It’s never the most important. It may sometimes be the best pass but ultimately the final action is always the most important. We’ll have to agree to disagree on this. His stats tell all.

This is just daft - without that pass you have no final action!

That’s true of every touch in the build up. The most important will always be the last.

Exactly so saying he didn't create anything contradicts everything you said. He was integral to that passage of play.

fecking hell. He created a crossing opportunity. If that’s what you’re hanging your hat on then knock yourself out. It says more than I can say about how little he actually creates.

Yeah he only danced passed 3 defenders to create that chance, but lets ignore that because 'it's not the final pass'. Silly logic.

Let’s also ignore him literally creating less big chances than Wan Bissaka all season. Might as still stick a full back out there.

For the second time - I'm not talking about the season, i was talk about THIS game specifically, he was the only player creating anything and taking him off made it easier for Newcastle.

But he created 1 chance, so yes we might as well of changed because nothing was working
Him included

Yes, but I disagree with what you are calling creative. Any measurement for creative stats also disagrees with you. Do you know what made the game easier for Newcastle? Antony turning back on a counter attack and losing all momentum. Which happens at least once a game.

His job isn't just to create chances though - its to be a threat too, Burn couldn't handle him and when he came of the only threat we had was gone. Sancho came on and was invisible.

2 shots, 2 dribbles, 85% pass success - these are the best creative stats of any United player during the game according to WhoScored, so no they don't disagree with me.

I'm not saying he was outstanding - my point was he was the best of a bad bunch and was Newcastle's only concern.

Don’t be daft man, your job as a winger is to create chances
Otherwise you’re not a threat

and he created more than any other United player during the game. Want to try again? He was our only threat.

He played Weghorst in for a half chance. Can't remember anything else he did.

Again his contribution at the weekend is being massively overacted by his fans on here. He wasn't our worst player, correct, but he still wasn't good either.

Rashford and Bruno regularly get goals and assists when they don't play well for us. Antony needs to contribute a lot more. Zero assists in the PL by April is absolutely pathetic. Let's not pretend otherwise. He's only got 1 assist in all comps too and that came against a Championship club.

Martial created a chance after a couple minutes of being on ?
so I disagree with only chance
But also, I’m not going to harp on about 1 chance
That is piss poor, being “not as bad as the rest” is still not good enough
Especially when he had more opportunities to create, ok he created a chance, he had opportunities to create much more

Chance for Sabizer and Dalot.

i couldn't care less if it was Pellistri playing RW - statistically he was our best attacker during the game and shouldn't have been taken off.

i didn't say he created our only chance. I said he created more than any other United player.

We know its not good enough - that much is obvious. Generally you take off your worst performers, not your best ones.

Don't think he was the worst on the day as I said but over the season he's not been good enough. Nowhere near.

He won't ever be good enough either unless he develop a right foot. To be that one footed you have to have amazing pace and skill to compensate and he doesn't.

That might be the case - but I think he has enough to be coached into a good player after his debut season. He's young and athletic enough to be much better - shows far more promise than Sancho imo - who lacks the desire and aggression Antony has.

Tbh being better than Sancho isn't really saying an awful lot is it? He looks like he's given up on football to me. Probably got too much money and too many distractions off the pitch.

For 84m I thought we were getting a class player but he's not even as good as Garnacho.

I thought he was starting to put together a good partnership with Dalot on the right wing before the World Cup and I seem to remember our attacking stats reflecting this with a big increase in overall play down that flank. It's a shame that flank has become an issue again with Sancho offering very little as an alternative :(

Still think he'll hit the total of 10 goals before the season is out but his lack of assists is a big concern.

I'm not sure what's the issue here, Antony has underwhelmed overall this season but in the last game, he was the only forward who was some threat to Newcastle's defence. Unlike the winger on the other side, he was also making an effort defensively.

Taking him off was another mistake Ten Hag did on Sunday and if he actually bought a player who can't last more than 60 minutes, that's another problem altogether.

He's 23 in his debut season - still has plenty of time to improve and has scored some important goals. He also does a good job defensively, pressing and tackling. Will expect much more from him next season - but i don't think he's been as bad as some on here make out.

7 goals across all competitions is just okay. Lower end of okay but I will give you that one just.

One assist all season though (Against Reading)

This is a player who cost 84m. You can't come here for that kind of money and not deliver.

He won't kick on either because his weaknesses don't look coachable. Defenders have already worked him out. You can't be so one footed unless you're a superstar or incredibly quick. He's neither.

There’s nothing creative about having a punt from 20 plus yards. I’m done with this.

We obviously overpaid for him.

Remains to be seen how he turns out - but I'm not going to give up on a 23yo in his first season - he's having a better season than Richarlson, Sterling and similar to Grealish imo.

I hope you're right but I can't see it.

Unless he develops an extra yard of pace or a right foot he's always going to be up against it. PL defenders aren't rubbish or stupid. If he doesn't change his game up he's going to struggle.

Well it’s not good though is it
We don’t need “not bad” for 100 mil we need star player
He’s probably at best a squad rotation player

Wasn't the transfer fee £85m? He's not an 85m player, but had we tried signing him at the start of the window then Ajax probably would've accepted 55-60m. Unfortunately we had an inexperienced Murtough dithering over transfers for months. It's not Antony's fault we overpaid for him.

Well he created 1 chance, so that’s pretty much saying he created the only chance if it was more than any other player ?
And Bruno created the martial one, ish

anyway he’s bang average

No it’s his fault he doesn’t create anywhere enough, he shouldn’t of been brought in

Go to be bed mate haha

Think he’ll benefit from a decent right back being signed. As it is he’s handling the right side on his own as Wan Bissaka doesn’t even know what an overlap is. Rashford has Shaw for backup, Antony is left to pass it inside and hence looks a bit toothless without space to run into.

Mitoma has 11 g/a in his last 15 PL games. Antony has 3 all season.
