He has got everything he needs to be a big success here and he will be, just give him time to adapt
His workrate is amazing by the way

Twitter is calling him 21 average you know. Hope he comes good for us. Our luck with big signings has to turn sometime, right?
I was thinking more along the lines of adm, lukaku, sanchez(know he was in exchange for mkhitaryan, but he was on a gazillion pounds), Pogba tbh. But like you said, casemiro and Lisandro have been great, so we just have to roll with it, I guess.Casemiro and Lisandro look great tbf.
It's not luck. Our club has no proper planning or infrastructure in place for transfers / recruitment. Our track record is pretty much what you'd expect as a result of that.Twitter is calling him 21 average you know. Hope he comes good for us. Our luck with big signings has to turn sometime, right?
We need to let that close to meaningless stat go at one point, is a player that scores in his first three starts better than a player who doesn't but scores 6 goals in the next 10 games?
Old pizza face needs to step it up.
Agreed, he is exciting and young emough to improve his game. Like Sancho too many already writing him off... we are not far off having amazing strength in depth on both wings. Give the lad a chance to settle.Everyone knows we got robbed by Ajax. But I have confidence he will turn out good. Today was just a bad day for him, he usually kept the ball better.
One of the issues with being highly priced. Obviously the price isn't his fault but I think there's less pressure on him if we get him for 30m Vs the amount we paid.A classy comment about one of our own players...
I don't think he was as bad as everyone makes out tonight. Fairly poor performance, tried things that didn't work out, but good workrate. To me he looks like he hasn't figured out the league yet, which I'm ok with at this stage.
He is a winger and I did not see him beat his marker once tonight and Forest are cellar dwellers....I think some do not know what flair means! What flair? Seriously what are people watching.

It’s absolutely bizarre as both arrived with a reputation for being skilful dribblers.
And Garnacho is on for about 20mins and he is going straight for his marker so it is obviously not something that the manager is telling them to do.This has been a theme for both Antony & Sancho from the moment they both signed for the club. Neither of them seem willing, or able, to take on and beat a man. It makes our attack incredibly one paced & predictable as everything they do is infront of the defence as they can’t get in behind. Most attacks break down with them passing sideways or backwards because they just can’t get past their man or offer any penetration.

And then you blame people for going off the deep end, when you basically go the opposite way to somehow justify his purchase. Or your ceiling for world class is extremely low.The reactions to his performance in the Match thread were typically hysterical. What's sad is that half of them come from the same people that hyped him to the high heavens after his first few games. It really did make for toxic reading today, and I was (and still am) saddened by the vitriol spouted by some of our "supporters" after a player has a bad game or two. Sentiments included him 'being worse than Lingard. ' a waste of money and space', 'utter shit', 'worse signing than Sancho', 'a complete flop', etc etc. I really have no clue why people have to go off the deep end on the basis of one or two performances. Everything is always so absolute and extreme in their eyes, but the reality is always much more nuanced, and ultimately sensible. We've all seen this kind of sickening tearing down of a player so many times before, and 8/10 times the posters end up with egg on their face (well they would if they had any sense of integrity), only to jump back on the bandwagon the next time he has a good game.
It's pretty simple that he didn't play well today, but that's all that is. He is a very good player, who will have more bad days at the office, but that doesn't make him shit. I am excited to see how he'll develop with us, and excited that he offers us something different. He has an incredible work rate and is fiercely competitive. When he signed I was fully prepared to give him a full season to settle in, and nothing I've seen changes that. I remain a big fan of his signing, and am ready to be patient as he adapts to a new country, league, and level of football. He has all the tools needed to be a big success. Despite being really poor on the ball today, his movement and workrate was world class.
Oh feck off! What a ridiculous statement to make!
I really fecking hope he makes you eat your words so you don't come on this site and post such bullshit again!
He plays for our team, support him and hope he comes good. I'm fecking sick of this habit amongst our own fanbase that insists on shitting on our own players, it's ridiculous.
And yet players like James and Elanga get slated by our own fan base for not being good enough to play at this level while the same fans find any reason to excuse the very expensive imports that simply do not measure up.I hope he does too, but my statement isn't crazy. Your being irrationally defensive. I can support the players while criticizing the transfer fee.
We've spent £150M on Sancho and Antony with £500k p/w in wages. And neither are so far close to showing their worth. It's gambles like this that have made us mediocre because other clubs like Liverpool make similar gambles at half the risk (cost).
And then you blame people for going off the deep end, when you basically go the opposite way to somehow justify his purchase. Or your ceiling for world class is extremely low.
I am willing to give him time too as he is very new in a team which is still nowhere near where we intend to be in a couple of seasons. My biggest concern with him is his inability to take on his defender. There was a situation today when we were on a fast counter attack. He had acres of space in front of him with just one player to beat (who was back pedaling and wasn't even in a good shape to slow him down). Even if he did a kick and run he would have passed his man if he believed in his pace. What he did instead was try this extravagant pass from the midfield which was cut out.
That shows he either does not believe in himself to beat his man or he just does not have the guile to do that. That's my main concern and this was Forest, not even a mid-table club.
You can give anyone chance after chance, but so far he has shown very little as far his dribbling ability goes. Unless he actually improves that, he will hamper our attacks more and more and it will become very evident soon enough.
...
Which then brings us to the elephant in the room, the price. If you are not bothered about it then that's fine, but it speaks to how bad we are as a club wrt to identifying talents and negotiating that we let Ajax pull our pants down for him. For what he is (and the potential he has) we could have found someone cheaper on the continent, who might not be the same age, but was cheaper and would likely be more effective. I personally would have preferred we spent some of that money on Diaby at Leverkusen instead if we absolutely needed that profile of player.
I expect him to be better than this with experience, but I don't see this huge potential that everyone else seem to see. If anything I see him closer to a Raphina than a Vinicius Jnr.
I think he works hard tbh. It’s what he brings other than that is the question. Neymar broke all sense regarding transfer fees. 100 million used to get you a prime Gareth bale back in the day.Vastly overrated. Compare to Saka, or Mahrez for example.
Antony needs to show some humility and maturity in his game. The £100m was a joke and I'm quite perplexed as to why ETH actually swallowed that.
I expect our players to work hard. That should be a given.
I'm not trying to discard it, I'm just saying cause of the price people are too harsh. I get people want goal and assists but sometimes it's as if cause he's 100 million worth he should have 2 goals and 3 assists per game to be satisfied. Fans being completely impatient shocker. Why some people try to discard price? With price come expectations. Malacia is 15 mil and he is not slacked much. He is playing average and nobody is complaining much. He is playing according to his price. Antony is payed 100 mil. When you pay 100 million for something, especially attacker, excuses are gone. From 100 mil attacker fans can demand goals and assists.
WowOld pizza face needs to step it up.
We dont do that here.Antony will come good. Patience please.
I am starting to worry a bit about him too, he has the basics right - food first touch, pace, passing, crosses and runs but he aint putting balls on the money to create chances. His play is just basic - receive the ball, dribble a bit and make a safe pass - he is not doing anything else not gaining the yards to advance play and like I said he is a bit limited creatively.Vastly overrated. Compare to Saka, or Mahrez for example.

Good response. Not that I expected more from you having seen your posts around here.Based solely on your response, it would appear either your reading or comprehension skills are quite poor.
