I've only read a sentence on this but it screams of him keeping atletico on side just in case we don't make the CL

Nah.. he's so tired of answering the same question again and again and want to shut medial up (until the end of season).

All this weather whining from players annoy me to no end.

- You are paid a fortune, not like you will be working in the coal mines either. You'll be outside for a few hours each day, that is it.
- You will retire at 32\33, not 62-67 like most people

Plenty of time to bask in the sun and live wherever you want after retirement.

Primadonna, 2/10, do not sign.

Definitely and we don't even know what he is going to decide, he just said several times that moving from Atletico wasn't a straightforward decision which is perfectly understandable.
Yeah. I don't get it, every time something positive emerges people act as if it's a done deal, then he says he doesn't have a reason to move from Atletico and there's a huge conversation why he decided that, are we good enough, about EL, whatever.
Anything can happen until the summer and these recent quotes don't mean a thing.

The reason why he said he doesn't have reason to leave is because he doesn't want to get distracted by the media or transfer rumour specualation. I like how he acts professional and focusing with his current team at the moment.

However, I think there is a big chance he will leave. He hasn't win a single trophy with Atletico Madrid and a player like him should move on to a club that can give him trophy. He should know that Real and Barcelona are likely will dominate the league, it will be tough to repeat the 2013/2014 all over again. Moving to Manchester United will be the right choice,

1) guarantee to play every game compared to Barcelona and Real
2) his idol Beckham is United's legend
3) Both Mourinho and Manchester United have very high ambition means we want to win trophy so badly, that's why we are spending a lot of money to get back into the glory days
4) Pogba and Griezmann are bromance!!

Can we just buy half of their team and give them Rooney, Young, Fellaini, Darmian in return?

Griezmann
Martial - Mkhitaryan - ???
Pogba - ???
Could this kind of attack work? I want Griezmann but after seeing how much difference Mkhitaryan makes to the team at #10 I'd desperately want to keep him there. Griezmann plays as a second striker, but with Mkhitaryan making attacking runs forward and our wide attackers cutting in, wouldn't Griezmann have plenty of other attackers to play off of?

Martial, Rashford, Mkhitaryan and Griezmann rotating in a front 3 to give both youngsters platime?

Martial/Rashford
Griezmann - Mkhitaryan
Pogba - DLP - Herrera/Perriera
LB - CB - Bailly - Valencia
De Gea
Anyone think this would work if you basically told Griezmann and Mkhitaryan to just play your normal game and track back. You'd give Griezmann the freedom to roam into the areas he would occupy as a second striker, but also interchange with the other two attackers. All three are fast so you could press high with them and hurry the opposition CB's into a mistake.

You might need an attacking LB though like Alex Sandro. Griezmann and Mkhitaryan would both probably drift centrally often since that's where they tend to operate so the LB and Valencia would both provide width.

The answer to all your questions is: 4-4-2 diamond

Quite possibly, but last time I used that on FIFA I got my ass beat so I'm praying we'll use something else!

Also I forgot about that first post in your quotes!

Meh. Championship Manager 01/02, 4-4-2 diamond, trebles galore.

It's gonna make a come back, I can feel it :wenger:

4) Pogba and Griezmann hasnt worked at International level when played together though

Both are individually brilliant. Pogba was playing deeper for France so that can't be a stick to beat them with.
In not beating them with a stick. Of course I would like Griezmann, but I dont think it will happen, and was just making a comment when they have played together.

I guess you're right, a lot will depend on what Jose has planned for the attack, his love of the target man being a key factor in whatever we do. The thing is right now it's clear we don't have the team make-up to score the goals we need and if Jose doesn't accept Pogba can't really thrive in a 2 we'll continue to see him come under big critcism.

The problem is that if we play the 4-3-3 we need to get more goals into that front 3, and while it might not be optimal for Griezmann I think he'd score signifigantly more than Silva would in that formation.

The thing is that Silva has goals in him, the same way Griezmann and Carrasco had them before joining Atletico. Also do you see Griezmann wide or as a striker in a potential 433?

I have zero doubts that he would not come.

He'd come running.

I just want to see some concrete evidence that Mourinho wants him.

If he does, the buy out clause is there to be activated and you know Woody would happily.

Do you see Silva potentially doubling his current output? I kinda see him more like Iniesta or Silva, but in a front 3 he should have more opportunity to up his tally than in Moanaco's 4-4-2 where he does maintain the width a lot. I see Griezmann operating from the right of the front 3 in the same way Mata does, where he's central most of the time with Tony taking up the flank on his own when we are in posession.

Yeah, I see him score a lot more. During his first season he was used higher because of a lack of firepower and he scored a dozen of goals. He has a good shoot on him too.

What do you make of his comments regarding the weather etc?

Not serious. Non-factors.

He will coming running. You cannot turn down a promotion as high as Athletico to United.

He would probably almost treble his earnings for starters when you factor in endorsements as well.

If anyone honestly thinks that the weather is going to be a deciding factor for him, they need to get their head checked.

It's probably the only downside he could come up with in comparing his current position and moving to United.

How's the situation in Atletic Madrid regarding their "sanctions"? Can they buy players this summer? If not, will they sell Griezmann?

He would come for the money maybe because of Pogba, and maybe getting to wear Beckhams shirt and number. I dont think he would come if Simeone stays, the new ground will be an attraction, and we will need to be in the Champions League. Its 50/50 I think, and if I had to go one way or the other I think he will stay at least another season. If we are then transformed by the end of next season to a team who can win the league and Champions league, and the club go for him then, then I think he would come.

They probably wouldn't sell him willingly. They're helpless to stop a club activating his release clause though, which is likely what it will take.

No chance.

If it's between staying and joining United, I give it a 99% chance he joins us.

What part of doubling/trebling your earnings is difficult to understand?

You do not say no to that.

And that's before you consider other attractions too, as they are insignificant in comparison.

Mourinho is building something serious. He will make us champions again soon enough.

To play for the most recognisable sporting team on the planet.

Well, would Griezmann stay for one more season "out of respect", since they won't be able to get a replacement?

Would this work if Atletico Madrid can't buy a player?: Mourinho buys Griezmann, but they get a player in the deal - i.e. Mata, since he's previously said that he would be interested in playing in Spain again (at least that's what I remember he said). Or maybe loan Rashford to them for one season to play as #9 - would do him good if they'd be interested, not likely but still.

Don't know the rules when clubs are "punished"...
