Spanish football expert Guillem Balague told Sky Sports: "The situation is as follows, his people have told Atletico that he's staying next season.

"He still feels he can give more to the club, they've got a new stadium and he can keep growing there.

"Atletico want to give him a new contract with more money and a new buy-out clause of 100m euros.

"Barcelona, Real, Manchester City and Manchester United have all enquired for Griezmann, but he's agreed nothing with anybody.

"Real are trying to go for him in 2018, which will make it difficult for any Premier League club to try and get him."

Those are expected words.

In reality, I suspect the Champions League outcome will determine Griezmann's future. If Atletico win it, I think he will find it easier moving because there will be a sense of 'mission accomplished' and the club / fans there will feel they owe him. If they lose again in the final, that will be a bit of an unpredictable situation. Will that make Simeone to leave (probably to Inter) or stay? The answer to that may determine Griezmann's future.

Just read he stormed out of an interview when a reporter badgered him about his future.
Hope he is interested in coming here.

Just no for me as I really don't think his game is suited to the PL. I think test spurs resolve with 80m for Kane. He's young, British and he's proven in the PL. The lad is ever bit a Utd player.....

Why? He is quick, strong, technically sound and one of the most hard working forwards in the world. If players like Sanchez, Hazard or Hazard can thrive, there is no reason he wouldn't.
Also, he has a reasonable release clause which means no prolonged negotiations with the selling club.

What the feck? Kane over arguably the best player in the world outside of Barca and Madrid? How would Griezmann's style not suit the PL? He has some of the best movement in the sport, that's exactly what we've been lacking this season.

Kane's scoring goals in a free-scoring Tottenham side, Griezmann is scoring goals in one of the most defensive teams in Europe.

Not arguing about his ability but I'd feel the same if we signed Messi. These superstars of football play in teams full of stars of equal proportions, we are not even close to that yet. Griezmann plays in a team that looks like it's gonna potentially reach another CL final and a team that's only bettered in its respected league by the best 2 teams in the world.

People forget even when we dominated the PL and was reaching the CL semis and finals, the backbone of the teams was the best of British. Trust me if SAF was still here, Kane would be his priority over anyone as these ultra big record foreign signings rarely work in this country cause the level of expectation for the money is always ridiculously high, and if they don't deliver immediately, they get absolutely hammered by fans and the media.

That's understandable, but in terms of ability, I don't think it's even close between the two, Kane still has a long way to go to be comparable to one of the best players in the world of the past few years. He's a great talent and British, but that's exactly why he'd be so much harder to sign. British tax plus Levy tax and we're looking at quite a mission.

Its a bit of a conundrum; If Griezmann hadn't had such a great season - Atletico would probably be out of CL, 4th/5th in La Liga and without Simeone next year, and Griezmann would probably leave for that reason.

I think we're in for a transfer-summer of disappointments in getting the really big players.

Agree. Getting players out of spurs requires the player to force the clubs hand. 'One of their own' is never gonna do that but you get my point. Griezmann is no doubt a superb footballer but the current supporting cast at Utd isn't even close to be able to see the best of him here imo. Different argument but won't want another one of those summers where we get consumed in this transfer yet forget 60% of this teams not good enough...

Yeah Kane is not gettable but for you to say that current supporting cast is not good enough is debatable at best. We have Mkhi, Martial, Mata and Rashford to play with him before considering that Pogba's vision and passing is crying out for a top class finisher like him. If we brought him in and a DM to lessen Pogba's workload in a two I have no doubt it would work a treat, the only issue is if we try nonsense like changing his position when he is still settling in.

The players mentioned are great but they are all in the starting 11 especially if you include maybe Ibra and then Griezmann. Im not talking about good players, we need Wc quality in defence, maybe another couple in midfield along with Griezmann....

He really does think the sun shines out of Spains ass. Now Madrid can pre book signings years down the line...from their fierce neighbours no less

I don't blame him at all. Same questions every 3-4 days. Same answers all the time. It gets boring and frustrating.

We get pissed off about the Rooney questions every week, while at least that's a changing situation.

Don't think he's moving, as much as I want him here. Seems a perfect fit for what we need.

Every time I watch Atletico I'm repeatedly underwhelmed by his all round contribution. His touch isn't particularly outstanding in the way we often see from Mata, he's not overly quick like a Martial or Rashford, and he isn't darting by defenders in that smooth sort of manner we watch from Mkhitaryan. I don't see much passing ability either.

But then he'll get one chance and the ball will rattle the net. Maybe, he's exactly what we need right to complement what we already have.

I'm sure he does have games in which he does all of the above, but I find Atletico games to be really quite tight and scrappy, and he looks forever on the periphery of things until he eventually gets the ball around the box. Maybe it's just me, though.

Agree. He seems like a lad who just wants to focus on what "is" & not on what "if's" & "maybes". A good trait.

Sometimes players need to play in a different type of system to realise their potential. If you put Griezmann in the Real team, he'd be a lot more prolific, imo.

I agree that we need players in those positions particulary a DM and a CB. I thought you were alluding to our attack which I think is pretty good but this season it has been hampered by having key players off form, players like Mkhi settling into a new league and Mourinho taking time to find his best team behind that attack. I wouldn't be shocked if players like Martial and Mkhi put in insane attacking figures next season.

His movement and finishing with Pogba's range of passing would be a thing of beauty. Think back to the numerous times Pogba would play a wonderful pass only for Ibra or someone else to scuff it, with Griezmann it would be in the back of the net.

When was the last time Atl Madrid sell their best player to Real ? Not saying that they will stop Griezmann moving to rival club at all cost but surely it's a possibility.

Is it going to be the end of Mata here if we do end up signing him ?
If we don't sign an another attacking player in addition to Griezmann, then I don't see why that would be the case. Griezmann would just get Ibra's place, Mata, Mhiky, Rashford, Martial and Lingard to fight for the 2-3 attacking positions next to him.

We need two attackers. One as a bonus to this season and another now to replace Ibra. Griezmann and Morata wouldn't be bad additions.

Antoine was destined be our no 7. He knows it and so does Jose.

Two magnets will always magnate.

He has a lot of games like that, he's primarily a finisher.

I've not seen a lot of him, but if this is the case would it be worth just getting Hernandez? What else is Griezmann good at? Is it mainly his movement and getting into positions to score?

Pff, the old myth about players like him not suited but a flat track bully in a the right squad is great because English. Pah
