Appointing Solskjaer was a mistake

We blew our load far too early. What the feck was the rush when we could have just waited to the season was over. Bunch of clowns.

He was taken on permanent after a couple of losses, I think Woodward was hoping to get a second "new manager bounce" and jump-start us again after he was confirmed permanent. It clearly failed massively.

Did people expect us to win this game or are they just bitching for the sake of it?

Going to be extremely embarrassing for Woodward if he has to sack him.

He gave Mourinho a contract extension in January, refused to back him in the market in the summer and sacked him in December.

Firing a caretaker manager and replacing him with another caretaker manager part-way through next season, would be a very Woodward thing to do.

I think he should've shown some bottle and dropped a couple more tonight.

We could have looked like winning it.

I rephrase, we could have looked to, at least, give city a run for their money, you know, just for the show, it's not like 80K people wasted 90 minutes of their lives in coming to the stadium.

It’s been relegation form since he was made permanent manager. What makes you so strongly believe that Solskjær is the right man for the job?

Just because he was a fecking legendary player for us doesn’t mean that he is the second coming of Sir Alex.

We needed strongly leadership after the diabolical Mourinho era. We needed someone with the experience and tactical nous to get us back on top. Can you honestly and truthfully say that you believe that Solskjær has the pedigree to do that?
Aye and it was premier league winning form until he signed his contract, let's not move the goalposts here. He went on a great run and it came to an end. Do you think Poch, Zidane or whoever could have done a better job with this lot. You speak about pedigree, what like Jose Mourinho. Ole needs a pre season, and a chance to get the players he wants in and out. He's one of the only positive things in a very grim situation. If you can't see the problems run way deeper than the manager, then I can't help you.

We are currently on the worst run that this club has seen since the 60’s ffs. It’s not bitching for the sake of it. This is a full on crisis.

7 losses in last 9. Seriously outclassed vs Watford, West Ham, Everton & Wolves. Bitching or just trying to get through to deluded people? You would think it's Moyes out there at the minute.

It's strange to keep saying that game after game really. No one is blaming him for the mess but the thread deals with the idea that giving him the job permanently was a mistake . He might not be responsible for this mess( well he is to a certain extent) but he isn't the guy to lead us out of it

Its the same after every single bloody game .

"Dont know what ole could have done"

"You cant blame ole for tonight"

"He set us up well"
i mean we lost 4-0 but "he set us up well"

Realistically this supposed DOF should have been bought in first and then assessed what was needed end of the season. Ole would then either been offered the job or not. He is now our manager and needs to at least given a season and even 2 to do the job of cleaning out the crap and bringing in better players and playing better, winning football. Woody needs to keep away from actually signing players, otherwise we will end up with £130 million Bale or the like and nothing left for what we really need.

We've lost 7 games from 9.

We're playing worse and worse.

We have a buffoon in Woodward and the Glazers leading us.

Ole has zero experience at the top level and there's uncertainty with some of our players.

There's plenty to 'bitch' about.

What did people expect tonight not a single one of players would get in their team, most wouldn’t even make the bench. Even when they try the gulf in quality is huge, whatever team he picked wouldn’t have been good enough.

We’re years and hundreds of millions behind them no matter who are manager is.

Ole needs to salvage something from last 3 games and then get on with the job, it’s a complete reset and we won’t be competing at the top for at least 2-3 years. That’s what everyone has to come to terms with now. It’s ridiculous we could still finish fourth, win Sunday and will all look very different, lose the season is over.

We beat Watford and West Ham. With the exception of Everton, those were all difficult games. We should have got something against Wolves. Against Arsenal we played well.

What worries we most though, is his persistence with Rashford and Lingard, the delay of his subtitutions and odd tactical choices like playing Darmian today - who hasn't played in a long time. He needs a performance and a result against Chelsea. I think he'll get it.

What the hell is he doing with the subs? From 0-1 the attacking change sshould have been made immediately. What is 80 min sub supposed to achieve?
Pep took his DM off because he can see we offered no threat and we got schooled.

Yes. They were set up correctly, threatened at times and were beaten by a better team with some help from De Gea. Did you expect more tonight???

