Exactly.

They are fully in their right to change appetite given a transfer window is dynamic and there are a lot of moving parts.

As long as they change their appetite preemptively and with fair reason, I dont mind. Its on us to say yes or no.

As @amolbhatia50k insinuated , we pay or we move on. Its that simple.

In your opinion they are right. I disagree.

Antony also feels misled.

 It works both ways. You can’t set a price then raise it due to imaginary inflation.
They didnt raise it due to imaginary inflation. They raised it because their season was starting and the squad was settled, and there was far less time to get a replacemrnt. replacement.

Also, they can do what the feck they want. Its their price not ours.

Oh yeah, you were perfectly clear about that, silly me.

Go on and put a few more examples that have nothing to do with this.

Was the £100m not a give away? When you typed 65m did you not think. Something ain’t right here?

Did the terms of a transfer window close? Is there a if they season starts transfer for up by 40% clause?

Maybe they should of factored in the window closes 1st September.

They set the terms. If they had a deadline before which there was a price hike, thats fair. Its their price not ours so quit whining about it.

It is the same because Antony feels agrrieved about a price that was not met. Just like Kane.

We met the price. Once we bid they moved the price.

This is why he’s aggrieved.

Kane’s price was set City tried to negotiate another price.

You can do whatever you want as the selling club. And you definitely would when dealing with a club as badly run as us.

The price was met! why are you being obtuse. They increased it and went back on what they initially said.
The price was never met. It was 80 to a point. Then Ajax said right we are deep into the window, we do our business early, the cost of making us unsettled from this point on is an extra 20m.

We didnt meet that price.

I have a feeling that the journalists are being fed random numbers and they are just spinning it. Cannot be surprised if the actual fee is 60 mil and Ajax is just asking to hold on for Ziyech's transfer to finish.

No one said it was 80m ‘to a point’

Again you are just outright lying.
We bid 80m AFTER they raised the price to 100m.

Follow the timeline properly then post. Im sick of misinformation being spread now.

Ajax said when that point ended. It was 2-3 fecking weeks notice that it ended. And we still bid 80m for fecksake.

And you don’t think this point should have been mentioned at the start of discussions no?

Odd how you expect clubs to plan their transfer business.

The people who love shitting on our club are the ones taking dividends and their cronies. If you can’t see through their bullshit after two terrible results to start the season then you never will.

You'll see plenty of my posts wanting the Glazers out. Not just that but giving the reasons as to why.

But I'm backing my club and not the Glazers. If you can't see the difference, you never will!

Im saying his views are immaterial to the price being set. So your point about him being hard done by is irrelevant to our discussions

So you want to leave your club and they say no problem. You can go if we get a offer of 80m or more. You say fair enough.

That happens then your club say no, you can’t go now.

Of course you can and should feel hard done by

Not meeting the asking price in either scenario, in favour of dicking around on transfer that was a moon shot created the situation we are in.

Ajax had a price for early on, and that increased as the new season was starting and they wanted their settled squad. So the appetite to sell changed. Theres nothing wrong from them.

If we cant get our shit together, quit blaming other clubs.

Do you think Antony would be so annoyed if we didn't meet our side of the bargain?

Were there price targets for the time of the month they came in with a bid?

How can anyone defend the club in this situation. Do people think we get asking prices based on twitter rumours rather than actual discussion with the selling club?
Asking prices aren’t static. If I had a small window of time to replace something/someone my price for letting go of my own assets would rise near the end too.

He stopped training after a decent offer was made and rejected last week and I think his frustration is more than fair to be honest. He didn't stop playing for their first two games as it doesn't sound like we made an offer and if we did, not a significant one.

I just think if we really wanted him we could have been more persistent sooner. We just seemed put off at the price earlier in the transfer window and it's not paid of for us unfortunately.

And I think that's fair from our pov. We all know, even Antony does, that the prices quoted for him aren't a true valuation. However, we've still gone and done it.

And, if Ajax knew Antony's desires as early as February, they should also have planned better.

Messy all around.

They never said this to Antony.

They had 80m - no bites for that fee.
End July they gave NOTICE and said its 100m for reasons Ive already explained.

18th Aug we bid 80m.

Yeah, ajax are fine mate. And you can talk about Antony being upset all you want, a tier one source also said he was upset at United for not bidding in a timely fashion. It works both ways.

@moses @Penna @golden_blunder

Can we please have a poll with below options?
1. Walk away. I didn't want him anyway
2. Walk away. He is too expensive
3. Pay the money. He is worth every penny
4. Expensive. But pay the money because ETH wants him

Thanks.

We could tweak the options?

1. Mommy, why are Ajax telling fibs, the meanies?
2. Are Ajax worse than the Taliban?
3. Who are Ajax anyway?
4. Why don't they respect our authoritay?

How do you know?

Some of the comments in here are absolutely absurd...

Ajax already lost Tagliafico, Mazraoui, Gravenberch, Martinez and Haller this summer who were important players.. Antony has only been at Ajax for 2 years so far and has 3 years left on his contract..

Ajax has every every right to refuse these bids and argue that they have lost enough players this season and dont want to let him go.. Regardless of price... Maybe they just dont care he will maybe be worth a lot less next year, but we just want him to stay to be better in the Champions League... Antony also has to grow up, realize he has a 3 year contract, realize that if he continues his current form there will be other clubs next year, plus he cannot afford to go sulking with the World Cup coming up...

Everyone can argue ofcourse Ajax are playing a risky game, when it comes to the finances involved and/or player unhappiness.. But the sense of entitlement on here and the implications that Ajax in any way 'the bad guy' here are just beyond ridiculous...
No entitlement from me buddy,
He is your player and your club are entitled to name your price or say no sale.
We would be the absolute mugs to pay it!
