Arturo Vidal

It was very fishy the way there were continuous soundbites from Juve that he isn't for sale and he is going to be in Italy this season.

It was extremely foolish and naive on his part to come out of his injury rehab early just to play a few minutes at the world cup. Knee injuries are serious and you need to give time for them to heal. Will be extremely gutted to see a top top player lose his skill and become a shadow of his former self because of such a bad decision.

Gutting for him, we're probably not going to go in for him in future based on this.

He didn't just play a few minutes he played the majority of every game and alongside Sanchez their best player. You may never get another chance to play at a world cup so while people may differ on what they would have done it certainly wouldn't have been an easy choice.

He was clearly not at his best and now it seems he wasted the last few glory years of his career. I will still wait to see if this is as serious as it sounds.

Watching France v Spain the now and Pogba is running the show. Let's bring him home boys. Arturo had his chance.

Ya every time I see him playing it pains me to think he is exactly what we need and we once had him on our books!

£60m and only next summer. Then again, he would probably got to Real Madrid next summer as their next 'star signing'.

I'm sure Vidal was under no illusions about being at his best at the World Cup coming back so quickly after surgery but the choice was his. If someone told you it's possible to play but you could only be at 75% and risk injury what do you do? Remember it could be the only chance you get to play in the competition. In an age were footballers get slated everywhere for being mercenaries it's somewhat refreshing to see someone being willing to put their body on the line in games they earn nothing for to help their country.

Aye, got Real Madrid written all over him, we can just wait for their next summer cast offs, Modric, Bale, Ronaldo?! You just never know with them.

Ffs, I was hoping we would pick him up in January. Really, really sad, I feel so sorry for him, he clearly didn't want to stay in Turin either by the looks of things.

I hope he gets well soon, he really is a rare breed of footballer and exceptional talent.

If this is true then it was a great call by the club to not go in for him.

Vidal may probably never be the same player again considering the dynamism and agility he used to display, which is a shame.

Let's agree to differ on it then. I think it was naive and foolish by putting your career on the line for playing in one particular tournament. God forbid but the repercussions for taking that risk would be severe. Agree with you that Vidal was fully cognizant of what he was getting into.

I rushed back from a knee injury as well and ruined what was probably going to be a fantastic career (honest). I know how the lad must be feeling.

I feel bad for arthuro, but this vindicates LVG and woodie IMO.
Blind will do the job for us at cdm....really looking forward to this season :)

That's not good news. Hope he gets back to full capacity.

So, El Mercurio was right from the beginning ?

Needing an another op to sort things out isn't terrible news in the grand scheme of things. An ACL reconstruction is about as serious as it gets with knees and Falcao and Strootman have gone under the knife for that recently. We signed one of them and might still sign the other.

Sounds like we were right to pull out this summer though. This news (if true) will have knocked millions off his price by January and he'll be no use until the second half of the season.

Luckily we pulled out, hope he recovers though.

Hope he recovers and takes his time. Really need to bring the Pog home next season.. We should start tapping up from now!!!

As good as pogba is, he isn't worth anywhere near £60m, it would be nuts of us to pay that to get him back.

The way that prices are nowadays, he probably is. 21 years old and not many midfielders in the world better than him. The Spanish midfielders couldn't get near him tonight.

I'd pay between £50-60 million for him in a heartbeat. Imagine him in our midfield for the next 10 years? It would look like a bargain over time especially with the way transfer fees have gone these days.

I would be inclined to agree with you, but with the agent he has, he wouldn't be here for 10 years.

 I'm surprised you lasted so long.

Me too! I actually genuinely had no intention in coming back as a poster but reading the Caf and not posting is bloody difficult. Then I saw the Vidal news and it was just fate :D

Have I missed your thread/post about the vidal transfer?
was actually looking forward to that!

I kinda explained it in the thread and to a few by PM, really not that interesting, time to move on from it all, Strootman is next.

Looks like we've dodged a (very expensive) bullet. Poor fecker.

Hopefully this injury doesn't hamper him, but he's still only 27, which is still young for a central midfielder. Still hope he'll end up here some day.

lol all the Pogba coming home things.

60m for a player we had and let go for 300k compo /facepalm

We didn't really let him go. He was offered a contract and chose to leave. He's not our player anymore. He would be a fantastic addition to our midfield problems and would command a fee in that region. If we wanted him we would pay it. Simple as that.

I'm pretty convinced now that Juventus had concerns over his knee as well and were trying to flog him.