Agree they are a much better team, but i thought they still opened us up numerous times and if sterling was more clinical we could have been on the end of another drubbing. I thought after the Everton game there would be a decent response at home but all in all we were again toothless up front.
As much as the side needed shaking up the inclusion of Darmian, young and lingard worried me with the way Ole set us up.

That's on Woodward not on Ole.

Really, why? Solskjaer seems to love both players. Young is seemingly among the first names on the teamsheet and Jones was chosen to start at CB in all three of our must-win games last week, including Barcelona.

Those extensions were absolutely signed off by Solskjaer.

He's also had a 11 game winning streak before fitness caught up with them.

We've more points than Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea since he took over.

The whole fecking club is a mess which is why we needed the very best manager for the job.

Look, I love Ole, but that doesn’t stop me from seeing that he wasn’t the right appointment. We did fantastically well when he was interim manager, but that doesn’t change the fact that the board should have waited (like they said they would) until the end of the season before appointing a permanent manager.

He’s been in charge for nearly five months now and we still don’t have a distinct style of play.

By the way, I’m not arguing with you mate, we are all on the same side. I’m just gutted and equally furious at the ineptitude of the board.

I was in the Poch camp. But, decision has been made so i’ll support him and the team come hell or high water. What really alarms me is that as soon as Ole came in we looked a different team, went on that great run. As soon as he’s appointed it looks like they’ve downed tools again. Can’t figure what’s happened between Dec/Jan/Feb and now. That run showed we were good enough on a good day. Got to be down to the players, surely. You don’t go from shite, to great and back to shite again because of the manager. He’s got a massive job in the summer to improve this lot. Still think Poch would have been the better bet, but let’s see where we are at the end of next season. A comfortable top 4 is an absolute must.

Well it's not like there are alternatives out there that have proven to be better have there? Or would you rather he played Rojo or Bailly instead? Or maybe Darmian instead of Young? Or maybe he should have thrown in O'Connor against Barcelona because hey no pressure eh?

So you agree with Ole that the extensions to Jones and Young's deals were a good idea?

Of the 10 players you mentioned, he inherited 6 of them

It's still the players he played. To build a team you need to let players play matches together over time, and what we're seeing today is the result of the team Mourinho built during his time here.

We have not scored from open play for hours, lost 7 in 9, barely getting shots on target, and getting outplayed every game. Our players are no Maradona and Cruyff, but they are surely capable of looking like a football team. In everyway you try to look at it, the buck ends with the manager and management team.
We did win a lot of games when Solskjaer was first appointed, but the team has gotten worse the more time he has spent with them. The players look completely clueless on the pitch to the extent you've got to wonder what is being done on the training ground. There's no identity, no organization, it is like a flock without a shepherd. Teams that easily have more inferior players are able to show more organization than us. I for one won't believe that our whole squad would wake up in the morning and decide to play for a defeat. If it was one or two players then cool, but when it is the whole team looking completely clueless, making mistakes after mistakes then something's got to be wrong, and if a manager is unable to arrest that, then he simply shouldn't be a manager.
His team selections has been questionable, players don't look motivated in any way, his in-game management has been unconvincing. We seem to be in freefall from minute one, and it is gameover the moment we concede the first goal. Even under Mourinho, we were completing comebacks after comebacks, so you can't tell me that the players are not capable of putting up a fight.
We have got only three games before the season is over and I'm willing to wait it out, but I'm not very convinced going into end of season, and it has reached a point where I would say giving Solskjaer millions to spend in the summer would be complete mediocracy. It would be adding more bodies to a team that has no clue.

on the other hand did we deserve the win vs west ham

You don't judge managers over a few weeks.

And yet we've hired Solskjaer on a three year deal and put him in charge of marshalling hundreds of millions of pounds in one of the biggest rebuilds in the club's history, on the back of a few weeks worth of good results.

For example

Today we played 532 - but to me it was clear that we needed to have an AM that made runs to join the attack because Lingard & Rashford couldn't cover all the spaces to spread the city defence open.

I'm pretty sure we did that when we hired him, to be fair.
He's got more points than anyone could have predicted. But they've run out of steam.

He says they are nowhere near fit enough. The results are bearing that out.

Oleball will be back in August once he's had a preseason and a window

Yes, these are all difficult games and individually, each and every one can be explained away. But we lost ALL of them. That is hugely concerning. Especially as we played terribly against West Ham and Watford as well.
