my dream signing for over 2 years now. I would self combust if we got him, even at full price
Same, I would prefer muller but that is so unlikely there is no point even dreaming about it

We've only spent 8mil this summer anyway....:nervous:

i almost want it to stay that way sometimes. Nice stat to flash at my opposition fan friends when they get too lippy about our spending

We started this rumor on the Caf, the media picked up on it, there will be more articles soon and we're going to end up all excited. We've really perfected the art of transfer masturbation.

Oh, how I'd love for us to sign him though.

That would be perfect response to RvP's departure. More mobile than Dutchman but similar header & volley abilities in relatively young age. Best years still ahead of him.

Memphis & Griezmann would tear shit apart. You can even throw that Mane chap in there and this attacking formation would just ooze with dynamism plus Herrera or Mata behind exploiting gaps in defenses producing assists.

This may work especially when Griezmann is good enough on the ball to play as even attacking winger at times.

I don't know much about him but reading these comments alone is making me want him, off to Youtube now to inspect further.

Edit, I remember now him playing against us for Real Sociedad.

is he pacey?
Yes.

Pacey, clinical wide forward with plenty of skill. My only concern is that he's a bit of a lightweight, even if that hasn't stopped the other small, talented players from La Liga that have come to the Prem (Aguero, Mata, Silva, Cazorla, etc). I just can't see a player like him leading the line for a van Gaal team, so if we buy him he'll most likely play on the wing, and thus he won't be a proper solution to our most pressing issue, which is Rooney's lack of form and our lack of depth in his position.

He is not very creative is he? The traits of him are more how good he is at being in the right position and being very lethal. Work hard defensively and has the desire to score goals. Is that the right way to describe him? :)

Couldn't said it better.

In terms of his weight, I think we would use him mainly on Champions League opponents who would definitely be scared to perform tackles near their box. He could easily rotate with Rooney or play in main striker role while Rooney supporting him. It could work.

He's lethal while having many other skills in the bag Van Gaal could adjust him to his philosophy but we all know that he would be used mainly as a sting who can do many things with the ball just like Aguero.

im guna cry if we get all this excited for him, only to not get him, or Muller (obvious) and even struggle to just buy Mane then lose De Gea...............

There is nothing wrong with being effective, i'm just saying he is not a player who takes on opponents constantly or assist alot. He likes to find space between defenders and when he is one on one mostly bags the goal.

We didn't even stressed the budget this year plus after departure of Falcao, RvP, Nani & Di Maria we have loads of space financial and in terms of squad to accommodate at least two new attacking players. Club needs to start using it's worldwide influence in signing top talents again just like it was in Darmian's and Memphis case. Highly possible that we could go for a good run on a market again but it would definitely require some decisive actions rather than fecking around.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him mostly as the #10 (should we sign him), seeing as Van Gaal seems to love the idea of having a goalscorer who makes runs from behind in that position.

According to the Independent, this is why we won't sign Griezmann.

United missed out on Pedro because they were unwilling to up their initial offer of £17.6m plus £3.5m in add-ons due to their belief that he did not represent value for money. With that in mind, why would they then go out and spend nearly three times that amount on a player who has five fewer La Liga titles to his name along with zero Champions League crowns to Pedro’s three

Absolutely and that could be the key here. Griezmann and Memphis both can do that while Rooney still prefer playing safe and back to oppo's goal but having so many players with penetrative skills would definitely make him compete inside the squad again and get back to his real form.

This transfer would be a win on many levels but we need to take action. Something needs to happen from our side.

What type of agreement though? A gentleman agreement or is it written in his contract?

Gentlemen agreement I think, they raised his salary.

I'm pretty sure with the new contract it is bumped up to €80m

I thought that myself but apparently they didn't bumped the clause.

Edit: No what I read is that they agreed to let him go for the old clause.

This post is terribly depressing and without doubt what will happen.

I don't think he would lead the line, he doesn't do it at Atletico either, he played behind Mandzukic and will now play behind Jackson most likely. He would be perfect for the second striker role van Gaal wants to have in our team. But he can also play on the wing too, before his season at Atletico he scored 16 as a left winger for Sociedad in the league, I have no doubt he can play on the right too. Would be just perfect for us imo and with him, Memphis, Mata even Rooney can't be that shit anymore or replace him with Chicha, there will be enough goals even without a Rooney in form.

Probably. Last season, he scored as many league goals as Nerman, had 1 assist and was the most clinical Atletico striker in a decade(over Agüero, Falcao, Forlan and Costa). Has a nasty header too.

This isn't a saga at all. We're not even linked, it's just everyone saying it would be a good idea.
