Hard to see any hope for him redeeming himself. Can't see what the attributes are to cling to. He is a Dutch league or Turkish league type player. Needs a slower league with less competitive and physical duels, he would look better there because of course his technique isn't completely hopeless. He is so easy for PL defenders, must be one of their easiest games of the season.

People always insisted he was important for holding the width

He had 1300-odd minutes for us this season. Irrespective of who the manager is, or what the financial logistics are, it's crucial that we replace at least 80% of that time with a better player in the coming season.

The worst signing in PL history for me.

Absolutely. Even without signings that’s possible. If Rashford gets his act together we can play him and Garnacho, and at other times it could be Garnacho and Amad.

Obviously still think we need a signing for wide forward, but Antony should be well down in the pecking order regardless.

If he refuses to develop his right foot, the next manager should refuse to play Antony until he does develop his right foot. There's zero chance we'll find a buyer for Antony right now even at 20m. Maybe 10m.

There isn't a salvageable player in there, just got to cut the loss and move on. No point in dragging it out.

Ah yes. He’s a Brazil national team footballer valued at over 50m who apparently can’t do any of these basics in bold. Keep the hyperboles coming…
I've said this time and time again here: we hand out caps like candy. Being a Brazil international is a meaningless point.

I’m not saying he’s a world class player because he is in the Brazil setup. The other poster was going so far over the top with the BS - basically implying that Antony can’t kick a ball.

There has to be some basic logic to the Antony hate. Saying he is bad at passing, crossing, shooting and dribbling is just nonsense.

He is average at passing, bad at crossing, average at shooting and ok at dribbling.

Sancho will be sold regardless on who is the manager. For his own career, he needs to take a pay cut or spend the next season with the reserve until his contract is up. I wouldn't be surprised that he decide to stay and go on loan at other club until he leaves free. Sancho isn't suited for the English league, the pace and physicality is too difficult for him. He could do well in the German or Italian league. I hope to see him gone ASAP.

Special training regime in the offseason where he is not allowed to use his left foot, if we don't manage to offload him.

I think Ten Hag will get a tune out of him.
Odd feeling.

maybe that’s the feeling ten hag had and it almost got him fired but idk.

Yeah ten Hag was not alone in that I'm sure.

I'm done with Antony and think I've seen enough to know he's not the one and never will be. Does anyone remember the stick Nani used to get for some of his idiosyncrasies? What a player he was compared to this nothing player. The least exciting Brazillian winger ever to leave Brazil and we somehow paid £80m for him. Unbelievable.

When you're supposed main attribute as a winger is that you'll run back a lot you know there's an issue. There's also the problem that I don't think you could like him if you reared him, seems to have such an overly combative attitude for someone so shite.

Anthony's not good enough, very close to calling him a lost cause but he does work hard for the team which should always be the prerogative.

He's easily the club's worst signing for me, taking into account his fee and the level of player he is in terms of quality.

He needs to be sold.

I honestly got bad vibes from him from the goal celebration against Arsenal, on his debut. I know it might be a small thing, a minutiae, but that celebration was just too long, and it wasn't a special goal to warrant such a celebration, from a technical and difficulty level. I thought it might just be pressure relieved from his chest, but it just seemed wrong to do two/three different celebrations for a single goal.

Now I think he started believing in his own hype and that he had made it, which 200k a week can make a player think, hence his childish and public reactions when he was told to play left back, like "I'm too good to play left back", when in fact he was hailed mostly for his defensive work, even thought, he supposed to attacking player. It's also visible in his actions on the field when something goes against him, that he believes that referees should side with him, and gives them these childish stares that do nothing.

He will be super hard to move, given his wage and how genuinely bad he is. The fact he hasn't improved his right foot at all tells me that he thinks he is a finished product, and that he doesn't need to work on himself, which is a huge problem for United.

I wouldn't give him a single minute above a fit Amad. He needs to go elsewhere and we will probably have to fund a lot of it.

Spending large amounts on Pogba and Sancho you could understand the transfer. They had done very well for top clubs in the top 5 leagues. Antony for the money spent on him wasn't one of the outstanding attackers of the Eredivisie. I think if we had got him for 25m we would be okay with him as a backup hard working winger. But not for the money we spent.

One of the worst transfers in football history.

He'll stink on the bench for 3 more years until we can finally get rid of him.

Big portion of why I wanted ETH sacked is this transfer.

He was good for him at Ajax, infact one of the reasons he wanted him was because he felt he could put his trust in him. I feel ETH has learned the hard way that the gulf in class between Dutch league and premier league at a club like United is huge. Massive learning curve for a manager making that jump.

I’m not even sure it’s this, there’s definitely a drop off but there are many Dutch league players who do ‘ok’ or better. There’s something about Antony’s specific style that just seems so at odds with a) how we have ended up playing and b) dealing with a faster league.

At least that’s what I’m hoping and someone like Inter fancy a £30m punt.

He’s struggled with the speed and physicality of this league. He would probably do well in a slower league where he can use his skills to beat a man. It doesn’t work here, he just gets outmuscled off the ball or gets stopped in his tracks.

it’s still possible he could have a better season next season. One thing I didn’t like was his attitude towards ETH this season, when being asked to cover a different position to help the team when it was on its knees. ETH bought him here and has showed a lot of faith in him, you’d hope he would run through walls for him.. but it hasn’t appeared that way. Disappointing all round. Along with all the off pitch stuff, it’s been a terrible transfer so far really.

Another Tony Martial - someone who might make the odd appearance whilst we spend a absolute fortune in wages, only to leave on a free at the end of the contract.

He wasnt that good at Ajax though. Was here for 2 seasons, and I remember debating with my mates after the first season whether we liked him or not. Then his second season, he was better but definitely not spectactular. Look at his Ajax stats, didnt really set the Eredivisie alight or anything

that’s interesting. ETH clearly sees something in him to put so much faith in him. Maybe he’s just a unlikable player who is really not that good then…

Attitude wise I give him a little slack because it had been very good for a while despite the criticism and I think it just finally broke him. He obviously had a lot going on off the field as well.

I agree, when I see him play the main thing now I think is he’s simply a bit weak. You can have slower wide men, it’s not like everyone has to be Salah, but he’s got such an average top speed and I wouldn’t call him massively dynamic that he’ll beat a man (he actually isn’t too bad at the initial getting past them) but then they’ll just catch him back up and dispossess him or muscle him off the ball. Even that trademark left footed shot to the far post, he often hits them with decent accuracy but so little power it looks almost like a floated cross for a shot.

I will say he’d look a bit better in a possession heavy system because he’s got good vision for give and go’s and nice touches around the box but it still wouldn’t be at the level we’d likely want.

No chance he will go out of his way to start him next season. He is far to stubborn to admit he is wrong
He should only get on the pitch for last 10mins to rest our starting side and see what he shows then.
