Good performance in terms of workrate and defensive ability but needs to be upgraded as soon as possible, and no not by Pellistrim

Really should try him in a position other than RW, on LW for something different he might not cut in and do nothing, in midfield he might actually win it back and lay it off to a more skilled player and actually think he'll end up a wing back/full back because he has good hustle but simply not good enough going forward.

Still leaves a lot to be desired offensively, but my god did he fecking run today. Excellent defensive performance, which was just what was needed considering the circumstances.
Really impressed by his defensive work. He even seems to enjoy it.
I know he's still at 0 assist or goal, but I can see him turn things around.

An excellent defensive performance and as good as any of our attackers.

I don't think he's at the required level but, when we're in the trenches and he doesn't get into petty squabbles, he shows our other attacking players up in terms of defensive diligence and tracking.

One of his better performances today - any other RW and we probably lose

Can't stand watching him. He works hard so fair enough there but like... He's so shit in the final third and he's so frustratingly one footed

Agree with what someone said in the match thread. If we signed him on a free or he was under £20m, I'd be quite happy with him.

Works hard but the quality all too often is lacking.

His lack of right foot while playing on the right is a massive problem. Especially when the strikers need service, more than a few times a whipped in cross from the right would have caused problems.

Hes so predictable, cut in on his left. Agree a championship level signing at £20mil. No way should he be capped for brasil.

Watching him try and play football actually hurts my eyes.

Works hard though I’ll give him that. Should have been a defender.

That means it wasn't a good performance.

I'm tired of people excusing absolute dross attackers/midfielders by saying they worked hard. He never creates anything and constantly kills attacks in a position that was BEGGING for a competent forward to be in. I'm not going to give him a pass because he made some tackles around our box, feck that. Same attitude people had last year with Weghorst starting every game and saying he "presses hard". Antony isn't even "dangerous" either, defenders have basically 0 respect for him and dare him to take them on, it's embarassing.

Offers absolutely nothing going forward. Can't get past a man, can't cross and isn't very quick - Works hard defensively but that's part of the game for every modern winger these days. Terrible.

He's so bad. It's interesting because I'm thinking of coming out of retirement at RW.

Context; I'm 36, 94kgs, have sciatica, scar tissue on both ankles and a penchant for beer yet I can play better than him.

As an attacking player, that was dire. Constantly makes bad decisions on the ball. Once again, I'm questioning why we bought a guy for the money we paid for when he's pretty much useless in attack.

Works hard, defended really well, but he really don't know what to do with the ball. Might as well play AWB there, he tries to take on opponents more often.

We needed his workrate today. Props for helping the defense. But.. let's part ways in summer.

He is defensively excellent. That’s one area I never doubt him.

Watched West Ham before us, Kudus scored 2 really good goals as a left footed right winger and I can’t help but think there’s got to be more to come for Antony, he surely has more in his locker than we’re seeing.

Works hard, has some flair but lacking any kind of football intelligence. Shocking signing.

Isn't it ironic that ETH coached him at Ajax?

He really doesn’t have anything else to offer.

I still think it’s worth putting him on the left and make him use his left foot to get balls into the box. He offers nothing offensively on the right.

Just doesn’t have the ability, that’s not going to change. He’s clearly trying but not up to playing the Premier League unfortunately.

There was one moment which summed him up as a player here. Did extremely well in helping out the defense and getting the ball off Tsimikas. He followed by trying to dribble out and countering, was slow and shit, and Tsimikas got the ball back.

Or even more damning that he also coached Kudus who is dynamite for West Ham and cost half the fee? Shows how poorTen Hag's talent eval actually is.
Definitely poor. Incidentally, didn't Klopp want Brandt instead of Salah before being overridden by Michael Edwards?

Great defensive play, works really hard.....but thats not why we paid 80m for him.

So frustrating. I thought last season there was a player in there and stil think he has been harshly criticised.

His pressing and tracking back is excellent, he has flair.....but the running into blind alleys, the fancy tricks and passes that dont come off when there was a simple pass, the decision making and that lack of pace.....dont think he will progress here

Wouldn’t be surprised. Liverpool have signed a lot of players who were Klopp’s picks and that’s how it should be. Managers aren’t scouts and football has moved on. Well everyone aside from us.
