Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

Might watch Hannibal. I'm a big fan of the Anthony Hopkins movies and a big fan of Mads Mikkelson, is it any good?

Very good. One of the best shows on TV while it aired and Mikkelsen is amazing; he's better than Hopkins in my opinion. Also it look stunning.

Check out F is for Family. Nice animated show created by Bill Burr with good repeat value. Only 6 episodes long. If you haven't seen Making a Murderer then prepare to sink 10 hours of your life in one sitting to be shocked and appalled.

Came here to ask this.

I heard it being called "Legend of the Seeker in pretty". Does not Sound that great tbh.

What about The last Kingdom - any good?

Really? Sounds bad.
I saw the photo of it and thought Game of Thrones or something but the fact it is three pretty women suggest is going to be lame.

I will give it a shot but I do not expect something great.

On another note I have read that BBC are going to make a TV series out of His Dark Materials. Could become fantastic.

Btw we have finished season 2 of The Walking Dead yesterday (never bothered with it before). Really good stuff. Always thought of it to be a bit on the trashy side but it really is a Quality Show so far.

Any opinions on the following Shows? What is the best of those?

The White Queen
Black Sails
Camelot
Marco Polo

Thanks!

Well, it has only 45% fresh in Rotten Tomatoes, so it must be baaaaaad.

I never read the books, but pretty much everyone who did so think that they are a pile of shit. So taking that as base material, and being done by MTV, the result is guaranteed.

Not even bothering to start watching it now. I bet that it will be cancelled after the first season.

After years of hearing how good it is I am finally settling down to watch episode 1 of The Wire. I am expecting big things from this show.

Deutchland 83 (Ch 4, Sundays) looks interesting. Willing to give it a go next sunday.

The White Queen 6.5/10. Engaging, but not great. I enjoyed it
Black Sails 6/10 Watched first three episodes and it didn't hook me. Great potential in the story but it tries a bit too much without any standout performances. Also, not enough sea action
Camelot 6/10 Decent. Could be much better.
Marco Polo 8/10 Definitely my pick out of these. Big production sets, shot beautifully and the performances are better than decent.

I heard that the second season of Fargo is excellent. I liked the first season but wasn´t really hooked so I didn´t finish it. is the 2d season related to the first or they are independent ?

Anyone here watch "You're the worst" and "Brooklyn nine nine" ?. The first one is surprisingly funny and BNN has always been consistently decent.

Love both, but YTW is one of the best shows I've seen in a while. The second season is brilliantly dark and human.

Yep, agree. Aya Cash was marvellous. And all the sidekicks come into their own too. A bizarre but very well assembled cast.

There are a few links to the first season but it's a completely independent season which could be watched as a standalone show. It's better than season 1, you'll enjoy it.

Worzel Gummidge. Free on Youtube.

Creepy as hell but I couldnt turn it off.

I can only give you an answer to Black Sails.

The show is very good IMO, but it's not for everyone. Every character is complex and interesting, the story is very good and the show isn't afraid of killing characters. The performances are absolutely amazing, he effects and the sets are also very good and the soundtrack too. However, as I said, it's not for everyone - if you're not too much into pirates and stuff, you may find the show a little boring. Vice-versa, if you expect a Michael Bay show, you will be left dissapointed. It's a mix of everything tbh.

It's a great tv series, however don't go in expecting it to be the Wire or anything like that.

Ok thanks mate. I think Marco Polo is on Netflix so I might give it a try. Looking for some historical Drama.

Borgias might also be an Option. Still have to watch the Ken Follet movies/Mini series as well.

can somebody tell me the level of adult content on Making a Murderer? Profanity and Nudity that is. This is because I watch at home where there are kids under 10

Borgias is good, and there are two Borgias shows on Netflix, the Borgias (Showtime) and Borgia (Canal France and Netflix). I recommend both, although the Netflix version might throw you off with John Doman (from the Wire) playing Rodrigo Borgia with his New England American accent. If you can get past that you'll enjoy it. I love historical dramas myself. I bet you watched Tudors already. The Mini series you mentioned, Pillars of the Earth (2010) and World without end (2012) are both pretty good. Pillars of the earth is actually available in full on YouTube. Have you watched Wolf Hall and Da Vinci's demons?

The Borgias (Showtime) is fantastic. Extremely overlooked, but the performances and the pace of the show are both top notch.

Almost 4 years on, i ask the same question again. I need a new series to watch.

Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Wire, Rome, Dexter (Not all of it), The Sopranos, The Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire, House of Cards, The Shield, O.Z., Suits, Orange is the new black, Narcos, Deadwood and few others have already been either watched or caught up to the current season.

As you can probably notice, crime/drame are the themes i am interested in. Anything new and worth watching?

How To Get Away With Murder is a fairly entertaining law series. It's crime/drama/mystery and fast-paced as feck. Lots of twists and stuff but still well written.

Fargo
True Detective (Season One)
Hannibal

If you're wanting to get into film making or narrative work then I thoroughly recommend Beowulf Return to the Shield Land by ITV. It is an incredible lesson in how not to direct, light or edit a show. Seriously watch it, think of the decisions they made and think how you would do the opposite. It's a travesty.

I forgot to add True Detective to the series i have watched. I was considering Justified and Fargo but the scope of just one geographical location has put me off slightly although Deadwood was fantastic. Haven't heard of Get away with murder but is Mad Men recommended?

Mad Men is one of the best shows ever. 100% recommend giving it a watch.

Mad Men is one of my favorites. It's purely drama so very dialogue-heavy but really, it's fecking amazing drama IMO. My second favorite show after The Wire, ahead of True Detective, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead.
