Yup. Aguero for instance is 1.73 m tall. You don't need to be big to hold the ball up. You need technique, a good first touch and some strength. There's lots of smaller players who can do it.

SkySports news say £36m - that sounds about right.
A bench warmer that starts 24 games. Sounds legit. And started only 24 of them. Which is less than the amount of games Monaco played last season.
So the fee is £36m? I don't have time and only watch twitter feed where i saw €60+20m and almost colapsed...Why do people insist on sensationalising some of the fee's, his release clause is £36m and United have paid it.
I've seen him a little bit and quite liked what I saw, but just been talking about him to my friends that follow L1 much more and they've got excellent things to say about him. My Lyon supporting mate (Lyon sold him to Monaco a little while ago) was annoyed to see him go at the time as he had progressed through the ranks but couldn't break into the first team, so when Monaco came in with a 10M offer, they had to say yes. He's developped quite well at Monaco apparently, taking Berba's spot in the last season, and is a mix of power, pace and technique, understands the game and has an excellent attitude (saw a couple of posts on here suggesting otherwise, curious as to where that comes from). Basically, they're adamant we've signed an excellent rough diamond who still has a lot of work to do before becoming the real deal, and the fee is a bit silly but when you see Thauvin leaving for 20M or whatever, they feel the fee for Martial is correct (just kidding of course, it's huge for an unproven talent)
Rather happy with the transfer myself, hope he makes it here!
He was a starter in the second half of the season... The kid was 18 last season, so you'd expect him not to be starting at the beginning. And started only 24 of them. Which is less than the amount of games Monaco played last season.
We'll be able to look back on Augusts instead of Mays with happiness.Oh well at least our transfer dealings are more exciting than our actual football.
If you start less than 50% of the matches, then what you are.A bench warmer that starts 24 games. Sounds legit.
So it is only £36m which isn't so bad, though still a lot. Considering he could be worth 80m 4 years from now if he fulfills his potential and becomes anywhere close to what henry was or having he impact Rooney had, so its not so bad. And really, fans shouldn't care about the price at all when you have the financial power united has. Better then sitting around, doing nothing and letting the players go to other clubs. Shows if we want a player, we won't let a set price stop us.
Thanks guys but I'm no clearer

50m pounds should still only be 68m euros. It's 50m euros. Which becomes 50m pounds. Which becomes 80m euros. Happens in every single transfer we make from Europe. People are feckwits.
Judging by the reaction on this forum, I'd say he's very unknown.
Just because you've heard of him doesn't mean that should be the standard case! Loads of players play in the CL every season, you can't expect everyone to remember them all... also, (genuine question) where has he been talked about as one of Europe's best? Would be interested to see that... is it just French journo's or from all across Europe?
So fecking cop he is?Click on the speaker to listen

I think it is more cause Ranieri (former manager of Monaco) mentioned his mentality or something like that. It probably doesn't mean much, Ranieri is weird. It seems to me that everytime we're linked to a young black forward someone on here mentions 'attitude problems'. I've seen it lately with Lukaku, Berahino, Benteke and Mane
Hopefully he's what Welbeck should have been. A much better Welbeck.Interesting that over the last month this lad hasn't been mentioned in the usual list people pumped out when they said the quality wasn't available and we should wait.
Don't know much about him but he sounds like Welbeck

"It is a great young with a great future, but it must change its mindset. Sometimes the French mentality is ok ... Today I play well, maybe tomorrow ... No, you must be very hard every day. I talk a lot with it may just be a good one. player L1 or become a champion, because it can become the holder anywhere. It is very good but in football that is not enough, you have to be very good every day in training, every time you'll play every night when you sleep."
What proven player is there? Anyone who watches french football says Martial has got way more potential then lacazette and is ridiculously talented, but just not as developed yet. Apart from lacazette, we'd be buying some average player to play up top for us. So why settle for mediocrity and some mid table player when we can sign someone who has it in them to become the best striker around? You either get talents like martial young, or watch barca/Madrid/city/Chelsea buy him later for even more and he tears up the league like aguero is after he develops a bit. Even now he gives us great pace and ability to go past players. He's not a top player yet, but if you watched him against Valencia in both Gamez, its clear he's a good player already who can make an impact just as Rooney did 10 years ago.
Quick, able to play up front or on the wing, tall-ish, black.Based on what?
it probably doesn't help that he's referring to him as an object tbf.I found this: http://www.goal.com/fr/news/29/ligu...naco-ranieri-martial-doit-changer-de-mentalit
