I'd like to see Ozil here but Griezmann is suddenly being a bit underrated. Only a month or two ago the shoe was on the other foot and many were against signing Ozil.

The way i see it is that we need to add goals into our attack. Ozil does all the other stuff well but Griezmann is a goalscorer. We should look at both.

Imagine having Martial, Ozil and Griezmann roaming around behind Lukaku, in a similar fashion that our attackers have been doing recently. That would be incredibly difficult to defend against.

Yes, it is always a good thing to add goals to ones attack but I think our single biggest need today is to build a midfield that can hold the ball well, control a game, add potency to our attack and be at par with the very best in the world. Jose also needs to focus on ball retention trainings and adopt it as a strategy. I don't mean ball possession in the same way as Barcelona or City but when we actually have the ball, especially in big games, we should retain it for a while and dictate tempo. We need the right types of players and the right coaching for this to happen.

I don't see him picking us over Barcelona.

We need to improve our scouting staff. Our purchases have been poor bar Pogba.

You look at the people City are buying (Sane, Jesus etc), Chelsea are potentially getting (Stealing Sandro from us, Lemar), Liverpool (Salah etc). Then you look at us (Lindelof? Lukaku, who I still believe in for now). It's not good enough considering our spending is on par with City almost.

I really hope we get Dybala even though Madrid are interested in him. Hopefully Pogba can persuade him ;). Although seems like a pipe dream.

I don't understand it really, don't see him as the right fit but increasingly there does seem to be sufficient traction on this story linking him to Barcelona. He doesn't play as a winger any longer so unless he's meant to displace Leo or Suarez, it's a bizarre target from a board that is clearly clueless

Dembele - Messi - Griezmann

Arthur - Busquets - Roberto

Alba - Umtiti - Pique - Semedo

Grizzy can play a similar role to Villa-2011 here as an inside forward.

So Jose has signed Pogba Baillie Matic Zlatan Mykytarin and Lindelof. Out these only Mykytarin and Lindelof has arguably been the ones you could put a negative too. You have only marked City Chelsea and Liverpool’s successful signings.

Think Griezman is far more likely to work than, say, Dybala. The french already hinted plenty of times that he would like to play here and it's not like he's a slouch either. Not a creator but not just a striker, think would suit even better the game style.

Everyone here saying they don't care less need a reality check. If he came here he would be our second best outfielder bar Pogba without a doubt.

Unless we are signing someone as good like Dybala I don't see why everyone is so happy we missed out on a player who was clearly one of jose's main targets. Are you all that hurt that he stayed with Atletico to try to help them true a period where they couldn't replace him. It is admirable. If we were banned and De Gea decided to leave he would be called a traitor. Sometimes you got to look at things from other perspectives.

So basically whatI'mm saying is the chances of us signing a better player than Griezmann are so slim that maybe we shouldn't be glad about it especially when we are in need of world-class players to bridge the gap.

We completely overhauled our scouting system. These things arent instantaneous

He has an affinity towards United and friends in the team plus he could have the #7 shirt he coveted as a kid. Yet the pull of staying in Spain and the warmer climate seems to be stronger. So you can see why people have lost admiration for him.

My point though is we should be annoyed if we don't get him not happy or indifferent. We need class attackers to compete. Who else would we get? Bale? Injured more than not. Dybala? Unlikely but if it happened would cost around 150 mil in today's market.

NOt a lot of options imo.

I think the reaction is more a reflection of how some jaded fans are not in the mood for another drawn out will he sign continuing drama. What was that coquettish bullshit he acted out last summer when all was going to be revealed? Just pick a fecking club and sign on the dotted line or go play with your hair and skin products!

Barca wont sign him and Coutinho. Arthur has also been priced at 35 million or so. Neither do barcelona have money to make all three transfers nor to pay all wages after messi's new contract. It will be either of the two and barca's first choice is clearly coutinho. I think we can get him if we really want to. The question is do we want him enough right now considering we need a midfielder and full back more? Is he that good that you have to get him no matter what?

I think that we are here that are delaying things. If we really want him we would pay that clause, salary and deal done.

If Delaney says he's going to Barcelona, he's actually coming here:drool:

He snubbed us once, when we were the only ones interested.
Now that Barca are interested, there is no way, he'll accept us. Whatever the reason, we just aren't good enough for him and we need to accept this.

Only a few months ago, I was being berated by fans on here, when I said that he won't join us, while they believed that he will join us in January (and probably still do).
We need to focus on attainable targets who want to join and play for MUFC. Not players who have made it clear that they value other clubs, over us.

Yeah he did that already. He chose Atletico.

It's stupidly early for an I told you so. Barca will sign Coutinho and Griezmann will join us imo, they're not signing both.
If I were Jose and we had an option of Griezmann on his own or Ozil on a free plus a winger I would choose the latter.
Antoine would make us more rigid while we cry out for someone to stretch the play and create space.

I'm not really that bothered about missing out on his signing to be honest, it's very evident that a player like Griezmann is not what we're missing at all, he's clinical and plays well as a second striker but we lack creativity between midfield and attack that I'm not sure he's capable of supplying. We have more pressing concerns in our team at the moment.

I do wonder how credible the Barcelona stuff is. More reputable sources are saying Coutinho is a matter of time for them and unless they plan on off-loading Suarez I'm really struggling to see where all these attacking players fit. Even then you have three players in Messi, Griezmann and Coutinho who all want to play in the same areas. They're certainly good enough to make it work but I find it an odd strategy of targets.

We'd be crazy not to be in for him regardless.

Signing him just won't really solve any of our problems. We need a right winger and attacking mid, we need creativity. Having another goalscorer would certainly improve us (obviously) but it'd be more of a luxury signing rather than one that fixes holes in our starting eleven. If we get him we essentially still need all of the players in positions that we already are short on.

Griezmann is nailed on for Barca, but we have our plan B lined up am certain,BALE!!

Bale isn’t worth the cost with his injury problems. If we don’t sign Griezmann, we’ll go for Ozil for the 10 position imo.

Based on what Mourinho has said today, I'd be very surprised if we didn't try to get him in January.

I don't think he's a good fit with our existing players, so am absolutely fine with him going to Barcelona, Real, or PSG. Goodluck to him.
