Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

I love Peep Show and The Office. Is there anything similar to these?
Thick of It & Extras. Not so similar but also great comedies are Parks and Rec, Office (US), It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, People Just Do Nothing.
Good list by Alock. I'd also recommend Silicon Valley which is the best comedy currently out there imo.

Parks & Rec Season 2 - 5 is pretty much comedy perfection imo.

Atlanta and Silicon Valley are the two best currently on air.

feck, forgot about Silicon Valley. Feels like an age since the last season finished, surely back soon?

I'm watching DVDs of Mr. Show with Bob Odenkirk and David Cross and it's actually really good. Kind of Pythonesque but less philosophy and more funny shit.

4 episodes into Rectify, enjoying it so far. Frustrating knowing that the series is finished when its pretty much unclear what route the overall story is going to take.

What do you mean by this?

The fourth season ends the show perfectly imo, keep watching.

One of the best shows I've ever seen, truly.

Search Party with Alia Shawkat (Maybe from Arrested Development) is pretty good, about a group of useless New York hipsters who attempt to solve the mystery of a missing girl. Starts as a mocking comedy and gets progressively more dramatic. Thought it ended very satisfyingly.
.

How did you watch this? Don't suppose it's on Netflix?

I'm loving that i know very little about the story (will he go back to jail, was he framed, will he be exonerated etc. etc.). I suppose its frustrating from a temptation point of view that i could google the story, knowing that the whole story is told (whatever the outcome).

Its a good complaint. I have no pre-conceptions about how this is going to turn out.

Anything at all similar to Banshee out there? Figured I'd ask here before rewatching all of it.
Maybe Shooter by Netflix? Same lone wolf vibe, although with less complicated backstory and sex

Spartakus, if you don't care about the time frame - same non-important narrative with blood and sex and everything.

2 great recommendations, though I'm watching Shooter already and Spartacus shares my 'favourite show' spot alongisde Banshee.

Shooter is decent but I find they try too hard to make the main dude look like a badass.

Really nothing like Banshee out there, one of the best action shows created. The direction, the music, the setting, the storylines and most important the array of unique and batshit crazy characters imo is Wire levels of great. Such an unique show.

Cinemax new show "Quarry" might be to your liking, or perhaps "Strike Back" which even though totally different to Banshee has many of the same people involved and in many ways was the show Cinemax based their Banshee recipe off. It is pretty much non stop action but with a special forces and security firm type of background instead of criminals \ hillbillies like Banshee.

Strike Back sounds very interesting, Thanks!

Quarry is indeed pretty good. Definitely less action but I like the story/characters and it's all really well done.

Calm your mustache.

Yeah I went a bit overboard there, I meant that the characters are Wire levels of great, not the entire show.

Then again I retract that statement as well, I'd rate character galleries as such:

1: Wire
2: Sopranos
3: Oz
4: Banshee

Doesn't change the fact that I was as much, if not more, entertained by Banshee as compared to the Wire though. Still the Wire is a better show though.

Banshee's fun, but they're way too in love with their own characters for them to be truly "great" IMO. The small town Amish gangster with an employ of about 4 taking on all comers like some kind of Rambo-Corleone being a case in point. The writers were evidently so pleased with themselves for the very concept that it became cartoonish.

I watched Banshee's pilot but wasn't impressed.

I actually first quit after the first episode, when that bus comes sliding in the opening scene I just thought wtf and put it away.

Started watching it about a year later though and quickly became one of my favs.

You should give it the 4 episode test. A pilot isn't enough to judge a show, and especially not a show so heavily dependent on it's colorful characters, you'll need time to get introduced.

I thought it was really good, agreed it does have a slow start but worth sticking with.

On that note I'm just about finishing The Killing. Vikings or Banshee will be my next show, which one would you recommend? I pretty much can watch any series and don't have a preference on which genre so just looking for the overall better show really.

Banshee, and by a landslide.

Tried really hard to find a proper anology for Banshee once, best I could come up with is that to me, it gave me the same feeling as watching the A-Team when I was a kid. You obviously shouldn't take it too seriously and then it becomes absolutely brilliant. The women, the violence, some of the villains, it's impossible not to like.

Fun fact: did you know we even had a guy up here who played a small part in it?

Netflixs' Lemony Snicket's a series of unfortunate events in on now with Niel Patrick Harris playing count Olaf

Rectify, Banshee, Exorcist or Goliath?

Which one should I start with first?

Banshee and Exorcist are both brilliant. Depends what you like really. Banshee is an all out action show, while Exorcist is a horror show.

If you like horror you'll need to see the Exorcist show though, from a horror perspective it is some of the best stuff made IMO.

Just finished watching all 4 seasons of Continuum on Netflix. Very good, after appearing to be a bit naff for the first couple of episodes.
