There is zero chance for him staying at Ajax after that interview. I mean it's not a PR brief from his camp, he was directly quoted by the most reliable journo out there.
I have never been more certain of a transfer in my life

Nobody is bigger than the club.
If he don't want to play. He can train with Young Ajax (second team).
His choice!

Including bonusses the transfer cost Ajax 21.75 million euro's which at the time was the highest incoming transfer ever for Ajax. That may be low risk for a premier league club where money grows on trees, but definitely not for Ajax. His old club will also get 20%(?) Of the price that Ajax will sell him on for and I think Neres' tramsfer rights were also involved somehow. Ajax attracts talent, because talent knows that they will get the chance to develop and get the chance to shine in the CL with the added benefit of steamrolling the league. This 1 incident wont change that. Antony will get his chance to move on, but United acted too late and now they don't want to sell.

Now Antony comes out saying he wanted this to be a 2 year project, well in that case he should've asked for a 2 year deal or a buyout clause. He didnt, because he had proven feck all when he came here. Again, I agree Ajax are absolutely mental if they reject this outrageous bid for an unproven and inconsistent player, but Antony should shut the feck up.

God, defending Ajax like this makes me physically ill.
Well they bought him for initial cost of 15.3m euros (with 6.1m adds on). And not for long, they bought Haller for 22.5m euros in the following winter window.

Anyway, I don't think he has owed Ajax anything. If he is is going to leave on free, maybe. But not for 90 fecking million.

Noble words. But then you lose - your best attacker, a potential 90m (which he will never be worth ever again), and your reputation with young developing players. All for an extra few million euro? Crazy.

Can we not send them a bunch of kids on loan to sweeten the deal?

They can have Chong, Mebrj on loan, Garner on loan, Shortire if needed.
Aah, the good old arrogance. Give me one reason why Ajax would need or do it ?

It’s all kicked off since Ajax are finding it difficult to sign his replacement in Ziyech. If that was straightforward this would’ve been a done deal a few days ago.

From Ajax point of view:
If they sell for 90M
18M goes to Sao Paulo ( 20% sell on fee)
16M original cost
40M for Ziyech as replacement

This leaves them with 16M profit.
Cost of not making it out of group stage or direct qualification to CL for next season is 80-100M

Chelsea really fecked us over because they know we want Antony. The don't even want Ziyech and no one will bid more than 25-30M for him.

If they claim to not have enough time for a replacement, there are worse options than loaning Amad for two years. Instant replacement, low cost. Certainly a valid alternative to paying through the nose for Ziyech

Ajax has more money then they can spend. Especially since the players they go after are cheaper. So money isn’t an issue for them.

United on the other hand sees buying expensive as a PR stunt, they doesn’t care about all the moaning fans and journalists about “overpaying”. As long as United looks like a mega club with all lot of names in the squad the commercial side will thrive.

That’s how it works in the States. Big names means big money. Tournaments comes and goes. I really don’t think more then CL is of interest. So big names is building the brand - if you pay big the name becomes big.

You think your management is willing to lose up to €100m, keep an unhappy and sulking player out of the team just to 'show' him who's bigger?
I don't think so, it's just business after all. You play a hard bargain at the moment, but we will make a deal eventually

Stupid, stupid fee. Just step away from this. You can get same type of player for £20m.

Shocking that we never learn. Casmiero, I can somehow understand that he costs even if that also was to much, but this is just bizzare.

Seriously? You really think they will develop a player for us and give him back to us after 2 years ? A player who has barely played in last 2 years ? What exactly is the benefit for them here.

We aren't talking about any minnows here. It's fecking Ajax. One of the best run clubs in the world.

People play FM too much these days !

I assume the club made some promises to Antony at the start of the window in relation to what they’d accept for him if another bid came in. He’s now upset as they are yet again playing hard ball and going back on it.

The only explanation really for how he is behaving.

Yeah and that is the bigest point. Assuming. Ok, and what about an “assumption” that Schreuder was also promised to keep the squad in tact while Schreuder signed his contract at Ajax?

The benefit is earning 100m off Antony and not needing to scramble for an overpriced replacement. Which seems to be their narrative

Ajax are just trying to milk us because we're idiots that have waited until the end of the transfer window to do the deal and are desperate as a result.

It'll be done for a silly fee in the end, I'm sure.

Our DoF is probably the most incompetent employee of any company, in history, in any role.

He can’t even close a deal for 90mil on a player who literally nobody else is after.

Given Murtough’s shitshow of a window, it would be a travesty of epic proportions if he is still in a job come September the 1st.

Not seen it broke down like this yet... These figures accurate? 16m profit from the whole thing is not a lot.

It’s 56m profit. They don’t have to spend 40m on Ziyech and if they do they’re as crazy as us.

Would say they simply get 72 million more in the bank because he directly contributed in them winning the league and progress from the CL group (and that is just last season) so he has certainly repaid that initial cost.

Crazy money, but replacement of similiar quality is probably their main issue.

Where are all these 20 million pound players? Name a few.

Their closest rivals only win the league when Ajax are either in transition or they have a bad season and underachieve.

Ajax are in transition. PSV wins the title just as much and there are also odd winners like AZ, Twente and Feyenord.

Ajax are definitely the richest club out there, but it's not like they capitalize year after year.
