Excellent. I'm torrenting it but I'm going to see them at the O2 soon so that's my contribution.
They played Electric Picnic last night, I was a bit disappointed. Not liking the new stuff and he came across as a bit of a tosser.
I remember when humbug came out, I said Alex needs to become an arrogant bastard for them to be a great live band. He's got the right mix now.
I'm so happy. This album's excellent. Has that little dip in the middle (like most do - Riot Van, Only Ones Who Know), but it's so good. Turner said they'd taken inspiration from hip-hop which threw me a bit as I can't do with that; it's almost anti-rock. But it works so well, the beats complement the songs really well, another top album.
And we might sign a midfielder!
I hear a lot of Dr.Dre influences and a few other hip-hip ones I can't quite place yet.
Drake and Lil' Wayne should be the other ones. On R U Mine: "There's a few references for people to pick up on in there – 'Some Velvet Morning', Tracy Island. Those references are just me being a smartarse...That particular bit is like the thing Lil Wayne and Drake do. We've been listening to a lot of their stuff recently. I like that thing they do where they talk about something backwards, so they talk about it but then say what it actually is on the next line. It's hard to explain but I guess it's a little nod to that idea. So I say, 'I'm a puppet on a string', just before mentioning Tracy Island. That's what it's about – uncertainty."
Their best.
I'm sure I remember Alex Turner saying he was fan of Outkast and specifically the song Ghetto Musick.
He said years ago that Roots Manuva was a huge inspiration.
I'm half way through the album and that's my favourite so farArabella is a fecking tune.
I Want It All I really like too, but it sounds familiar at the beginning and I've no idea where from.
This album is so diversified within itself, not to mention it's completey different from what they've done so far, that it makes me think Alex Turner could basically try to play football and be better than Messi. He's semi-God, they've pulled off so many different sounds that it's really impossible to tell where their limit is. Amazing, anyone who tries to complain about the sound of this album deserves to have their ears cut off.I love Mad Sounds. It's a bit Velvet Underground. And Jesus and Mary Chain, though I'm not entirely sure why it makes me think of them.

The exact two bands I was thinking of. It's the base line and the "yeah, make you get up" bit that reminds me of JAMC, a bit like "Come On" from Stoned & Dethroned.

It's probably my least favourite track as well but it's actually still pretty good, that's what's amazing about this album - you can basically get into all songs on it. Fireside for example isn't even within the top half of my favourite tracks on it and I absolutely love the sound of it.One For The Road is probably my least favourite on the album, though "From the bottom of your heart / the relegation zone" is a nice line.

Yep, Fireside and Snap Out Of It are probably my next least favourites, but they both feel like growers. They also sound different enough from the rest of the album to still be interesting.
The singles, Arabella, No. 1 Party Anthem and Knee Socks are the stand outs so far. Knee Socks is seriously catchy.
