Wasn't aware that he's a fan. We should get him to be fair, he won't leave us for Barca or Madrid when they start knocking on our door, has got great technique, left footed and all that.

Don't watch much of non-PL football. What kind of a forward is he? Has he got pace? Would he fit well with the way we play (or try to play)?

He isn't particularly pacy, he has great movement off the ball, he has a good technique but not great, he is an exceptional finisher and he could struggle in a static attack.

Maybe we are getting him on a cheap :p

They didn't have a clue about Herrera last season and it wasn't a cheap transfer, hell there was only Balague one day before the transfers who seriously linked us with Di Maria who went for more money than is Griezmann buyout clause.

With most players we've bought over the past few years, we've been heavily linked (bar Falcao). There's always been rumours, however, there's sh*t all about Griezmann other than the cryptic tweets from his brother.

The Telegraph have quite literally picked a name out of hat and decided to link us with him.

It'd be amazing if this happened, but I just can't see it.

So I'm a bit late to this particular party, but is this actually something that has been reported might happen, or is it just a lot of wishful thinking?

Wishful thinking, most likely. Bayern and Chelsea have been more linked than us.

Whole load of wishful thinking, all that happened was his brother said that he himself a United fan. We know Griezmann probably has a fondness for United, but there's no solid rumours saying we're definitely interested.

Although I completely agree and I'd put myself in the group who think there's nothing in this, it would make complete sense if we were to buy him. The whole "surprise forward" and trying to keep everything quiet to ensure our rivals couldn't nick this player from us. I'm almost inclined to think that we let Pedro go on purpose to allow us to sign another player.

Yeah there's always that chance that we could actually be interested, we have the money and he seems to fit the profile of what we need. I personally don't think it's going to happen though.

Don't spoil the party. A 'normal' rumour will do :)

This transfer makes so much sense. He'd win us the title, that's for sure.

He would be such an exciting signing but I can't see Atletico selling him, we would have to pay £56mill to release his buy out clause which is too much even for us.

Whether £56 million is right price for him is certainly debatable. However our net spend so far in this window is less than £10 million (and our wage bill has probably gone down with exit of Falcao, RVP and Di maria). There is certainly scope to spend more for the right player.

Is he the new muppet-dream? Does anyone actually think he's attainable this window? Wouldn't mind him myself actually.

12 pages in the last day and not a single rumor linking us to him (feck knows why), just his brother being a WUM on twitter. Hopefully something comes out of nowhere, but I can't see it. We just need one half decent link with him to get us going though. As of now, all I see is either muller, bale or mane.

He has buy-out clause so i think he is attainable. I would guess that anything between 40-50m pounds would do the job since Atletico bought a lot of attackers this season and only lost Turan and Mandzukic. He signed new contract which raised his buyout clause from 43m pounds to 57m pounds but Atletico is not Bilbao, they will surely negotate.

90 million pounds for him and laporte and we are set for the season. I think these two transfers will take us close to city and chelsea and a level above arsenal. They make too much sense for it to happen. Even if we get only Griezmann...

-----------De gea------------

---------schmidfield------------
-Griezman--mata--------Depay
------------Rooney---------------

That team is delicious, pace on wings, creativity in centre and sadly rooney uptop That team is as close to a title winning team that we can have now.
Bench - Adnan, herrera,fellaini,carrick,jones, Gk,hernandez
Can use fellaini as a striker, can use him in middle, same with herrera can use him as 10 or an 8, jones as rb or cb, rojo as lb or cb, adnan as 10 or winger. So many players can play different positions effectively. This is good, we still have blind, pereira, wilson, valencia, young all out of the squad.

We won't get him, guaranteed. Think we're done. Unless De Gea leaves, then we'll obviously buy a goalkeeper.

What are you doing in transfer forums if you think we are done? We will sign at least one attacking player and chances are it will be Griezmann.

We definitely need to get one attacker in at the very least. Would be very surprising if we didn't make one or two more signings especially as we haven't really spend much this window.

I think he is better in the second striker role or even as a striker or left winger. Don't remember him playing on RW but maybe LVG would put him there since he love inverted winger and Griezmann is a left footer.

Yes that is my thinking about him and how LVG will use him. He is quick and his passing is underrated, he can beat a player and can go outside and inside (mostly inside) . The front 4 are very much interchangeable. Gives us alot of flexibility and unpredictability.

There were no rumors about Schneiderlin, but the transfer made a lot of sense for us. We went into muppet mode based on that alone and in the end we got him. Now the same will happen with Griezmann. He is as good as ours.

There were rumours about Morgan. Not a lot but there were.

Hehe, this takes me back. Reminds me of Fergie's final two or three summers when people like you kept saying "we will definitely sign at least one central midfielder, no worries".

And the tax on top if they dont want to sell him.

This rumour seems to be based on nothing substantial other than he used to be a United fan.

Nah LVg would say if he would be ok with the team and no signings will be made. We will buy someone, you can quote me on this.

I think it is worth remembering that Chelsea were reported to be very strongly on his case earlier in the window. That the move didn't go ahead and they had moved further down their list of targets in Pedro may suggest they were told to feck off and no chance he will leave. And that was even at the beginning of the window.

Same here. It would be silly if we don't activate his release clause.
It's a lot of money, and I am one of those fans who does think about the price of players and their equivalent value, however with this transfer, I really don't give a shit how much we pay.

Just get it done.

Agree, it doesn't matter for him or Muller. The bank should be broken for them both as we have only spent around 8m (net).

We're yet to tap into the Adidas money and both players happen to
be sponsored athletes at the said company. It would make so much sense.

Adidas would make sooo much money back off the presentation of the player(s) and shirt sales alone would fund the deal.

THose were the worst summers, closely followed by Moyes. Wesley fecking Sneijder, I still get annoyed every time I see his name or face.
