Antony (out)

I can see him being loaned out with yearly loan fees until his book fee comes down to a level we can sell him for without taking a hit on the books.

Or we sell him to Forrest, Newcastle for 25-30. I can see them looking at him as good value to drop a level

Is PSR such a millstone that we would rather do that than make a loss? I assume the current required fee for him to break even would be about 60m, we might get a third of that maybe.

Would it seriously be better for the club financially to hold onto him for the next year and a half to loan him out rather than just take a hit this summer?

Probably, if his wages are covered to some extent, a few 5m fees. It might rejuvenate his value if he performs and create a better market.

As I see it, I can only see a small pool of clubs willing to spend 25-30m on him. PL is definitely the best market.

Yeah, it's a bit mad that it makes more sense to keep a player because of his book value than it would to cut losses. But we've seen crazy things with good youth prospects sold for what would normally constitute fees for extremely promising prospects, all because of financial house keeping.

Example of how we need to sign players based on their traits and ability than prestige or achievements.

- rarely beats his man
- isnt pacy
- likes to cuts inside to shoot on his strong foot (one trick pony) but not great at that unlike say Robben
- can only play in one position

All points out to a limited player who needs specific place to succeed. And england isnt that. When you look at those it doesnt matter how well he did with Ajax. He wasnt a good fit.

Don’t see any real benefit of sending him to Greece. More useful as a squad option here than that.
if anything his price would drop even further, if by any means he's not absolutely destroying the greek league then his value would drop to nearly 0. We shouldnt be loaning players on that wages to that type of leagues. If anything at least it should be a second tier league like Eredivise or Primeira Liga.

I think its just a result of how far his value has dropped from the 80m. If we signed him for 45m we’d be able to let him go this summer.

We’re seeing with Antony, Rashford and Casemiro how these terribly bad decisions are hurting us.

Id imagine the Olympiakos move would be a way to park him before moving him to Forest?
Edu is there now, so Brazilians will be a player pool he’s looking at.

He should be making a huge fuss to push for a loan or move away.

No player in there 20's should be happy with a few cameos at RWB. Why even have an agent and manager if you have given up on your dreams, and are happy to be a substitute.

If Antony is still here when the window closes it says a lot about him as a person.

Sure the money is great at United, but he wouldn't be playing for free else where, show some ambition and get yourself back playing regularly.
You're transposing your dreams onto him. Maybe his dream is just to be very rich and provide for his family?

We’d be lucky to get 15m for him.

He also won’t leave because nobody else will pay him even close to the salary we currently are.

I think we should just bite the bullet and take whatever is on offer to get rid of these high waged players.

Nah it’s not that high. He’s 2.5 years into his five year contract, so you’re looking at another £40 million left. I can see a loan with a small fee for six months and then another attempt to sell him in the summer when his book value would be £32 million. I can see a world where a French or Italian team might part with £25 million after a good loan.
