So what, you don't think he got a fictional phone call on one of his nine mobile phones as he was waiting to be interviewed? Don't embarrass yourself. We all know this is how big money transfers work. First you decide you want the player. Then you start discussing it with his club. Then, long before you've reached agreement, you call international journalist of repute and chairman of Biggleswade United, Guillem Balague, to make sure he's got up-to-the-minute information before you proceed with the deal.

Would love to have him here (who wouldn't want to have him) but I just can't see it. At the moment Champions League football does not look likely and a player like him, in his prime, wouldn't want to waste his best years playing in the Europa League.

The tace is still open and we are in europa league, Why is everyone so pessimistic.

That goal he scored vs Madrid was absolutely smashing.

We should sign him, without him Atlético wouldn't have a chance against us.

His celebration is perfect for annoying opposing players and fans.

Will make us even more hated if we sign him. Need to reclaim that title back.

Based on what though ?
On what hes saying. As I said before hes said loads of times hes staying at Atletico, wants to play in the new stadium, likes playing where its warm etc. Its just a feeling of course and maybe your right, but we went down this road with Ronaldino, Alcantara, Ramos, Robben Sanchez at Bayern, Lewandowski etc, all players we were supposedly going to sign, the caf got excited about... then never happened. So as I said I just cant see it happening.

Since when are footballers under contract reliable sources of what they are going to do ? They are under contract for their current club and know better than to lead the press on about what their future plans are.

Then Mourinho and Pogba happened. Replacing Rooney as the new face of attack may be too hot to handle.

He won't move to Madrid unless Madrid are the only club in for him and he pushes for the move. Won't happen.

No CL, No Griezzou. Plus Zlatan leaves and Pogba starts to see writing on the walls. CL is imperative.

Fantastic player, continues to impress. I can see a few clubs wanting him if he is available in the summer.

Looks harder and harder to get this guy but if at all possible sign him up.

I feel like the only two possibilities is that we've either already signed him, or he won't join us this summer. He's killing off any talk from the media etc, so I get the impression those are the most likely scenarios

To be fair @Womp you have covered most bases here lol. I think it might rain but then again possibly not....

Great player but we aren't looking for the jewel in the crown. We are still trying to sort out the crown. We are realistically 5 players short from competing for the league and wouldn't want it to be another one of those windows that we chase the big signing, blow the budget then compromise with other signings as a consequence

Has he any physical presence? I'm only saying as he looks quite slight in comparison to similar short players, like aguero.

He's just too good to use his lack of presence to his advantage as shadow forward to fun off defense without being noticed, so not a problem/ requirement for him. If you meant receiving higher cross then again, he's quite capable for his size. Too good positioning to make the most of his lack of height

Very nicely put. We have so many players for the attacking third. At the moment, we are desperately in need of a proper midfielder / DM / Carrick replacement along with a proper right winger and obviously a striker.

Thoughts on signing him and playing him left wing forward?

I appreciate that mourinho would probably play him at 10 but if we got poor results with that he might look at switch to 4-3-3 at that point.

AG has had good success throughout career scoring goals as a very advanced left sided attacked

Can he play behind Ibra though? Questions about him being physical enough to lead the line in the prem?

Nonetheless, his goal scoring record and marketability is terrific. Seems a match made in heaven for us. We certainly could use with another player that can consistently score 20 goals a season.

Many clubs can be interested in signing him,but few can afford him.

I guess only Psg Utd and City can afford him, other then that there is not a single club that can afford his price tag.

At this point, I don't give a shit where he'd play. I just want players that know what they're doing in the final third.

I've not seen a post from you since your infamous posts on the Pogba thread last summer .
But on topic, you can add Chelsea to that list and arguably Madrid, if they pay out his release clause and Griezmann agrees.

Bayern could also pay the clause and his wages, but won't.

I think Real could afford him too. There's the option of selling James, Isco or Kovacic to get at least some of the fee in. And the mention of them buying Hazard, who'd also cost a lot.

What an attack they would have with Griezmann

even if they could, they would have to move some of their big hitters off the wage bill. i think he would have to earn a lot less than what united would pay him any way. Ronaldo and Bale are on half a mil a week.

Shouldn't be a problem for them. Ronaldo, Bale and Kroos are the only big earners in their squad. The rest is on rather low wages.

Benzema and ramos are on big wages, too. Cristiano and Bale take up about €85M a year between the two of them

Big challenge for him tonight against the champions of England.

We will be able to find out next week if he can it on a cold windy night....

Poor Guillem, you can see his struggles when the biggest transfer in Spain over the last few years is Gomes to Barca

Serves him right for being a smug wankbag.

Honestly love the fact that Twitter now has a 'Block Retweets' option means I never have to suffer him on my timeline anymore when Sky Sports retweet a tweet from their La Liga page where he voices his pointless opinion. Ffs he probably has as much inside info as any of us :lol:
