Gonna have egg on his face when United sign him. Why doesn’t he say he can’t comment? Surely that’s a better answer?

I dunno why Ajax are letting him do any of these without a brief on the situation. If they know Antony will most likely leave, they should tell him to be vague. When/If Antony leaves he just looks weak and clueless about the ongoings at the club he is supposedly the manager of.

That Casemiro deal has really spoilt us. We were just not prepared for having transfers concluded within a couple of days. All we are used to is evaluating, exploring, preparing bid, sent scouts, confident in deal etc. etc.

But really hope that we can wrap this Antony deal really soon, just to see the look on this arrogant bloke's face.

Was the manager saying similar about Martinez? Seems odd that he keeps putting his reputation on this deal, he’s said multiple times that Antony will stay. cnut.

They just had their Champions League draw and all they are talking about is Manchester United and Antony. FFS. Focus on you group draw ask some questions about their opponents. Why are they being allowed to ask so many questions about Antony and even worse, why are they answering.

Seem pretty confident unfortunately.

They're fecking stupid for rejecting it if that's how it does go. It is what it is. We're dumb for not bidding the proper amount in June, they're dumb for rejecting this now. They're well within their rights to reject it, but it seems like they're trying to do a dick swinging move but meanwhile Antony is going to be furious and I hope he gives them problems all year and then he leaves for half the price next summer tbh.

Doesn't really make sense why they'd reject it. They lost their manager, their coaching staff, half their squad. They'll be lucky to get out of the group stage of the CL. Yet they're rejecting a stupid overpay for a player desperate to leave. Just stupidity all around.

Setting up for “He would’ve stayed, but he picked money over us and they offered us a sum that was impossible to say no to. We will be better off as a team….”

Don't think the player himself gives a crap how they portray him frankly , he's done everything to force their hand and seems desperate to leave.

Turning down almost double his value at near 100m for him and keeping a pissed off star will only backfire for them but at least megamind will get to act like Big Daddy bollocks

Strange questions by the journos. Don't clubs typically manage media questions beforehand?

Reminds me of how chairmen tell the press that “the manager has my full support, 100%. Absolutely no chance of him being sacked, his position is as safe as houses.”

We all know what comes next.

All it means is that we get him cheaper next summer. We're offering well above market value, so if they reject it there is no way for them to get that kind of money next summer.

It’s public knowledge they’re looking for a replacement. They probably wanted to get Ziyech done before accepting but have been priced out.

Christ, Dutch journos don’t beat around the bush do they

This is nothing compared to how some press conferences of the dutch national team are. Especially valentijn driessen, he just lives to troll LvG.
They are straightforward and persistent, trying to annoy the manager/player more often than not and hope to get a reaction out of it. It’s like these journos have a reputation to live up to to the audience and colleagues.
