Mourinho alluded to as much last Summer, when he made a comment along the lines of "we want players that want to be here, and not getting a sun tan"....
I thought at the time, that was 100% directed at Greizmann as he doesn't want to leave Spain.
I think he has lived in Spain since he was about 14..?
 
Strikes me as Muller like, a top player but not someone who, in isolation, will make a huge difference.

By no means world class.
 
No brainer where he will end up, on one hand he could join us to play CB, alternatively he could join a team who play attractive attacking and free flowing football.

Not sure he'd be a particularly good foil for Lukaku anyway - the transfer made more sense when we were targeting Morata. I think now we need a more creative player at #10.
 
Think Mourinho will take Ozil on a free over him TBH.

And who can blame him? Furthermore, few can argue against moving to Barcelona except for bringing up money. Let’s be honest, he’s going to make quite the amount there as well - and he will play attacking football. He is probably tired of the defensive-focused attacking game at Atletico, which is very similar to what United are doing these days. You can and will score big in many games, but the focus is about defensive stability and chasing, instead of playing around the other team.
 
To me Barcelona makes sense for everyone involved but Le10sport is a terrible source and should always be ignored.

Oh really ? Let's ignore the fact he currently plays for a team that parks the bus on every possible occasion as well.

I couldn't blame him at all for wanting to stay & play in Spain.
Lets be honest, whether he is playing for Atletico or United, he is going to be paid a small fortune, so what difference does more money make when you are already a multi-millionaire? (To those guys with their head screwed on anyway..!!)
To live in a city such as Madrid, that climate, that life style, all your friends around you, playing in La Liga, and getting paid huge sums....why would you want to give that up..?

Of course, there is another angle to this, and that is that Greizmann really doesn't want to leave Atletico at all.
He will soon have Carrasco & Costa as teamates, and apparently Atletico are very interested in Ozil too.

That is a pretty tasty quartet by anyone's standards..!!
 
I don't think he's been using us, there could be something in that but recently options have opened up all over the place with Neymar going. Barca had a fixed front three but now they're looking. PSG have elevated themselves to possible CL winners and could add someone to form a front three. Real Madrid look like they need to freshen things up. Before it was stay at Atletico or take a gamble on United. Bayern are unlikely to get the cheque book out or fancy him.

Given he's spent much of his teens and adult life in Spain I'd think we're third behind Barca and PSG if they have serious interest. You're likely to win a major title with those clubs in a 3 year stay, at United not so much now.

Have little interest in him personally. I’ve never seen where he fits in with our group. If I was confident we’d get a more creative player who could also beat a man, I’d be more than happy to see him go to Barcelona or wherever.

I don't think he's going to come in and instantly make us better, we need a different kind of player with pace and power on the right wing, someone like Di Maria and Moura if you like. We will basically be getting an upgraded version of Mata in my opinion, always cutting in and looking for options inside

90m for Pogba is a fair value, not Antoine for me though. But yeah, i think we have overpaid for Lukaku

I agree. I think there is a conflict between what people think he will bring and what he would actually bring. He is a bit like Delle Ali, in that he gets on the end of things, be it a pass or cross or rebound. But he does not beat people.

If this is true then we will never win a big trophy again. You cant just buy the players that sell the most shirts and expect them to gel. You need your water carriers as cantona once stated.

Have you watched much Atletico games? Because I can tell you now, they know how to play football when they have the ball, lump it up to the big man is not a tactic they employ.

I have watched enough of Atletico Madrid games against other big teams to know they are a parking bus team.
 
Our chances of signing Griezmann were over when he decided to stay with Atleti in the summer.

I said when he turned us down that he wouldn't be coming and most likely Barca would be his destination. Many were sure he was nailed on and we had a agreement in place. So much can happen in a few months in football and this ship sailed last summer.

Coutinho might be PSG bound in that case, unless Neymar keeps reportedly having issues there too. Poor Coutinho, having to think of a new dream club he always wanted to play for as a kid. Maybe City?

Might be more expensive, but Coutinho will fit Barca so much better than Griezmann. I don't even know why Griezmann is being linked to barca - they don't need him.
