Thus the cooling off. We can't spunk all that money upfront on June 1st and limit our room for manoeuvre with other targets. You're right, but I doubt we'd have been able to pay it all upfront, not with all the other players we need this summer as well. Unlike City, we do have to manage cash flow.
No I think they definitely have other alernatives as that is normal to have.
To think two intelligent individuals like Ed and Jose was completely outsmarted by Griezmann and his entourage is silly.

Had Atlético been able to sign players AG could have been more vocal about moving without that being paramount to acting like a right prick. I'd expect Atlético to be more accommodating then, but not in this scenario.
And Griezmann is a finisher...? He's like a poacher a lot of the time, something United lack... Everytime a cross comes close to the goal there's no one there to finish, griezmann will be.By benefits around the pitch, you mean chances created and other offensive attributes, right? You already have that sorted out. You need finishers.
Don't know if anyone else is the same but that actually makes me feel a heck of a lot better?http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ds-Man-Utd-hopes-accepting-Atletico-deal.html
So, he signed a new deal?
Stop the bank?I think we should brake the bank for Mbappe now. Its a punt but I have a feeling about that lad.
Think he just wanted a new contract to be honest, Atleti were banned when we agreed a deal with him and they are banned now, nothing changed.I'm absolutely gutted.
He was interested but decided to stay.
Really hard to accept this is off.
I really cannot see us buying any other tier 1 talents this summer. There just aren't really any that look realistic at this point.

It's actually a bit scary that Atletico has turned down that amount of money. I thought they weren't the richest around?
It's More the fact they can't replace him. No point having the money if you can't win matchesIt's actually a bit scary that Atletico has turned down that amount of money. I thought they weren't the richest around?

We don't know if the release clause has been raised right? He may have said 'look I'm leaving, but give me a reason to stay one more year'. New contract higher wages for a season and he leaves next. They don't lose the basis of their forward line while unable to recruit. We sign a big name this season then sign him the next season and win the CL. Easy. Totally plausible.
Very snakey move if he planned all of these.
Teasing with United for years just to get a pay raise.
I hope they put a ridiculous release fee on him this time so we can actually call it off for good.
What's the formula for that?It might interest some but by law the buy out clause has to be affordable for the player.
Perhaps I have been jaded by the last few years but signing tier1 players isn't the simple answer to all our problems.I'm absolutely gutted.

Barca put 180 mil on Ter Stegen's contract. It might interest some but by law the buy out clause has to be affordable for the player.

I don't know exactly but there is a precedent with a player of Real Sociedad who had a 30m clause but a judge decided that it was abusive and reduced it to 5m. If I'm not mistaken it has to be in the range of the player's wage during the length of the contract. So while you can see crazy clauses, they are often not solid in front of a judge.
He can feck off, if he doesnt want to be at United, we shouldn't want him here either, dont want another Di Maria situation
And so we renew our date in one more year Antoine.
Isn't it something in line with buying out the remainder of your contract (i.e. the sum of your remaining wages) or does that only kick in in your last year? It would render release clauses pointless tbh. In fact, that would only lead to even higher wages as a means to avoid players being snatched, more player power, no reward for clubs developing players... feck that, they already make enough money, don't they? It's not sustainable and most clubs would end up bankrupt while a few concentrate all the very best players.
No, it's about buying your contract for a fee that is set when the contract is negotiated, players can also buy the rest of their contract when they are in its last year according to FIFA rules. To be clear, it's not a football rule, basically the clauses are supposed to ensure that every workers are free to work for whoever they want without constraint like every other worker but because sportsmen are valuable assets for their employers, if they decide to break their contract without causes imputable to the employer they have to pay a fee, that fee is the buyout clause in Sport.
So technically by July Alexis Sánchez would cost what? 100K x 52? 5M quid and change?
Not gonna lie I'm gutted we've missed out, and after seeing the other dross we're linked with I really don't have much hope for the next season.
If I'm not mistaken, it's about right. But I once heard that no club will sign a player that used that rule.
