1) As stated, the kid is still 23 years old;thus, I don't think its fair to start using guys like Mark Hughes and Diddier Drogba as a barometer of Lukaku's hold up play. We always recognize Zlatan as aplayer who holds the ball up well and has good ball control, yet compared to the Lukaku there is only a .1 difference as to who loseses the ball due to bad control. Lukaku isn't the same player he was two years ago and has continued to make improvements in all the aspects of his game. Imagine what he could be like in his prime.
He's almost 24, been playing top division football since he was 16. 8 years of experience, he's no kid.

Considering his source he would be less likely to know about fringe players since Adidas hardly puts together a whole campaign based on a random signing like Darmian.

If we sign Griezman you just know the "Grie7man" campaign will be huge with Adidas milking it for every penny.

It depends as Griezmann is a Puma sponsored athlete which might impact slightly in terms of what kind of marketing he can be involved in.

Pogba was with Adidas when we signed him and so could clearly be used extensively in marketing media.

I am sure United will put together a lot with Griezmann but I wouldn't expect Adidas to do something like they did with Paul.

It would be silly of them not to take advantage of his brand and appeal but at the same time they would be helping Puma out...

Companies like Adidas and Nike don't like to have sponsored players of other sports manufacturers involved as heavily in their own campaigns as it inadvertently advertises the rival company. They do however love to have it the other way round!

Okay and that means what? He has hit his peak? He is no longer developing? If anything that speaks to how talented the player is. He still has ways to go before reaching his full potential.

Pogba was far from an obvious transfer when Acquire Me started guaranteeing it.
From memory it was fairly obvious, unless he was calling it a lot earlier than what I saw. Many people kept jumping on and off the Pogba train because of the media constantly changing it's story (as they will to keep the hits coming), but anybody who stayed cool and calm could see it was almost certainly going to happen.

You're jumping to too many conclusions. I said he's not a kid is all. Given his 8 years of experience it's not entirely implausible to compare him to other strikers that were in their peak, given that most strikers reach peak after about 7/8 years of top flight football. That's not to say he's reached his peak.

Usually don't like these YouTube comps as justification of a players quality and I was on the fence but some of the goals this lad scores

He's fantastic. Get him bought.

And I agree with you fully but right now his hold up play is anything but great. Like I said I'd be happy with us signing him but just calling it as I see it.

What you think of him would be incorrect then. He's not the best dribbler but he's more than capable. He is one of the best in the world at movement off the ball and his link up play is highly underrated.

The fact that people are turning their noses up at one of the world's best players - who is literally the only creative force in a defensive team who are one of the best in the world is baffling. There's a reason Atleti were looking poor earlier on in the season when Griezmann wasn't playing well. He's gotten back into form and they look a rejuvenated side. This guy has gotten Atleti to CL finals with crucial goals against the World's best teams. He scores goals and a feckload at that, that's what we need.

There isn't a better player in the world at working in pockets of space imo. He doesn't have the physicality of Ronaldo, the talent of a Messi or Neymar, but his use of space is second to none.

If he comes here and performs to the standards he is at Atleti, he'd be a phenomenal signing.

He is like a fast Teddy Sheringham :)

It's still implausible IMO. because 2 of those years came at Anderlecht because age wise, you still have to mature both mentally and physically as the years progress. The fact that he is doing things now that nobody would ever have thought him doing years ago shows he is still improving and will continue to improve.

It would be so nice to get someone who can score from outside the box.

We have been deprived of that for what seems like ages. Not talking about once in a blue moon but 5-10 a season

It gets you a win against teams holding out for a draw

He's far better than Mata. I'd go as far as saying Antoine is the best player in the world not at Madrid or Barca. His use of space, working of the channels and movement is some of the best in the game, if not the best. He gets one chance, he scores. Composed as feck, is good on the ball and can bring others into play. Not to add, having played under Simeone he will help out in defence etc. which Jose will take a liking too.

Doesn't really do fancy tricks or dribble 15 players but he doesn't really need to. He is almost always in the right spot to put the ball in the net.
Thank you for the insight! Could we get away with him and Mata in the same 11?

His celebrations are so fecking annoying. We need to sign him just for that reason - can you imagine him doing that as an opposition player to us? I'd smash the TV in.

I hate it too, and have the same feelings as you do about winding up the opposition.

Drogba was really good at holding up the ball, I wouldnt say the same about Lukaku
You're crazy. Lukaku has great hold up play and are people forgetting he's still only 23? You're probably comparing prime 25-30 Drogba to Lukaku. There's much more to come from him. He can potentially break Shearer's record if he stays in the Prem and keeps flirting with the Golden Boot every season.

United fans who don't want us to sign him are fecking mad in my opinion. IF he goes back to Chelsea and I'd say theres a strong possibility of that happening, we're gonna regret it big time.

Pretty sure that's meant to be Pogba lol

Not from a deep role. He is playing too deep as a deep lying playmaker. They rarely get opportunities to shoot.

The times he's played in the centre he has hit the post and crossbar like 9999 times.

He has been unlucky with his shooting from outside the box. He even hit the crossbar from a free-kick once. Once one goal goes in, his confidence will improve and he will score more from outside the box.

hope so. Not sure what role he will take when Jose gets the players he wants next season and shuffles the pack. That will dictate how often he will be in a position to shoot

We can kiss Griezmann goodbye. He's not coming to this mediocre team when he can play Champions League every season at Atletico. All the players that we buy only come here for the money and nothing more.

Our entire attack needs an overhaul.

Griezmann would help, but we need lots of changes to the structure of the team.
