Antoine Griezmann

Eh? That's exactly what he did.
We begged him to join us, said we'd make him the most expensive player ever on huge wages. He said, "No thanks, I'll stay where I am."
What he did was the very definition of snubbing us.
No we agreed to sign him and pay his release clause but after Atletico Madrid had their transfer ban upheld Griezmann decided to stay one more season as Atletico couldn't replace him. He acted with dignity but many United fans took that as a snub, ficle bunch.

He agreed a bumper deal where he would get an increased wage for his loyalty but his release clause would remain at €100 million next summer when he can leave and they can replace him.

If Costa moves in Jaunuary United could even make their move then instead, either way Griezmann won't be an Atletico Madrid player by this time next summer, he wants to win trophies.

Where would he play even if he did come? I'm assuming he'd take Mata's place, and maybe Mkhi would move out further right?

Yeah.

Lukaku
Martial - Greizmann - Mkhi
Matic - Pogba

Just give us the league title now!

He doesn't look happy at atletico at all; really out of sorts yesterday.

January can't come fast enough for him!

Getting a world class right winger (not that any exist...) instead of Griezmann would improve us way more IMO. Obviously won't say no and still feel he'll come, but we have quality #10's at the club and getting griezmann would make some like Mkhitaryan and Mata more or less pointless. Basically if there's 1 dream signing we can get it would be Ousmane Dembele.

I think we could do with both types of players. We need that extra little bit of star quality up top and still need another winger. For now it'll be Ibrahimovic as a back-up to Lukaku, but next summer we could/should aim for attacking depth as follows:

ST: Lukaku, Rashford
AM/SS: Griezmann, Mkhitaryan
LW: Martial, Lingard
RW: ??, Mata

It's his own fault, he chose not to come.
Agreed, I guess they guilt tripped him to stay, I feel sorry for him really. Tried to do the honourable thing I just hope they stick to their words and let him leave in Jan.

Other than Osman Dembele, who is Barca bound and very expensive, there isn't a right winger that can play the role needed at good enough level to improve us more than getting Griezmann.

If we do get him, we can play him behind Lukaku and the right winger can be etiher Mkhitaryan or Mata. They can interchange throughout the match. Griezmann is left footed so he still gets a good angle from right side.

Quality but not sure where we'd play him.....we need left side Bale like player and I think we are done.
He'd replace Mkhi and Mata behind the striker primarily I reckon with the former(s) maybe being shunted to the right side more often.

Would sign him in a minute he's an instant upgrade in any of the 3 positions behind Lukaku.

I don't know if you are incredibly thick or what. How are those similar? We were never interested in the likes of Gaitan/Garay despite being linked with them every summer until they finally go somewhere else. This is the first transfer window where we are seriously linked with Griezmann, and every man and his dog saw it was happening until the transfer ban verdict came out of course. Griezmann was even interviewed on TV about it. But hey, let's ignore all those and pretend they didn't happen.

I understand that you are frustrated, but you don't need to take it out on me.
I was not the reason why he snubbed us.
If you want to vent your frustration, vent it at him, not me.

Than Griezmann.... No he isn't. That aside Mkhi and Griezmann could easily rotate position during a game.

It'd be Asymetric with Mhiki and Griezman rotating as you say and Pogba would just float in the hole. Perfect.

There were several reasons for signing Zlatan back again.
1. Zlatan was free, unfortunately his wages aren't...
2. I'm assuming that he'll be used when we're playing multiple games in a week which helps us give us depth as well as options to compete on every front
3. His experience would definitely help Lukaku better his game
4. Since Rooney vacated the No. 10, we have lost one of our shirt sellers and Ibrahimovic definitely brings that as well
5. I think Mourinho wanted additional firepower when it came to the strikers. We can now rely on Lukaku/ Zlatan/ Rashford as well as Martial which is a similar philosophy Ferguson had when he Cole/ Yorke/ Sheringham/ Solskjaer
6. Which brings me to my main reason, with Zlatan probably leaving at the end of summer, I feel we may actually go in for a striker and what better than to have Griezmann who would take over the No. 7 as well as integrate in the French speaking contingent (which Mourinho had mentioned about causing Martial to settle in this season)

If Dembele is worth roughly 150M (including bonus), 100M (from January onwards) for Griezmann is an absolute bargain.
(quoting "roughly 150M", you know, the +/- 10 or 20M doesn't really matter in this hyper-inflated market anymore, the world has turned upside down)

1. A club as big as Manchester United, if not the biggest (factors including finance, winning mentality, etc)
2. Strong team
3. Mourinho's effect
4. Aim for trophies, especially CL

His versatility of playing at AM/SS/RW and "you would fit a player of his quality into the system no matter what" counter the main argument against signing him like other positions of LB/RB/RW/LW should be given priorities. Even if his position clashes with Mkhi/Mata, he will be a huge upgrade and Jose will fit them into the system given their versatility.

As long as Barca don't hijack him from us (even after signing Dembele, who knows), I firmly believe Jose will want him and he will sign for us in Jan/next summer.

I think he is the only chance we have of getting a ready made world class attacker in the next 12 months.

He will leave and I make us the favourites.

My only concern is if Dembele doesn't work out and Barca try for Griezmann.

Fairly certain he will be a United player within 12 months. Looks a bargain at that release clause too.

Imagine by the end of January, our attacking options could include:

Lukaku, Rashford, Martial, Griezmann and Ibrahimovic

Seriously are you comparing Messi to what Man City have. In terms of his age, it wouldn't matter to Man City, as it will increase their profile significantly to have the GOAT in their ranks.

Man City is stacked. I honestly don't see the point. By this logic a CL winning team should spend at least half a billion in attack.

If he does worse than 114m+ pound Coutinho.

This is a really bad post man

Your opinion is just terrible and I wouldn't take it seriously if you hadn't typed this many words.

Everything you had quoted there is wrong.

He does't play in the team that play possession football.
You say he can't adapt to different needs of Jose, but Jose think otherwise and went after him in his Chelsea days and as well as he want to sign him this window of us.
Size doesn't matter as he thrive on movement and pace, technically better player, I think this are good qualities that would help him in the PL.

Err, what?

With these two comments, I'm guessing you've pretty much never watched Atletico or Griezmann play.

Atletico are basically built to be the answer against possession teams. To soak up pressure with every player working extremely hard to keep everything tight, and to then attack with skill and precision. I'd go so far to say that if there is any team in the world where you can be confident that a player would be able to fit Mourinho's style, it is Atletico. If anything Simeone insists on an even greater workrate than Jose. Griezmann included in that. It's probably one of the reasons why Mourinho did want him - unlike most players of his 'type' there's no risk that Griezmann wouldn't be able to handle the defensive responsibilities that Mourinho wants.

Just a super condensed reply, AG is a better fit for La Liga and possession football. I don't see him having the fortitude/size to be successful in EPL. I also would caution Jose to think about dropping 100 mil plus (maybe like 159 mil?) on a player that is not EPL tested. Finally, if he is successful he will go to Barca or Real anyways. So, at most he will stay for 2 years. He will leave around his prime for less than what MU paid for.

so much wrong this this post.

atletico don't play possession football
size is fecking irrelevant.
being epl tested is fecking irrelevant.
you're acting like he's some unknown quantity that Madrid or Barca aren't aware about. and he isn't going to alteticos rivals anyway. what are you on?
