Television Arrow | Ending on Season 8

That's not a bad shout actually. And didn't you hear the guy, Subaru doesn't exist, he is Toyota now.

HAH

I'm also wondering whether he'll be 'resurrected' pretty much as the Arrow, with little to no Oliver Queen left in him. Ruthless. Cue story arc about rediscovering his humanity or whatever. That's just a little musing on my part though.

Would be interesting. And if they did that, I wonder if they'd have the balls to do something big, like having Oliver kill Merlyn in front of Thea or something crazy comic-bookish like that. Then again, Barrowman is great, wouldn't want to lose him, so nvm scrap that idea

So where do we apply to be writers?s

EDIT: Is it wrong that I prefer Oliver when he's a murderer?

I did too actually. I miss the days of him storming some bad guy's hideout, straight-up killing 5 random henchmen in the process.

If DC want to expand their universe the way Marvel is then Batman needs to be at least suggested in the show.

I wouldn't count on it since they are separating the film and television universes right.

There were jokes about an arrowcave and arrowmobile there, from Cisco (not sure in which series though, but in one of those crossovers)

John Barrowman basically confirms that he was on the mountain, but we didn't see that scene. So it was either cut or Merlyn rescues Oli because reasons.
Maybe Merlyn knows where the Pit of Lazarus is from his time with the League?

Really hope they use this as a chance to reinvent the character a little bit.

Finally caught up, but that ending wasn't as brutal as I had expected.
I expected Oliver to get a bit of a beating first, and for him to nearly beat Ra but then get a nasty quick stab in him. Have to wait and see in Jan I suppose

There was a 'Wayne/Queen Consolidated merged' headline in some newspaper from the future in The Flash.
And then Ray Palmer changed the name of Queen Consolidated which was weird. Maybe it was just that one building, or they change it back... Anyway...

1) Merlin took a long time before setting Oliver on this ritchous path. I guess he had to wait for Raz Al Gal to come after him, but it was still a long plan in the waiting, patiently waiting to go.

2) Merlin should have known that Oliver was hopelessly outmatched. It makes me think that he wanted Oliver to get killed, but he could have done it himself, and all indications point to Raz Al Gol resurrecting him and not Merlin.

3) Arrow, as a show, could really use a few episodes without Oliver. We've had 2.5 seasons and most of the character pairs have had about 1 lot of interactions. Diggle should be friends with Thea himself, but isn't. Felecity could be friends with Laurel, but have had limited interaction. Obviously Ray will try to fill the mantal. And it would be nice if all the characters got on the same page. I don't care at this point that detective lance doesn't know who the arrow is. And he doesn't know Sarah is dead.

4) I'm getting major flashbacks to buffy. I'm fully expecting ray to act as the buffybot, arrow to be all sulky and think something is wrong with him. Possibly he will start banging dead shot

I agree with your points except for 3. I'm not sure if less Oliver would make it more interesting right. My favourite part of the show is the arc that he has taken over the past 2 and a bit years. In fact this season we arguably have had less Oliver already and it's been the weakest season yet, despite the addition of interesting characters like Ra's and Palmer.

Can't wait for it to return in Jan. I think Ra's killed Oliver and intends to revive him and train him in the league of assassin's so that he can properly take on Merlyn in the future and Merlyn planned for Oliver to get revived so he can find the location of the lazurus pit and revive Tommy.

I'd go with that. Well done, Sir.

Didnt read that last line until Markomu quoted it. Excellent theory. If they aren't going with that storyline, they should! Get Colin Donnell on the line!

But then, would Oliver resurrect Tommy or Sarah? Or both? But then does that not ruin death completely.

Oliver probably wouldn't. Besides, the lazurus pit is affected by how long the person has been dead and even if it manages to bring them back alive, they'll be a shell of their former selves.

Merlyn is desperate enough to do it as you could tell he genuinely loved his son and he's probably also planning to use his son as a proxy to get his wealth and power back. Thea may be his daughter, but I don't remember her actually being announced as his daughter in public, so there are limits to what he can do to get control of his company back with her.

Interesting thought, reminds me a bit of the soulless Sam from Supernatural though... Not that I mind, that was great stuff. But it would fit, especially since Oliver struggling with his darker side is a major theme all over the show so far.

ohhhhh, that is good!

It is good. I think the fight went down as it should have gone down at this point. In fact, Ra's made that point, saying Oliver lasted longer than most.

Watched the fight yesterday and Ra;s saying ill take your blades once youre through with them (whilst unarmed) was pretty badass.

Also regarding the flashbacks, I might be the only one who likes them. Mostly because they are linked to the episode to explain Olivers, they only last around 5 minutes and it works as part of a prequel without taking over the main story.

My brother got me Season One on DVD for my birthday (back in July). Took me a while to get into it, but today I've watched six episodes of Season Two (which I got for Christmas) back to back. This is great!

Now I'm leaving this thread and not returning until I'm caught up. I've managed not to read anything.

GLad its back. Anybody watch it?

I enjoyed it. I know a few people on here dont like the flashbacks but I think it leads directly into current day and gives a bit of background for motives so thats cool. I thought Laurel was a bit too good as Black Canary, how long has she been training for to be able to do that?

And where did she get the equipment from ? I don't remember if it was covered in one of the previous episodes.

I think the equipment was from Arrow's basement where he operates from. There was a scene near the end where Laurel sees Sara's wig, mask, et al after Diggle tells her that Oliver is dead.

Speculation
I originally thought that Oliver will be brought back using the
Lazarus's Pit

But with the heavy focus on Alpha and Omega. Oliver could well be brought back using these some how.

Yeah she nabbed it from Arrows lair.

BTW, I think Vinnie Jones will be a good villian haha

I like Vinnie, I don't like Laurel as Black Canary though, as obvious as it was that it would be finally her, she's not up to the job imo. Wondering how Merlyn and Thea's plot goes on from here.

Couldn't he have stayed dead for a couple of episodes!

Well I prefer Vinnie as this guy than juggernaut!

Yeah, showing that some of the stuff Oliver does is not unrealistic after all haha

How the feck did that horse Laurel learn to suddenly fight? Ruined a decent episode that did. I really dont like her character

That was my only gripe with the episode. Its not like there was a gap of months between the last ep and this (think it was three days). For her to fight like that was just unbelievable.

Well after all she's trained boxing and fighting with Wildcat so it's not all that unnatural, is it?
Plus she didnt really fight did she? She used some sort of thing to blow the glass off a car and then wack a guy.

Didnt she already do this too?

She used the little screechy device that Sarah used.
