This line of thinking confuses me every time it comes up. Are you of the belief that you have identified a player that the Man United scouting system have not?

The scouts have a long list of players worldwide so no but our scouts seem to only take real value and importance to prem proven or established players across europe

You do realise ETH had his own list of targets in the summer and the club had a list from the previous scouts of targets and the priority was getting ETH's targets? Doku was not on the list of targets.

Richarlison, Pau Torres, Boussama, and Rice were the clubs priority targets in the summer which were vetoed in favour of going after, ETHpriority targets who were de jong, antony, timber and apparently Nunes

Never saw anything that showed his peak would be better than what Nani displayed while he was here, and I stand by that. Cute tricks, but a lot else in it. I'll be glad to be wrong.
If Antony can reach Nani level we'll be lucky. Nani was world class for a couple of seasons.

Antony is so far doing as some of us expected. Not bad, not great, vastly overpriced. I think he'll never go down as a decent value signing.

I was defending him like crazy these past couple of days but he was absolute shite yesterday, nothing went right for him. Lost every duel, the only ones he "won" were by fouling his opponent. Sloppy passing. Indecisiveness. Bad finishing. A game to quickly forget. Needs to do way better against Wolves.

If he emulates Nani he'll have been an excellent signing?

Antony against Forrest was poor. Bad decision making especially. He does work hard, for that he deserves our support.

He’s losing his way and needs to get back on track asap. He probably will improve.

That would be a fantastic addition to the squad then. Still not worth what we've paid for but who cares.

Rahpinha had nothing to do with Antony valuation or us dithering. There's a myth that if he went in for him earlier we'd have got him for 40 million when in fact from the beginning of the transfer window Ajax's valuation of him was reported to be 60-80 million. This was because they already lost Gravenberch and Mazraoui in pre agreement last january to Bayern.

Here's an article from early June where Ajax wanted 70- 80 million from the opening of the window

Im not agreeing. This was the argument in his thread

From his stats and Youtube clips at Ajax I wasn't expecting all that much to be honest. I'm sure those that rate him highly probably also think we overpaid too.

He's still young and it's early days so plenty of time to improve. My main worry is that I think Sancho is a more talented player with some similar traits to Antony and he has struggled.

Think he needs at least a couple of seasons before making any major judgements though.

Poor performance from Antony yesterday and from what Ive seen so far Im not convinced he’ll ever reach the heights to justify his price tag.

However, ten Hag was very clear before the World Cup began that the players that would struggle most arent the ones who played lots of games, nor the ones that didnt go - but the ones who go to the world cup and sit on the bench.

Hes not fit now, let alone match fit - so I’m not going to judge him based on the next few games.

He scored 18 goals last season for Rennais at 19 years old in Ligue 1. Antony at 22 scored what 8 goals in Eredivisie in a one of the best teams in a 2 horse league

Why would you even bother just telling lies about things that people can check with google in five seconds?

The lad hasn't scored 18 goals in his whole career.

This is so fecking funny because Doku has scored 3 in 53 Ligue 1 games. 1 league goal last season. So either you’re making things up or misread some stats somewhere. Maybe confused him with Jonathan David?

He started quite strong for us but has struggled lately. Young lad that needs our support.

I wouldn't rate Doku higher than Antony, but there was other alternatives United could have gone for. Dembele could have been signed for free, Moussa Diaby is a more energetic player etc.

Even in Belgium (the even worse version of the Eredivisie) he scored 3 goals at most in one season. It’s impressive how confident he was at being so wrong

There were alternatives, but we went for Antony. Let’s - maybe - give him more than 4 months of football before we write him off.

The one redeeming factor is Ten Haag. He must think he's the bees knees, the cats pajamas, the monkeys eyebrows. You would think as his ex player he would know. Therefore for now I still think he will come good.

Good post and agree with much of it.

He’s had what, 8 games here? Interrupted by having had no pre season, injury and now the World Cup break (and disappointment with Brazil).

Give him time to settle, not only to the league but to his new team mates and the country he’s moved to.

His price tag really isn’t his fault and those judging him with some sort of finality after everything I’ve just said are idiots.
I would imagine that there would be similar posts to this on Liverpool sites regarding donkey boy

Posts like this make me laugh. Do you just make up shit as you post in an attempt to make it believable? Jeremy Doku a bigger talent than Antony

Those who keep mentioning price, I try to assess him against a £50million player. Quite simply nobody really should be purchased for 86 million direct from the Bundesliga as that is top tier proven money but its not his fault. We can all see he will never live up to it so it's best to compare him to Raphinha, Richarlison, Sterling, type players.

 your opinion on anything is now completely worthless.
