my bad that's 12 PM in my place yesterday.There's a chance of Griezmann staying at Atletico, but I think he will end up at Barca... Same as Lenglet and a new CM.
Griezmann could be great for us but IMO the last transfer window was the opportunity to sign him. Also, we already signed Sanchez as our main player in the attack (with high wages). Unfortunately, that ship has sailed.

No harm having another main player in attack though. Besides Sanchez and Lukaku, the other spot in our front 3 is always a rotation option between Mata, Jesse, Rashford or Martial. Getting Griezmann in means we have a first choice front 3, with the other 4 being the rotation options. A bit harsh of them, especially Lingard who I think has performed well this past season, but if we want to win titles, we have to do so. Martial and Rashford should just knuckle down and make sure that when Sanchez starts to show his age in the near future, they are first choice to replace him. I would keep Mata provided he does not mind being a rotation option. I think Barca will be wiser spending their money on a new CM for now, since they are pretty light in that department and have already spent most of their Neymar money.

Totally agree with you, I would love to have Griezmann. My point was that we just signed Sanchez, so maybe we are not looking for another big star. Mainly because Mourinho said he was happy with our attack.
I would be over the moon if we sign a top player like Griezmann, Bale or Dybala for our attack. Being realistic, Bale would fit better on the RW, but Madrid will ask crazy money for him. That's why Griezmann would be a smarter buy.
BTW, I know Griezmann could play as our RW. My only concern is that he is way better through the center, behind the striker or even as a forward. He would not provide the width we need (neither Valencia/Dalot).
If Mourinho signs him, he could play him in his best position (similar to Sanchez who never played as RW for us). But let's wait and see what happens.

No one. I don't think there is anyone out there who can realistically improve our RW the same as these players can. I rather throw Dalot in the mix - maybe he can develop in a way that Bale did, or continue to let either Rashford or Martial grow into the role.
If Griezmann comes, I do hope we move away from a 433 with wingers to a 4312 similar to Real Madrid. Griezmann up front with Lukaku, Sanchez probing behind them and Pogba and Fred pushing up the midfield. Full backs will be very important since they will keep the width. Rashford, Martial and Lingard all rotational with the first choice front 3, and allows them to all play in their favoured positions (striker or no.10) rather than being shafted out to the wings. This will mean that during defensive transitions, Pogba and Fred have to pull wide to help any overload on the flanks by the opponents, while Sanchez and Griezmann have to drop back to cover any gaps left by them when they go wide. The 2 of them have the work rate and intelligence to do so though, so I don't think it will be a problem.
I rather we go for Bale. Even if he gets injured, will give the understudies more game time!

Re the rumours: I don't think he's going to barca. I think it's somewhere around 85% atletico and 15% MUFC. We have a chance if we are interested now, but i've got the feeling we may be waiting for the bale decision first.
No one credible is reporting griezmann to MUFC in this window so far. I'm loving the muppetry of the thread, but Castles is being pretty open with the bale talk so far. Compare that to griezmann. It's all based on a redit ITK, a marketing ITK and the wonderful muppetry of the users here

Do not underestimate the power of the (muppet) Force! If this transfer happens, it will be a bigger version of the Lukaku transfer. Everyone including Di Marzio was saying we were going to get Morata, and then the Lukaku deal just appeared and was resolved in like, 2 days? These are crazy times that we live in, crazy I tell you! Sure, but even the lukaku deal actually started getting whispers that it was a coup by us against chelsea. Also take into account that Jamie Jackson said AGES before that on a Full times devils video that Jose was "obsessed with lukaku".

Well Jose is obviously obsessed with Griezmann too, given that he tried to get him when at Chelsea, and we almost got him last season as well. Anyway, it should all be over before the World Cup and we can concentrate on watching that instead of the Twitterverse.

Griezmann is younger and better than Bale, and can even play upfront when Lukaku isn't available. If Mou is waiting for the Bale situation over Griezmann, then I'm really not sure what he's thinking. No idea why we got Sanchez over Griezmann tbh, especially when Martial was on form at the time, not to mention Rashford was also playing better. We need a RW, not another LW player. If we get Bale over Griezmann as well I'm gonna be really annoyed.

Griezmann did mention he would announce his decision before the World Cup started too. If he wants to complete the medicals, signing and photoshoots, then he has to announce it either tonight, tomorrow or Monday at the latest. We also have to announce that Kohler deal soon as well!
Of course he could also announce he stays at Atletico, and then there will be no need to fly all over the place...
Is the Kohler deal really true though? So far only goal.com reported it and it almost seemed like they sourced it from the Reddit guy!
Nope nothing concrete on the front as well. More and more news coming out today about Barca being close to getting Griezmann as well, with Abidal and Bartomeu all reportedly saying the deal will be done etc etc. I hope we gazump them good.

He really could play in that right forward role for us, because Jose likes his wingers to link with the midfield and play in between the lines, as opposed to keeping the width.

Not necessarily, he will sort it before the WC but he could announce it after. The reason for that is that Deschamps doesn't allow agents in the National team camp.

there's no way dechamps is letting a transfer saga continue up to the first france game. He'd want Griezmann 100% focused on the game plan for the week. It will either sort it today/sunday/monday at the latest, it's highly likely that he will leak the decision to the press instead of announcing it in a press conference.
If he's staying at AM, they could easily announce it on their end as well.

I follow him on twitter and have been for years because I like some of his political opinions. I’ve seen him tweet about football maybe, 4/5 times max.
So for him to come out with that tweet is quite out of character tbh.

the only thing that makes this feel dodgy is that no reputable journo is picking it up. I can fully get on board with marketing ITK's getting whiff of a transfer, what i don't get is why ONLY marketing ITK's are saying something
From what I can see his newest contract was signed on the 30th of June. That’s when the buyout clause increased to 200mil or whatever it was. I’d imagine that that clause deactivates around the same time, bringing it back down to the 90 mil or whatever it was previous.
The Spanish transfer window from what I’ve read opens 2nd of July and the ban on Atletico was upheld 1st of July 2017, so I’m guessing any movement will be around those dates. Maybe he will come out and say where he is going/staying before the tournament but to me I think that would cause more hassle for him personally. Think their first group game is the 16th so you’d imagine it would have been done already.

I guess we can always agree with Atletico a transfer fee that is the same as the old release clause, since 1)it will be a matter of time 2)keeps Barca away 3)in everyone's best interests so there are less distractions. Same here, I think they’re offering him astronomical wages for them, can’t really see why he’d want to leave. He’s as likely to win a league or champs league with them as he is us, maybe his chances increase slightly with Barca but not massively so.
Be real, he'd be guaranteed a major trophy practically every year at Barca.
Looking at the recent tweet out up by the French FA, Pogba and Griezmann are really close buddies.
If he's coming to United, he's hardly going to announce it the day before the WC. Anything can happen in the following 4 weeks.
