Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

What‘s the caf‘s verdict on Fallout? Watched only 20mins of it but seems pretty cool so far. Nice surprise to see Kyle MacLachlan in it.

I really enjoyed it much better than I was expecting

I’ve tried starting the expanse a few times I could never get into it

Shall I have another go?

I was the same way. Never got the big fuss and while the production quality seemed to be pretty high, it was extremely dull to me. Good to to fall asleep to I guess. Ditch it. Life is too short and too many other good shows that probably will grab you.

What did you have an issue with? Would recommend the books too, if you like reading sci-fi.

I'm honestly not sure, it just didn't grab my attention. I've read the first book too and enjoyed it, so I'm gonna have another go at it

It was similar with Battlestar Gallactica for some reason, never got into it

No idea if anyone has been following the third season of Industry but it is one of the best shows on TV right now. A very good Sunday Succession successor for HBO. Its just elevated to another level this season.

Pretty close to the perfect adaptation. "True" to the Fallout universe without being hamstrung by storylines developed in the games. Does an amazing job of bringing the game world to life, excellent casting, top notch sets/production design.

Has anyone seen The Expanse?
Yes. The show is better than the books. The story at least in the first book, is kind of a private detective in space looking for a runaway rich girl. The sci-fi elements are very grounded in reality, so it feels very near-future instead of mind blowing future. They do have a hard time explaining some of the political machinations between the various factions (belters, mars, earth, etc.), and they spend too much time on characters on earth that aren't interesting. It's a very good show, but not a great one. B+ maybe?

Twilight of the Gods is animated show from Netflix about the Norse gods. It's decent, but wouldn't be on the level of Blue Eye Samurai, Arcane etc.

Started watching Tulsa King.

Not sure what took me so long. It's pretty brilliant so far. Thought it would be way different than what it is. Sly s best acting arguably and it's just funny as hell at times.

I've tried watching it and it's so bad. I can't see what the seal is, SS is just so wooden!

I see you didn't like the Expanse which is one of the best shows I've seen so it's probably best if we don't follow one another's recommendations :p

I gave up in episode one when apparently because he had been in prison he had no idea what a mobile phone was. It was far too stupid.

There is intentionally silly TV and then there are shows like the Expanse that take themselves too serious in turn making it silly :p

Thought so, not even scratched the surface.
A show shouldn't take that long to grab you though. Too many other shows out there. Other than book readers or hardcore sci fi fanatics I've yet to meet someone who likes the show. It doesn't have the universal appeal some of the top shows do. And I even like sci fi, though either stuff that also doesn't take itself too serious like Star Trek, or more high level acting drama movies like Interstellar. Foundation is the only "serious" sci fi tv show at the moment I think that has a claim to be properly good.

You're the only sifi fan outside the Caf I've met that hasn't liked it. Each to their own though.

TK though, I'm not having that as a good show, absolutely dire!

What's TK? Edit NM I assume u mean Tulsa King. Didn't get the leap back to that.

And as I implied - I'm not a hardcore sci fi fan. I just like some sci fi. Aka the average person. And the average person doesnt seem to like it. And that's a problem for a show when you're trying to compete with a million other ones.

The Caf is honestly the exemption to the rule for me, the show is praised by people I've spoken to. We can't like everything though.

Tulsa King, I was just too lazy to write it

We all surround ourselves with confirmation bias I guess but I dont really know anyone other than myself who likes sci fi other than movies like the aforementioned Interstellar. And that's the audience I am basing my assessment on that outside of a certain circle - it doesn't have universal appeal to here it transcends the usual fan of such shows.

Depends who you talk too. We obviously know different folk! Different strokes for different folks. It'll always remain top tier for me and it doesn't really matter what others think about it. It had a good run due too good figures and reviews so I'm happy for that. You don't like it, fair enough, it's not my job to try and change your mind. Same with TK, did I read that you're a fan? Again, fair play but I had to bleach my eyes after watching Stallone prancing around again.

I didn't say I'm a fan as in I think it's the greatest of shows but it doesn't take itself seriously and it's about Breaking Bad levels of dumb with non sensible violence and silly one liners. Not every show I watch has to be high quality. To every Slow Horses, Peaky Blinders, Succession or early day Game of Thrones etc there is silly TV like that or another show I loved for that was i.e. Californication. I'm generally much more into historical based shows though - or least something somewhat grounded into real life events, people or organizations. Social commentaries if you will.

Watching Nobody Wants This on Netflix

Not gonna lie, I like it. Don't care if it's a bit of a cheesy romcom show, it's actually funny and well done
