "Sign Vidal" to any sort of tweet these days.

Don't read too much into that. The club will sign the right players that the manager wants, not just because loads of muppets mention their name on Twitter. It may be Vidal that we are in for, but to suggest that opinions by fans on social media will affect out transfer activity is ludicrous. At least I hope so anyway!

Really hope he signs for us, why can't transfer be more straightforward. We either buy him or we don't and it doesn't stretch into a bloody saga. Most of the sagas have been a disappointment with the likes of Thiago, Hazard, Sneijder slipping through our fingers. Naturally I love the excitement that it generates but I would really prefer it, if signings could be more of how we signed Nani and Anderson instead of sagas like Hargreaves's. Well we can only soldier on like seasoned muppet veterans in this transfer saga...

He is still on holiday. Maybe when he returns it will be straight forward?.

Stop reading the press and stressing yourself out, it will all become clear soon.

Do we have any clue as to when he's back, agreed Giggs was even quoted as saying with regards to transfers something similar too ''players from the WC then require holidays before making any choices slowing things down''

I thought at the time he was referring to Shaw but maybe Vidal too plus others.

Not stressed out, just a bit tired of it. I try to ignore it and not become involved in it due to our previous transfer dealings when it comes to big names but it just becomes harder to not get sucked into it, with Twitter especially...

Thats oboviously a given. Ed is not going to sign Neymar or Rodriguez just because the fans beg him too.

But Vidal is exactly the type of player we need and plays in the posistion we need strengthening.

Unfortunately big name players at established clubs can be hard to buy. Juventus are reluctant to sell so it was never going to be quick and easy.

Just look at how much Rodriguez has cost Madrid. 70m?!!? It's ridiculous. We need to be patient but I am confident this will happen. When Vidal returns I think it will all become clear, but until then the "will he, won't he" will continue.

Put it this way, this time next week we'll probably know what's going on when Vidal is back at Juventus.
