Anthony Martial to Spurs | Bouhafsi : "Bid rejected"

I don't see why Spurs fans can't understand that they've got to pay for the stadium, so have to save money on the team for a couple of years.

Would fans really throw a tantrum if this reality was spelt out to them?

Ummm we do understand, who's saying we expect new investment at this stage? There will be no new investment apart from the money raised by player sales, basically the way we have operated for the last number of seasons.

So why are the owners throwing out phantom low-ball bids for unattainable targets? Just seems pointless tbh.

What's your point? It's obvious that an era of hyper-inflated prices will push up the selling price of all players, including Kane.

In fact, it will push up prices especially for the likes of Kane ... seeing as strikers tend to sell for more money than players in other positions (goals are gold dust) and Kane is world class.
Not only transfer fees are going up though
What's the going wage for a world class striker these days... £200k a week... £250k...
I wonder how much longer before kane and ali start making noises like Danny rose

Good point.
If Levy views his players as being worth £100m+, then he had better start paying them their actual worth in wages. It won't be long until their agents demand this correlation between player value/wages.

One of their key players openly criticised them and questioned their ambitions as a club recently. They've sold one of their key players to their direct rivals (they don't do that). That's two good reasons imo.

Can't see them at Spurs for more than two seasons, tops.

It's only worthwhile if they get the players they go in for though. If they get blown out, it only makes them look worse.

This was Levy having a pop at us over a percieved Rose slight yes?
if so then it is pathetic because it just makes them look even smaller-time! I mean, if they want to unsettle us then at least offer an amount of money to make us consider the offer, not to mention wages to turn the player's head - all a low ball offer from Spurs does is make them look cheap, childish and churlish (the chumps).

Yeah that team will be broken up within a couple of years. Sad to say, as it's great to see a club succeeding with sensible spending and good management. But inevitable unless the ffp laws are changed.

Don't know about it mate, they can always say 'we tried, he wanted to come but stupeed United didn't let him go', this type of shit. Think most people realise there's nothing to those bids but you still see some people losing their shit over it. So it kind of works I guess.

The only phantom here is that there was an actual bid never mind one of £30M, honestly think it's complete BS but you guys feel free to argue it out .

Martial's market value in this transfer market today is in the region of £80-90 million. For our favourite guy Daniel Levy, we should do a special deal in the region of £150 million.

I don't think he'll be leaving in this window - we don't have the players to cover him leaving.. But if he doesn't start nailing down his place this year, or it seems Mourinho doesn't fancy him, then I think he'll be pushing to leave next summer. And a player who isn't starting will not be demanding 80 million - he'd be off for no more than we paid for him.

I hope he starts today, and really starts pushing on this season. He needs to.

Not starting today, it's slightly worrying. We have some good youth players who are flopping such as Shaw and now Martial is heading that way as well.
Not sure if flopping is the right word. I mean he was great in pre-season, then he didn't even come on versus Real (to the frustration of many, since we were crying out for his dribbling and pace), and now he's not starting again.

Surely he must be thinking "If I wanna go to the World Cup next summer, this Tottenham move doesn't seem too bad - Pochettino is a very trusting manager, and since they've bid for him, one that definitely wants him in his side. Which you can't really say in definite about Mourinho.

What a shocker, not starting today. It's getting ridiculous, especially after the Madrid game. I really wonder just how bad Martial must be in training for that to happen. I still have a hard time believing it's just Mourinho not 'liking' him.

It is definatley not Mourinho not liking him, people need to stop thinking that.

I have been frustrated sometimes with the mentality that Martial shows on the pitch. When things aren't going his way he seems to easily give up, he also doesn't help out the team enough with pressuring, closing gaps and tracking back. He appears lazy and uninterested and he needs to show a bit more grinta, a bit more fighting spirit and he definitatley needs to start showing he gives a damn when on the pitch.

As long as he doesn't do that, Lingard and surely Rashford will keep starting ahead of him.

If Jose is still angling for Perisic and not even giving Martial a fair chance I think he's content to sell him with an option to buy back like he did with Depay. I think its a question of Woodward vs Jose being at odds over Martial.

Well, that's an improvement on the usual prediction of "next season" ... so things are looking up.

Needs to get a hat trick in the next 10 mins, and a couple goal line clearances too.

What does this guy have to do to start? I realize Rashford is the golden local lad but on ability and performance this guy should be starting on the left, with Rashford rotating with him and Lukaku.
I can only assume Jose questions his attitude/commitment and that's why he doesn't play him.

Earned himself an extra 10 mins next week it seems.

Poch salivating. Could be an amazing buy for them. Martial must decide now and see what is best for himself. Some now famous players have all made a difficult choice like this (we have one playing for us) and gone on to do big things.

A goal and an assist in 15 minutes, doing a lot with little time. I think he's out to prove a point this season, he needs that spot in the WC and the only way he starts with Jose is being undeniable. Is it fair? No, but that's just the way it is and it's up to him to respond.

Why do we have so many drama queens on the Caf?

United don't want to sell. Martial doesn't want to leave. It's a squad game and he played as much as Rashford last season including starting in the cup final.

Just enjoy him and be grateful we have such talent.

I don't think your boy Martial will have a choice. We won't be selling unless its a significant fee. Today shows he will play and there is room in the team.

If he does leave, positive news is you can support that team.
