Manchester United will have to pay £92million to prise Antoine Griezmann away from Atletico Madrid, according to reports in Spain.
Atleti doubled his release clause to €200million to ensure the France international stayed while the club faced a summer transfer embargo, Marca and Mundo Deportivo both report.
Now they say the price has returned meaning his available for €100m - around £92m with the current exchange rate.
Griezmann had looked set to join United until Atletico Madrid's transfer ban changed his mind as he didn't want to leave them in the lurch.

However, despite signing an improved deal, he is understood to be keen to move on once they can start buying again in January.
Atleti look likely to bring in Chelsea misfit Diego Costa in January, which could pave the way for Griezmann's exit.
Griezmann hinted on the eve of the Europa League final there was a 60 per cent chance of him joining Manchester United, who had earmarked him as their attacking priority.

Obviously Griez's best position should be AMC behind Lukaku, I don't think he has better passing ability then Mkhi or Mata tbh. He is the guy always finding space and goal chances in the box more than a creator. He won't fix our attacking problem atm.

I don't think Griezmann will solve all our problems atm. There is a few positions that are weak in. I would be looking at LB and a top box to box scoring midfielder first. This would certainly help our attacking needs now, and provide more service to our forwards.

I think he'll end up at Barcelona, they have the funds to get the deal done straight away in January and I think the player would prefer to stay in Spain. It's just whether Barcelona can afford his wage demands, that'll be the major sticking point so we'll see on that.

No idea, unfortunately. Probably not good. Shame really as I think he was convinced his brother was coming to us. Circumstances got in the way and some of our fans are idiots when they get on Twitter and the like.
We need him, but our system when it comes to attacking is shite. If He comes in January I hope we do something like this in games against easier teams.

As much as i would love him playing for United, I don't think he is the type of player that should be the priority (if we have money for only one transfer). We either need a better winger or a better creative number 10. While Griez is great and I would love to see him in a United shirt, we need more a pacey decisive dribbler, someone who can take players on and doesn't lose the marbles every time a opposition player is within 1 meter of him.
Griezmann is a good dribbler but he isn't a player that wants to take players on every game, he rather benefits from his good off-ball movement.

IF (and it's a big if), we do get him, we will need to pay far more than £92.

If we offer £92M and Barca tell AM that they'll pay £100M, MUFC will have no option but to increase our bid.
I suspect the cost will be around £150M.
My own feeling is that he won't be joining us. He made his decision last Summer.

I do believe his release clause is back to £92M for the winter (and summer again?) so no club is going to bid more than that. And there are not many clubs that can do it, especially in the winter.
