I think there's a fairy large chance he'd flop here. I just don't think he's what we need at all.
@aquiremeThis Griezmann thread made me think.
Does our 'ITK' still post here. Can't remember his name
He looks like a player who will add some status to our team but not sure what else.. He has been very poor this season.. I would love to have for my muppet sake but I think 100m could be spent better..

While I think it would be a consideration, I don't think its a deal breaker. Priority is the league and if Mourinho believes that Griezmann could help reel in City then I could see him making the move.He is cup tied and won't be signed until summer. Close thread.
For that amount of money in his release clause. I would rather spend it elsewhere.

The Griezman train passed when we signed Lukaku. We may have dodged a bullet, Griez has been quite underwhelming this season. Besides, he is very expensive and almost hitting 30 in age.

He's turning 27 next year..
What is this obsession with age by fans???
I think I'm off the Griezmann train and boarding the Ozil train, he suits us better. And Ozil is NOT cup tied in January.
FM has made people believe it's possible to build an entire team of 21 year olds and dominate for a decade. What is this obsession with age by fans???
Utd don't buy young players to try to sell them on for a profit. When we buy a top player the aim is for them to play as long as possible at the club.

I read somewhere Griezman was 28 last year. Good to learn he is actually 26 this year. If he is still valued at £90m, it's a good deal.Griezmann is 26 and even younger than Eden Hazard. What I like about Griezmann is that he hasn't won anything and must be super-hungry for it... unlike Özil who's 30 next year, has won the league, a few cups and the World Cup. Not that it matters that much of course, but the age/ambition thingy is definitely in Griezmann's favor relative to Özil who might be a bit full (which his reputation is also accounting for these days, at times).
Ibra must be like 70 for you ah?The Griezman train passed when we signed Lukaku. We may have dodged a bullet, Griez has been quite underwhelming this season. Besides, he is very expensive and almost hitting 30 in age.
I see no reason at all why we won't go in for both Griezmann and Ozil in the Summer, so I don't think it's a case of '1 or the other'. Chances are Mkhi and Mata will be moved on so there is every chance we may get both. Where they will play, Not my decision but it's a fecking great dilemma to have.
Not really. SAF clearly knew something about Rooney back then. Kagawa is always a gamble from transfer point of view. Then we have Chicharito who is narrow dimensional in preferring playing on shoulder with opposition defense line, and Wele...26 = almost 30 now?
This is similar to the Van Persie transfer in many ways. We don’t necessarily need a player in his position but he is world class and would take the team to the next level, so we should really be all over this.
Next year could possibly see Mata and Mkhi sold and Ozil and Griezmann brought in which undoubtedly is an upgrade! add Dybala (hopefully) and Goretzka then we are pretty much no longer a work in progress but the finished article!!
There are many posters in here who are attacking him for daring to show loyalty to his club for staying with them an extra season, but you've gone too far the other way. He obviously is not 'completely and utterly devoted' to Atletico, by the fact that he was definitely planning on leaving them if not for the transfer ban. He certainly has a good level of loyalty to them by the fact that he did decide to stay with them during their time of trouble, but even then he made sure that his new contract kept the same buyout clause so that he will get his move after this season (possibly even in January). All the Griezmann talk is fine and dandy. Does AG actually want to join us?
He snubbed us once already and has shown he is completely and utterly devoted to his current club. Even the lure of earning a much bigger wage, could not get him out of his current club.
I've said this many times, but the AG train has passed. In every transfer window, I think that AG will now be mentioned (to join MUFC), but it won't happen. He'll join the long list of players, such as Ronaldo, Neymar, Gaitan, Sjneider, etc.
We do not want to take on players who are joining only for the cash and given what happened in the Summer, AG clearly feels more for Atletico Madrid than MUFC.
