Antoine Griezmann

I've not seen a lot of him, but if this is the case would it be worth just getting Hernandez? What else is Griezmann good at? Is it mainly his movement and getting into positions to score?

Yes, his movement around the box and finishing are his biggest assets and he's got great workrate, he's miles above Hernandez though, he's fired France and Atleti to major finals.

Hmm I suppose an attacking midfielder with good workrate, movement and scoring goals might be what we need.

If Martial & Rashford can hold down #9 position, then a second striker of Griezmann calibre is desirable. In a fluid front 3 he can fall deep to break things up, push high to beat the last line of defenders, or swing to either flank very quickly to provide width. He's a fantastic finisher. His ball control is top notch.
I can't believe there's a single United fan that wouldn't want him.

Every time I watch Atletico I'm repeatedly underwhelmed by his all round contribution. His touch isn't particularly outstanding in the way we often see from Mata, he's not overly quick like a Martial or Rashford, and he isn't darting by defenders in that smooth sort of manner we watch from Mkhitaryan. I don't see much passing ability either.

But then he'll get one chance and the ball will rattle the net. Maybe, he's exactly what we need right to complement what we already have.

I'm sure he does have games in which he does all of the above, but I find Atletico games to be really quite tight and scrappy, and he looks forever on the periphery of things until he eventually gets the ball around the box. Maybe it's just me, though.
Atlético is a team that focuses on getting a goal and then shutting the opposition out. He's the main forward in a 4-4-2 but you still see him do a lot of defending, often sprinting back and chasing ball carriers. At Real Sociedad and in his first season with Atlético he was played out wide and did a lot of dribbling.

He's a very fast dribbler. If there's an opening he can dart through it with the ball and end up in a shooting chance. That brings us to one of his best qualities, shooting. This guy can shoot a ball better than anyone in our team and his weaker foot is very strong as well. He doesn't mess around with chances.

I can't think of a better buy than him.

This goes to why I am not so keen on him for that price tag. For a team like Pathetico (I am a RM fan :D), where they don't dominate offensively like RM or Barca, his clinical finishing is very valuable cos if the one chance that Pathetico get falls to him, he will score it and your team will spend the rest of the game trying to break them down a simeone defence (which is a very difficult task).

When you play for a team like United, where the opponents are more likely to park the bus, while you still need someone to score the goals, I think it is more important to have that guy that can lift the parked bus and unlock the defence. This is what I think we have been missing this season. We really dont have that guy who plays around the box and his primary role is playing the final pass that creates a clear goal scoring opportunity. If one was to use the current spurs team as an example, Griezmann is more like Dele while I think we need an Eriksen.

All our current attacking players are always first looking to score themselves and while none of them is as clinical as Griezmann, they are ok for now as we have more pressing needs. Pogba is the only player that tries to create for others, but then that is not his strong point or best role. His passing range and vision makes him better suited to initiating the attack from a deep i.e. the pass before the pass that leads to the goal.

If Griezmann was a true CF, it would have been great, but he cant play the role, which means we still need to get a CF and Griezmann would play behind him as a trequartista. But with a top class CF getting clear opportunities, we really dont need a high goal scoring AM.

If Griezmann does come, then I would expect Mata to leave (home grown quota) and without adding that creative player, we might have to still rely on long balls to the CF, knock down and Griezmann picking up the pieces. It can be an effective way to score but I think we can do much better.

Pff, the old myth about players like him not suited but a flat track bully in a the right squad is great because English. Pah

Myth....what about just an opinion? That said, your opinion of Kane is absolute nonsense.

I agree, he's a piece in the jigsaw but doesn't solve the puzzle. The lad up the road in blue is an example of what we need, generally pretty deadly in front of goal but equally can have moments of individual brilliance to turn a game. The other is the goofy racist at Barca....

We need two attackers. One as a bonus to this season and another now to replace Ibra. Griezmann and Morata wouldn't be bad additions.
If we get two attackers, then someone probably has to leave. Griezmann will just take Ibra's role, with the other player taking Rooney's matches. But that likely won't be enough (unless that other attacker is someone like Hernandez, ie a backup) especially with Martial likely getting more matches next season, and Mhiky being less injured.

One of Mata/Lingard likely will need to leave in that case, and it won't be Lingard who just got a new contract, and likely is perfectly okay with a bench position.

However, I think that an attack consisting of Martial, Mhiky, Rashford, Griezmann, Mata and Lingard is fine, if we decide to go with three in midfield next season.

If Griezmann is so upset about being asked, why does his agent speak so openly?

Griezmann has spoken about this issue more than enough times tbf, even I'm getting sick of hearing about it, can't imagine how annoying it must be for him. Besides, it's his agent's job to talk about it, his job is to focus on his football.

A guy named Vincent Rodríguez (@VRodriguezlaw) has posted on tweeter saying agreement reached between two clubs. Is this guy any reliable? Or just another ITK?

No. Has been a twitter troll for ages now.

Rashford with Griezmann and Martial inverting from either side of him would be a lethal counter-attacking trio, and could destroy any side in Europe. A diamond with two of the aforementioned 3 paired with Mata/Mkhitaryan as a floating 10 could also be destructive.

Get the CL and he's ours. Don't get it and he's still probably ours.

Think he was ours (if we wanted him) the second his mate Pogba signed.... No secret that they want to play at a club level together...

If Griezmann is so upset about being asked, why does his agent speak so openly?

I think the problem there was he had just played a game and scored the winner and is being asked about his future... There are times and places for questions about his future, a post-match interview isn't one of them..

Hopefully we don't make yet another player shite.. :nervous::lol:

I think we need a creator and a finisher. We've scored 50 goals in the league this season, the lowest out of top 7 by a clear margin and last season we've scored 49 goals (needs no explanation). We're about to let go our top scorer by a long shot so there's room for two attacking players, especially since Rooney will also likely leave.

As I have been saying for months, I am very confident this is going to happen.

It makes too much sense for all involved.

United' number 7 shirt will make Griezmann a global superstar.

Save some money for a CB and CM you muppets

Is this the face that says "I save money"?

Griezmann and Bernardo Silva. That's what I'm hoping anyway.

I don't particularly think he is going to make us unstoppable on his own however I'm sure we'll sign a few well needed extras as well.

He may cost us 80m upwards. At the end of the day if it doesn't mean us going into liquidation I don't care.
