We just know that Griezmann is the perfect player for United for 3 reasons.

So please Mou, splash the cash on him 100M€ + Mata and we'll be fine

1) He's an absolute top player and amongst the 10 best players in the world

2) In terms of marketing, having him, Zlatan and Pogba in the same team would be similar with the MSN

3) We all know that he likes United (his brother is a fan) and that would be an ideal fit between him and the fan

Getting the Champions League will be key. If we do I think he'll come.

If we trigger the release clause, I reckon At.Madrid will almost push him out the door.

Anyhow, I personally believe Sanchez represents better value for money. He's entering his final year and probably can be got for £30m-£35m. He's only 2.5 years older but will cost less than half what Griezmann will, he's proven in the EPL, we'll be weakening a direct rival and he won't be bitching about the weather hopefully

If he's seriously having a whinge about weather then he can feck right off, don't need any more pussies in this team after what happened with Di Maria.

His release clause is 100M€, so us giving them Mata for free would be absurd. Add to that, Atletico have a transfer ban, so they can't sign anyone either way.

Even if Mourinho shared this analysis, Arsenal would probably rather kill Sanchez than sell him to United. They'll have no end of takers outisde the Premier League.

Not really. If he wants title winning and CL competing ambitions as well as a £200k salary, then he doesn't.

- Spain is a no-go, as Barca and Real don't have space for him. The rest can't afford him
- Germany is a no-go, as only Bayern could meet his needs and they won't be interested (very well stocked in all forward positions)
- Italy only has Juventus as candidates that can meet the above criteria
- France only has PSG that can meet the above criteria. The rest can't afford him

Really that narrows it down to PSG and Juventus in Europe, if they are interested. So, IF we get CL football and Mourinho convinces him about the ambition of the club he could request a move here. Arsenal's hand will be forced, like with RVP.

100m is outrageous for him if you ask me. I'd happily pay 50-60 but anymore is a bit mad.

His release clause is €100m which is £80m. Atleti won't let him go for less, they are transfer banned.

.

Bayern have very realistic chance of signing him. Also Juventus tried to sign him when he was at Udinese and also when he moved from Barca to Arsenal. Bayern, Juve, PSG have very good chance of signing him. My bet is on Bayern.

"But right now I don't see myself at Barcelona or Real, or anywhere else.

"I have no intention of leaving Atletico Madrid, for Paris Saint-Germain, China, the USA, Russia, or elsewhere."

Bayern, Juventus, Atletico (Griezmann replacement), Inter and PSG have all been linked at one time or another, and all seem plausible (assuming Arsenal actually decide to sell this summer).

Or alternatively:

Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann has revealed that he is open to joining Real Madrid or Barcelona at some point in the future.
Griezmann is one of the most sought after players in world football and has been linked with a switch to Manchester United, but indicated that he would rather remain in Spain because of the warm weather.
As reported by Football Espana, Griezmann said: “Barca or Madrid? Why not? It’d be a dream to play for the biggest clubs and those two are on that footing, just like Bayern and the English teams.

“It’s been a dream of mine since I was a child, but right now I don’t see myself at Barca or Madrid.

“Neither do I see myself outside [Spain]… I’m in Spain, where there’s a lot of sun. This helps, I need it to be happy in my personal life and to be able to play well.

He's staying at Atleti it seems. If he was coming he'd say rubbish like you never know what the future holds, or I'm focusing on Atleti rather than being so straightforward.

At his point in the season, why would he saying anything different?

His tune will change this summer off big club comes in for him.

He now said ; why not to Barcelona/Real, he admires those clubs and Bayern too. http://m.independent.ie/sport/socce...ealing-comments-over-his-future-35550109.html, maybe a bit out of our league.

Wrong.

See the full quote. He mentions English clubs:

On whether he would ever play for Real Madrid or Barcelona, Griezmann said: 'Why not? It's a dream to play for the biggest clubs and those two are up with Bayern [Munich] and English clubs that I have dreamed about since I was small.

'But I don't see myself at Barcelona or Real. Or anywhere else. I am happy in Spain. It's sunny – that helps. I need that to be in my private live and on the pitch. The two are linked.'

He added: 'I don't want to leave Atletico to go to Paris (Saint-Germain), China, the United States, Russia or elsewhere.'

Only Bayern would be competition for us for his signature.

If we get a CL spot, I would expect him to choose us over them.

"But right now I don't see myself at Barcelona or Real, or anywhere else.

"I have no intention of leaving Atletico Madrid, for Paris Saint-Germain, China, the USA, Russia, or elsewhere."

See above for the full quote.

The scepticism of some in here baffles me.

I guess some are not quite grasping the explosion in earnings he would experience if he moved to United.

It would be mammoth.

That is before we mention any other factors like becoming a global household name, playing for th empty recognisable sports team in the world, in the PL, and fighting for trophies which is clearly the direction we are headed in.

From watching a few performances of his during these last few weeks i'm kind of fearing that he could be a continueous source for the sort of discussions that's surrounded players like Zlatan and sometimes Mata in recent times, e.i "does he bring enough to the team when he's not scoring goals".

Often found myself thinking that he's been invisible in games I've watched, only for him to pop up with a goal of varying brilliance.

I know we need goals, and in that sense he's a no brainer. But 80 million pounds (minimum) is a lot of money even for us, and there's really not a single department apart from goalkeeper where I feel like we're set so that money could really be used elsewhere.

I think that we really should try our hand with Sanchez, as per @MadMike suggestion, and/or other options with Griezmann as the back-up plan. I don't actually think that there's alot of other clubs who's prepared to pay that clause anytime soon so we should have a pretty clear path if we do choose to pursue him.

I'd like him here but these are not good reasons.
1) there are many top players around. What matters is how well they fit in the team
2) Zlatan Pogba and Griezman come nowhere near MSN or even RBB
3) Being a fan doesn't mean much in professional decisions.

*Fixed. They call it Bale-Benzema-Cristiano
A.k.a the big black rooster

I would love him here. Not sure about the sunny weather comment though, if it is important to him then you would think that our crap weather would ruin our chance of getting him. Can we buy him a sun bed?

Is this thread going to be serious competition to the Pogba one?

Shouldn't be. He has a release clause and if we are interested then I would assume we will get the deal done as early as possible in the window (if not before).

With Pogba there was the whole will he/wont he, then the Euros, then his holiday in Miami and every tweet from him and Raiola getting 20 pages of discussion.

So, Lacazette to Atletico and Griezmann to United?

3) Being a fan doesn't mean much in professional decisions.

1) there is not a single one in Griezmann's bracket that's available on the market (=not playing for Real or Barca)
2) Can't be compared, because different positions. In terms of marketing they can absolutely be compared, if not even us having the most potential with those 3.
3) It makes a difference, if other conditions are equal

He seems to lack ambition for a player of his calibre and reputation. If he's happy at Alt Madrid because of some sunny weather, let him be

So, Lacazette to Atletico and Griezmann to United?
Could Lacazette be joining because Grizou has decided to stay? Or vice-versa, Griezmann is deciding to stay because Atletico are bringing him in to try and keep Griezmann on side and prove they mean business?

That would be weird, Gameiro is a good player and won't be pushed aside easily. So if it's true I suppose that someone is leaving and Griezmannn seems to be the obvious one.

Yeah I don't think it likely either, just considering the absolute reverse.
