Thats a point, how do you actually pronounce his name?
I'd have assumed "Anthony" would just be as normal obviously, while "Martial", would just be like the word, as in "Martial Arts".

I keep reading that Ligue Un is a "low scoring league" as a defence of Martial's stats, but is it not more a case that Monaco are just a low scoring team?
Monaco only scored 51 league goals, where as PSG scored 83, Lyon 72, and Marseille 76.
Similarly, Chelsea scored 73, City 83, Arsenal 71 and United 62.
Basically, we're the Monaco of the Premier League.

I don't even know why people have the need to defend it. Its not a bad goalscoring record. He wasn't starting until the second half of the season and plays a decent amount on the wing. He was 18 for a decent amount of last season. What 18 year old scores even more then 10 goals in a season? Pretty sure he had more goals then ant other teenager last season, so its only going to get better.I keep reading that Ligue Un is a "low scoring league" as a defence of Martial's stats, but is it not more a case that Monaco are just a low scoring team?

No it's apparenty between Mar-see-al and Mar-tee-al.I'd have assumed "Anthony" would just be as normal obviously, while "Martial", would just be like the word, as in "Martial Arts".
Plays on the wing a decent amount, wasnt a starter until the second half of the season but then scored something like 8 goals in the last 13 or 15 games I think. Just a natural progression with him getting older and maturing. When I saw his fairly low scoring stats, my guess was that maybe he's a slightly deeper forward, or rated as a better overall player than as a scorer? If not, maybe we're just going with his potential and assuming he'll start scoring more as he develops his potential.

This, why are people acting like he got 4 goals in the whole season. For his age his return was pretty damn good and then when you factor in he didn't play the full season (could also be a downside) and played various positions, his return was impressive.I don't even know why people have the need to defend it. They still haven't cracked Dirk Kuyt..Well I, for one, look forward to commentators regularly messing it up and saying it wrong.

Sorry, my sarcastic metre hasn't been switched on today. Just a bit disappointed, not entirely surprised. That is the whole point of the sarcastic post, we essentially haven't solved our striking problems this season.

If you be our top scorer,One of the commentators pronounced it Marshy-Al. Maybe he likes soft ground?
Not putting pressure at him at allWe just signed the next best thing for £36 million - which is a bargain as he will be worth a £100million in a few years time....so i really don't know why people are crying about our striking problem right now, when Martial will come good in the future.
Good enough for me.
Not putting pressure at him at all
And that claim is based on?
Even ROnaldo, who was an obvious talent needed 3 seasons of inconsistency to kick it off, Martial won't fix our attacking problems in a fortnight.

Just seen he is married
nah... he's a family manRyan Giggs likes this.
I get it.No....I'm not valuing him or comparing him to Zidane. Sky said that the deal could beat the Zidane deal in price so what I was saying is that we are paying at least £46m for him if that's true. And £46m seems a bit absurd for someone so unproven and unheard of right now
How are you not getting this?
Zidane is only in the conversation as it gives a price figure it's nothing to with ability or anything.
Guess that'd make him the second best player in the world, after Pastore.
so Lyon confirming the transfer
