Music Arctic Monkeys

That's a shitter, but can you not just change your card security question when you get on to that section? I've changed it before without any problems.

I entered the password and variations a few times and it locked it for transactions for a period of time.
I was certain it would be one of two passwords, obviously I was wrong!

I saw them last night at a festival in Gdynia, they were amazing. They played the same songs they did at Glastonbury and it was probably the best performance I've ever seen at a festival. What would have made it even better was me not getting food poisoning in the middle of the show which made me miss two or three songs. Still, I managed to catch 80% of the gig.

That was fecking ridiculous. Nothing has ever sold out that quick. Thousands gone in seconds. Ticketless.

Happens all the time when a big band anounces a tour and there's only limited dates...especially directly after headlining Glasto...only 1 date in London especially was never going to last more than a few minutes. Thinking maybe they'll add in a couple more dates?

I failed miserably on getting any tickets but my girlfriend puled through by getting 2 through work. Still had 4 other people I was trying for.

Yeah I thought it was quite poor, but they're busy touring the world now. I thought they'd put more dates on, but this UK tour is sandwiched right between USA and Europe. The only way I can see it changing is if they decide to do another UK tour next year. It's a bit like Peter Kay's last tour. The demand was so spectacular he ended up having to tour. It just depends if they want to do it/want the money. If they want a break or to produce another album quickly there's no chance.

As it's happened I think I'm going to Manchester, but standing near the back of the bottom tear. Wanted standing tickets really.

Got three standing but I wanted seated tickets in the first tier but somehow despite it being 9:01am they'd all apparently gone. fecking conspiracy right there, sick of it every time I want tickets to an event.

Just seen a tweet from NME saying they added a second London date for those who missed out.

A friend of mine is looking for a ticket for one of the London shows. I know there's not much of a chance here, but I promise to not get angry if someone have an available ticket and sends a private message to me about it.

Sounds decent. Not sure it's strong enough to be a single though.

That's different, which is no bad think after the similarities between R U Mine? and Do I Wanna Know?

I like it as well, although Do I Wanna Know is still my favourite new track.

Too many of their songs have been released as singles ahead of better ones. It just doesn't really matter though.

Fluorescent Adolescent
Cornerstone (their most overrated song by a mile)
My Propeller
Black Treacle

I'd also include their first two singles as songs released despite being worse than half the other songs on the album, even though they launched them into the stratosphere. In my opinion of course.

Anyway, like the song, still favouring that thumping drum beat I see. Really looking forward to the album now.

EDIT:

Just heard that. Apparently it's going to be a b-side. No surprise really, it'll probably up there with the rest of their album-quality b-sides.

Also heard Mad Sounds which I'm not as keen on. Bit slower. Seems like half the friggin' album's been leaked in some way or another!

That's the B-side to Do I Wanna Know? I think. It's not necessarily the best songs on an album that get released as singles anyway, just the most singley ones. Cornerstone is definitely the most singley song on Humbug. It's also great but whatever.

Agreed on Mad Sounds. I'm really liking the latest one now after a few listens.

There's also soundchecks for "One For The Road" "Knee Socks" & "Snap Out Of It" on youtube. They sound like a blend of humbug, with R U Mine and Doors-style keys. Also 4-5 minutes long.

I'm not sure what's worse; the song or the video to match.

I like the video, but you never really get to listen to the full track do you? A bit distracting

There are some samples from the new album circulating, it's going to stick to the same type of tune that they presented with singles so far - lots of beats and electric guitar, it's completely different from what they've done so far on previous albums but I love everything I've heard so far. Arabella is an amazing tune.

People will inevitably complain that it's not the Arctic Monkeys of the old times but I don't really mind. They're a versatile band that can pull off lots of different styles and be good at it so why wouldn't they have a go at yet another sound.

Close-minded simpletons. "Oh how I wish they could do them loud songs about getting pissed in Sheffield as teenagers again. Woe is me."

Turner, and the rest of the band, have matured. Sadly, their fair-weather fans have not. But I've been over this. Think WP shouted at me.

To be fair I like all their albums. I prefer the newer stuff although I still like to go back to Whatever People Say... and Favourite Worst Nightmare at times. Suck It And See is an album I didn't like at first but it grew on me, same with Humbug - I needed more time with both to fully appreciate them but when I did, they became my favourite albums. This new one has got me quickly though, I've basically loved all the singles so far (although the last one is less catchy than the other two).

BTW the B-side called Stop The World I Wanna Get Off With You has been released as well and it's very good as well. Probably better than Why You Only Call Me When You're High to be fair, should have been on the album.

Most of their B-side should be on albums. Leave Before The Lights Come On should probably have been on their first, if not their second. If I did a top 10 AM songs, it'd probably have at least two if not three or four b-sides. Then again, I couldn't do a top 10, as it'd have about 25 songs in it.

Yeah, lately I've downloaded all their singles on WiMP and there are lots of great songs that haven't been on the albums.

I've always thought that the Arctic Monkeys did really well to progress and develop their sound as they released more albums. Each album is sort of unique in some ways, and yet they're all really good albums, in my opinion.

Compare them to say, the Killers, who have made a right mess since they hit the heights with their debut album. Most of everything they've done since then has been crap.

Or Franz Ferdinand who just didn't change their sound at all and ended up producing 4 identical albums. The new one is boring as hell because of it.

They made 4 albums? Blimey, loved the first album, 2nd was ok didn't realise they made anymore, saw them live when they toured their second album and it was a great gig

I think 4. Perhaps it's more than that but I know about 4. I saw them live this year and they were amazing but it doesn't change the fact that all their albums sound the same.

Has 'Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?' grown on anyone yet? I quite like it now.

What a fecking tune, best I've heard from the new album.

Wow, what a song. Quite 'El Camino'-ish. This album's gonna be ace!

I'd probably go:
R U Mine
Arabella (after half a listen - it's that good!)
Do I Wanna Know
Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High

Love 'em all.

Very cool.

That's four songs I really like on the album before it has even been released. I can't wait for this damn thing to leak properly.

Loved everything I've heard from AM so far. Even the B-side to Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High is great.

The whole album has leaked. Thrilled.

I'll be buying a copy next week anyway but I can't wait now, I need to download this. I don't encourage anyone to do this.
