He is useless. 100m for that is absolutely criminal. I just hope he fecks off once ETH gets the boot, and not last 5 fecking years like the last shit Brazilian we spent a fortune on.

Put in a good ball to Rashford for that Rasmus chance in the first half. Was actually quite impressed he got it past the first man.

Works hard defensively, which is more than can be said for others. But that’s not really enough is it. Doesn’t appear to have the attributes for the PL.

Another diasterclass recruitment. Shocking player. Not sure he starts for any team in the top 10.

That price tag? Crazy!

Wow, he really is an underwhelming player:
- Can't beat a man
- Has no right foot

...and the most annoying part of his game:

Every match (without fail), he will cut infield from the right near the edge of the box, and fire away a meek shot that rarely finds the target, and on the rare occasion that he does find the target, it never troubles the keeper.

What does he actually bring to the team in an attacking sense, because I'm not seeing anything from him?

It does my head in.. most of those shots could honestly be described as him passing the ball to the keeper, that's how weak and predictable they are.

It's really difficult to blame him because he obviously tries, and gives his best every game, but he is simply nowhere near quality enough to play for us. I recon if Ten Hag wasn't our manager he would lose the place long time ago to someone like Garnacho out of position, or Sancho, because there is really nothing to lose at this point. Pellistri was pretty average when he played, and showed that he is not good enough, but him today there and the result or our play wouldn't change at all.

It's amazing that some people take it as a fact that he makes us better team. It just shows that you can argue antything on the internet, when it's proved time and time again that we are pretty much same team with and without him, which is quite something because without him we don't even have right winger in the team, and he isn't even better than that.

It's worse when you have the commentator making excuses for him like happened today and some fans will then believe it.

Nonsense like we have yet to see the best of him when this is his best this is what he is.

Still needs time to get back to top form after his time away as if we ever saw any top form from him.

I honestly think he is without doubt the worst signing we have made and the worst signing in the premiership

90 million on a nothing player and yet the manager just loves him and will keep playing him game after game.

Can see why Sancho got the humph when this waste of space gets chance after chance after chance no matter how dross he plays.

We're stuck with him for another 4 years, aren't we? Because I'm sure we inexplicably gave him stupid wages when we signed him.

I can’t believe I had to get into arguments on here with people who said Antony just needs more time and an actual striker. As if that’s going to make him a better dribbler, passer, or finisher.
I think this was the funniest thing. He’d put in shit crosses all of last season but somehow getting a proper no.9 was going to change that.

Funny enough he probably put in his best cross in months today that went to Rashford at the back post but must have been a fluke as all his other attempts were the typical dreadful Antony crossing attempts.

At this point I’ve just accepted him for what he is. He provides bits of decent play in the middle third of the pitch but that’s about it. He doesn’t have the quality to do much more than he’s offering

That's what i find weird as i wonder what the other players make of him especially the attacking players.

I know Hojlund is new to the club but he must be making it known he needs better service.

You can clearly see that Rashford is trying to find Hojlund a lot quicker and a lot more in recent games.

Erik has said about Rashford needs to learn when to pass yet as usual had nothing similar to say about Antony.

I saw a highlight of the Dan James to Rashford goal against Liverpool some years ago and all I could do is imagine Antony in that situation turning around and passing backwards on the break

It is remarkeable test he always PlayStation on the same level, since day one he seems to be doing exactly the same things. Those things are not good enough, and will probably out him in the market under new manager, but yeah, he is very stable in that way.

Painfully limited player. Quite an unbelievable piece of recruitment really. Can't fault him too much, he works hard but he is just nowhere near the level.

He is lucky Sancho has made it his goal to be the worst transfer in the history of the club. Because if it wasn't for Sancho, it would definitely be Antony.

I never expected someone to displace Sanchez anytime soon, and then these two managed to do it within two years.

He is making Mudryk look good. Ten Hag should have very little say in transfer decisions.

Very limited footballer and problematic off the field. Considering the price tag, could be considered the worst signing in Man Utd's history. It's between him and Sancho(although Sancho is still a better, more talented player). I realized that Ten Hag is not really a top coach when he insisted on bringing Antony to the team, for that ridiculous price. That was around December last year.

Only Saudis can save us from him and his wages.

I agree with that although Sancho’s been even worse half the time. Not talent related but with Sancho he barely even puts the effort it so you play Antony regardless.

