I really hope Barca go for Greizmann in Jan or pay his buy out clause now. This would deter Dembele from moving there just yet.
If this was our player we would really like what he did.. He stayed and will stay for one more year then we will try again. We won't try for Griezmann again. He made his choice.

Why? Because you think we'll have a chance of getting Dembele that way? Dream on.

Hear, hereKinda hope we have fecked him off now, the twat snubbed us.
No he didn't.Kinda hope we have fecked him off now, the twat snubbed us.
No he didn't.
I hate this 'he snubbed us', 'feck him he had his chance' stuff. I would have loved him here and I'm angry we missed out on him due to Atletico's stupidity but does no one appreciate his loyalty to his club?! If we got a transfer ban for some reason I'm sure we'd be pissed as feck if let's say Pogba fecked off to another club and we had no way of getting a replacement. In the day and age where loyalty is rare in football I admire what AG did for Atletico, even if it's very frustrating for us. It was obvious he wanted to sign for us but he clearly has a lot of respect for the club who have made him into a star. In return Atletico will let him go next summer, and I hope we go for him again. Lovely player
Yes it's not the wings we should play him. He'd never accept that either. It's mhikis spot as the second striker that he'd be in for. He's a lovely player (no doubt) but where would you play him? In place of Mhiki.... sure but our main concern at the moment are the wings and Griezmann would be wasted on the wings.

I think the midfield and attack won't be static. Matic will be a one man midfield when the team is in attack, backed up by the defenders (like Lindeloeaf). Central attack will consist of Pogba and second striker. Lukaku is good enough to operate on his own.
I can't see it either. It's Lukakus spot he'd take, if any at all.The problem lies in the fact that Mourinho won't always go for that formation when he comes against the Barcas, Madrids and Bayerns.... And then if we played a 4-3-3 during those times, what position would Griezmann play then.... I mean he would be too valuable to be on the bench and you can't drop Lukaku either.... so he would have to play on the wings which in my opinion, it wouldn't be his best position.
Not happening this summer close thread.
I am too old and cynical to believe the "I didn't want to leave them in the lurch" cobblers. We will see when he moves to Barca in January or next summer, I am sure agents are always talking to one another, and I reckon he has held off to see what his options are. Frankly I wouldnt be surprised if he signed for Barca in this transfer window. Don't hate him, wouldn't blame him for choosing Barca over us.
Whatever Don Balon says means the opposite is true. Of course he's staying at Atletico 100%.
This time next summer a few more Mbappe/Ousmanes will have emerged and they might be higher on Mourinhos list than Greizmann.
Because no player ever name drops United and their desire to join us for any other reason?
I agree lol. I dont thik he is exactly what Jose wants at this particular time, and if his transfer fee has doubled, we wont be in for. Depending how this season pans out will determine if we need him next summer. Too many square pegs is no good. We have an happy squad and although its only one game, this season seems very promising already. It's amazing how quickly people become RAWK like if someone dares not join the mighty Man Utd.
People read too much into the number 7 thing. It's free because no-one has it, not because we're saving it for a signing 12 months away. Not sure about that. The fact that the number 7 shirt is free and his buyout clause returns to what it was suggests that there could be an agreement there...
here's hoping anyway...
That's the whole point isn't it? It's free because we haven't signed anyone that plays that role - which implies that at some point we will. I'm sure the club are also aware of the legendary nature of that shirt and the marketing potential of it going to a real star player.People read too much into the number 7 thing. We've signed Lukaku, Lindelof and Matic, none of whom were ever candidates for it.

But also really I was just saying that the fact it is available might well be attractive to Griezmann.
Apparently so, I would like to think that the idea of being United's number 7 still holds a unique appeal - especially if Becks was your hero. Ultimately though how we look thus season will probably have the biggest impact on whether he wants to come or not...more performances like the West Ham game should help!Fair point.
It could be a draw for him, doesn't he idolise Beckham?
What other reason? He's one of the World's best players, he hardly needs United's name to generate interest. Pay rise? Wasn't there reports that he only signed a one year extension, with the same money?
Fact of the matter is Griezmann was eager to join, we were eager to sign him, but he respects Atleti and everything they did for him, so he didn't want to leave them without them being able to bring in a replacement. 100m or whatever is useless to Atleti if they can't spend it. He said as much himself on two different occasions I believe after the saga ended.
He was eager to join us, but then didn't, conveniently just before Barca entered into the whole PSG Neymar debacle. Prior to that I suspect he would look at that front line of MSN and think he might struggle to dislodge one of them. However with Neymar gone you would have to think that he might be more drawn to staying in Spain, playing alongside Messi/Suarez, etc, for a club likely to challenge for all trophies.
My point has been that yes he probably wanted to join us, but at that point Barca would not have been an option. Now it could be.
So true. It's as if for a player of his calibre he should feel in awe of our club. He's a world class player, there are a number of clubs on our level, clubs whose teams are a LOT better than us too. It's amazing how quickly people become RAWK like if someone dares not join the mighty Man Utd.
