Why? Because they outspend everyone in their league by a massive, massive amount.

Their closest rivals only win the league when Ajax are either in transition or they have a bad season and underachieve.

That doesnt mean they would walk the league though. Sadly we are a good example of misspending also

Stupid, stupid fee. Just step away from this. You can get same type of player for £20m.

Shocking that we never learn. Casmiero, I can somehow understand that he costs even if that also was to much, but this is just bizzare.
Absolute nonsense. This isn’t 2001.

If Antony is right about February then they don't have a leg to stand on vis a vis 5 days to replace him, particulary when he says there has been other offers.

I mean no wonder hes fuming he knows Ajax are already getting way more than hes worth.

Our DoF is probably the most incompetent employee of any company, in history, in any role.

He can’t even close a deal for 90mil on a player who literally nobody else is after.

Given Murtough’s shitshow of a window, it would be a travesty of epic proportions if he is still in a job come September the 1st.
Have you ever heard of Ralf Rangnick, football “manager”?

He will be a bigger flop than Pepe.

I have a sneaky feeling this is going to come true. Also, ETH is maybe not the best at transfers given his stubbornness regarding familiarity transfers.

He seems to need a DOF above him to put sense on his targets

His transfers so far look pretty good

Newcastle also wants to buy Alvarez for 40m.
If we let Alvarez and Antony go, that's like 6 keyplayers in one transfer window.

Chelsea asks 40+ mil for an 29 years old bench player.

So i clearly understand Ajax
The money is good, But there simply isn't enough time to get a good replacement. The longer it takes, the higher the price will be.
That's how business works.

Antony should just shut up and talk with his feet. Just play aganst Utrecht, and show us why you're worth this much.
Acting like a baby will not help anyone.

Who can we get for 20m?

Players of similar caliber have been changing clubs all over Europe this summer for fees in the region of €15m to €30m.
Antony is rated as a prospect, but by all accounts, hasn’t exactly established himself as a consistent performer.
Valuations we’re said to be in the €45m to €55m ballpark earlier in the summer and Ajax were not happy to be selling.
We we’re taking an enormous gamble in offering $65m or €70m
€80m was already way over the top, so what are we doing, dancing to Ajax’s loony tunes?

Put in a lower, take it or leave it, late bid and if they say feck off, we should gladly tell them to do the same and walk.

It’s poor planning by Ajax really.

Not United or Antony’s problem

Another person who does anything but answer the actual question.

To be fair, Antony seems to have been in discussions since february about a move away.

Don't think this was surprising to Ajax at all.

They have always been a selling club. We just need to find the right price.

Name players

That's fair enough. I apologise if I came across to you that you were painting United in bad light.

I guess I might be replying more to the 'sense of entitlement' comment. I've read it so mamy times in this thread, and it's being used bash United with. People foget, this is the dark arts of football, that we lost many years ago after Fergie went. Sometimes, you have to do it.

But let's also not forget, if Antony wasn't performing, Ajax would have shipped him out. It works bith ways.

No worries mate, I was referring to the poster - which there were - who blaimed Ajax for whatever reason..

And they will with those players as their domestic competitions are shite.
Their domestic competition is shit? That is bs. And ignorant.
They won it by two points (and lost a cup final). Now they have lost manager, best fb, best cb, best mc, best striker and maybe they will lose best winger.

If their competition is shit then we, Bayern and Dortmund are complete idiots

why on earth would that be? Wouldn’t Ajax’ response to him indicating he wants to leave matter? He has a contract that runs another 4 year, so him unilaterally telling Ajax he wants to leave means absolutely feck all. It merely states his intentions

€100m will get it done. They've obviously rejected anything lower than that to make a point. No different to what Dortmund did with Sancho

Ajax has signed two wingers and not lost anyone yet. So the talk about not having time to replace Antony is nonsense. They have Tadic, Bergwijn and Conceicao, also Berghuis can play there. So they already have more wingers than last year

Sounds like poor management. Even my dog knew ETH wanted Antony before he even started the United job.