That’s how bad it’s gotten. Imagine spending £160m on two wingers combined 500k+ wages and still thinking let’s use the youth

Sancho was bought as a right winger then we decided he isn’t one for example. Crazy! Two summers in a row.

If we could mix somehow Antony's work rate and Sancho's technical talent - we would get a pretty decent footballer :D.

The money we paid for this guy :wenger:, seems like our RW options are non existent after him though
Whatsup with Amad??
Meh... had a good moment when he pressed, got the ball which turned into a good Rashford chance and was usefull as an outlet on the right. Good cross to Rashford that Rashford turned into a decent chance for Hojlund.

Ofcourse he also had his cut inside followed by a weak roller shot moment and just generally being a bit shit in everything you would expect of a Brazilian winger.
Rashford did great there and so did Antony. We’re missing chances like that, I rarely ever see us put a ball across goal. We try that 9 more times I think we score. That was inspiring to see.

as for his shots, management gotta tell him to forget them for now. Put the balls in to the box.
He could really do with finding a burst of pace from somewhere, if he was a little quicker he could be deadly.

As it is, he seems to slow us down quite a bit, has some nice moments (like the cross field ball to Rashford that should have been put in the net by Hojlund, and winning the ball that led to Rashford missing a great chance) but wasn't really at the races otherwise.
He definitely slows us down when he cuts back and hesitates, I don’t ever see Dalot over lapping him, maybe I’m wrong. I’m crazy so I’d rather see Antony at RB for at least a game.

People say he actually stays wide, but there’s no point in staying wide if most of the balls get cut back and passed further down the line. My other crazy idea was when we were so short up front was playing him centrally so his shots came form a closer position and because at the RW it’s a huge miss.

I think we've seen enough of him to know he really isn't any good. He can't beat a man, can't really create much, and isn't a goal threat.

Started watching the Beckham documentary and realised how far my expectations have sank where I thought this guys performances were reasonably acceptable

And that's just it. We used to have wingers who looked to assist when they had the ball at their feet. Now our wingers just want to score.

Two of the biggest RWFs in Antony and Sancho.

And they end up performing in the same level (or even arguably below) Dan James that we sold for peanuts. Hell we can play Mbappe there and he'd turn shite overnight passing backwards 30 times in 90 mins.

He's shocking, at that price. He's got one trick + he tracks back, I think. And he wasn't that much better in the dutch league, as far as I know. It's just a much weaker league

Agree although knowing our luck he’d fall out with the manager and be banished from the squad anyways

Thats tame. Combine Lingard and Sancho and you have the ultimate giant clubs destroyer. The only downside is its our club thats gettinf destroyed.

ETH coached this man, saw him up close at Ajax and thought he would be a good addition? Shocking

He was better at Ajax. Similar to how Sancho looked better at Dortmund.

Both massively flattered to deceive for two reasons - 1) They played against really weak defences 2) They played in very attacking teams that scored a lot.

I still have their respective league goals in their final seasons at Ajax/Dortmund in memory - the quality of defending for most of them were really poor.

Not sure what ETH sees in him.
He sees a brilliant Brazilian RW. He dreams if Antony. I'm not even joking. It's the only explanation for coaching him then buying him for 100 mill. That's the scary thing about Ten Haag. It's blatenly obvious to even us fans that he's a dud. Even if he can't see it. He must have talked to his coaches and assistants and they must have told him that Antony is too limited.

The only other possibility is that he knows dull well but Antony is a good friend and he brought him to Ajax and feels he has an obligation to him in spite of his job at United.

Either way Ten Haag fkd us over.

I often think that a lot of the criticism on him is unfair, especially earlier this season where he actually had quite a few good games before having his break. Obviously not worth what we paid for him, but in general he's nowhere near as bad as what a lot of people make out.

Had an absolute shocker in this one though.

He was slightly better, but nowhere near Sancho in his Dortmund days.

Look at Antony clips from Ajax and can you really tell a difference to what he's doing now? I can't, not really. He's doing the same things in non functional team and against tougher opposition, so he looks worse. But it's the same player who was at Ajax, what makes this transfer look even worse and in any corporation heads would roll for spending that fee for such a limited player.

This is nothing like Sancho situation though (which is entirely on the player).
