Why all of a sudden we're hearing lack of work ethic? He's never ran around like a headless chicken, but not even strict LVG ever complained about him slacking off in training. /i suspect there is something else going on behind the scenes and it's not so black and white.

Ole wants United to be the hardest working team. He doesn't want to play the way the manager wants him to. That's a problem. Seeing that comparison shit posted, I'm guessing he thinks he's all that +more. Hope we sell him quick.

What happened to Martial FC? Seems like everyone is against him now. Done nothing since signing that contract and couldn't look less arsed about it.
I still believe he's an excellent young player. But if he isn't fully invested then he's not going to make it here. More importantly, it's the job of the manager to build the team so if Ole doesn't want Martial in his team he has to ensure he replaces him with genuine quality rather than work horses. An inform Martial gives us brilliant technical ability. If he's out we need somebody similar but who gives us whatever he lacks

We need to relax guys, lets not forget martial is our current best forward at the club. He isn't doing so well at this moment given his lack of interest and enthusiasm during games but all this talk of selling will just see us sink deeper into mediocrity. As I see it sanchez wont be here this summer and most likely lukaku. That leaves a gaping hole in our attacking numbers.

Id like to see us get more quality attackers this summer and if martial is still being a moody next season its not so bad to have him on the bench. He is very useful even if he does go through patches. A moody martial is still more effective than lingard and rasjford.

This post is like our season.

Unbelievably dumb move from his agency, especially with that previous video of the pre match warm up doing the rounds. Not exactly endearing himself is he :nono:

On another note, probably about ten of those goals came as a centre forward in his early days with LVG. Odd comparison with players that play different roles then and now.

Move him on. He doesn't seem bothered. I know he's not had many games but you'd think he'd make an attempt to grasp his chance when he could. Maybe he thinks he's above grasping chances. No, not for me. Everyone should have the mindset they need to cease the chance, until they leave the club. Wrong attitude for me. He'll be gone by next season start, i'm sure.

This post is like our season.
So what would you suggest? Just sell him and buy a better attacker insantly with all the other glaring problems in our squad? This isn't football manager! he isn't a top priority when there are other shite like ashley young and that backline.

Wow redcafe really have turned against him.

He needs the season to end. Him, like the rest need a great preseason. I have faith in him.

I think he is talented and could be an amazing player for us, but in the end I don’t think he has the mentality to succeed at a top club. I bet he’s going to be the guy who leaves for a huge club and finds them less forgiving of his laissez faire attitude than we are and will find himself on the bench. Another decent club will follow but eventually he’ll be 30 at Valencia wondering where it all went wrong for him.

That post is ridiculously tone deaf. He probably isn't the first player we need to get rid of, and I do believe there is still great potential there, but he doesn't exactly make it easy to sympathize with him.

Good. The fans licked his balls enough for him to get a 250k a week contract. Maybe if people stopped giving him excuses he would actually perform and earn that 250k.

Exactly I don't see why he couldn't be kept back for sake of depth at the least and build proper team with no deadwoods in the meantime. City/Liverpool has players like Sane, Jesus, Origi on the bench and fans wants to ship off martial because he hadn't carried mediocre team above 6th

He hasn't helped himself really. Constantly puts up the moaning face giving zero off the ball efforts along with poor finishing etc. Its natural that the fans turn on him.

Not a good look coming out with this.

I make his face expression reading this.
Our players live in a bubble, there is a huge huge gulf in perception between what most fans want and except from them and how they see themselves.

People will say it is his agency and not him, but his agency works for him...what a state the dressing room is in, when this group think they are equal/better than club legends!

Just show them all the door!
It doesn't compute for me that an agency would post anything regarding a client of theirs without his approval in some form.

I think character and work rate is something we should really look at more when signing a player. Martial really has this summer to reflect upon what he wants. Otherwise, if he doesn't kick on next summer, we should look to sell him.

Damn people going all in on this guy, not surprising after posts from last summer. Guess section of it never forgave him for being used as beating stick for certain manager.

Jose fans seem to have forgotten that their hero’s tough love actually worked with Martial. In the months before Sanchez’s signing he was given plenty of games in rotation with Rashford and performed very well.

The sulking only became an issue after he’d been frozen out for Sanchez, who was stinking the place out but guaranteed his place.

High maintenance? Certainly, and I completely back the manager if he think’s Martial isn’t worth the effort. Terminally bad attitude? I’m not so sure.

There's no question Martial's agent/pr is an idiot. That comparison approach is daft.

However, he's one of the most talented players we have and worth persisting with for one more season at least, especially as it seems we'll have quite a few outgoings of the creative variety. When Ole first started Martial seemed to have been working on his weak areas - people commented about that here. So what happened to change all this? Started after he came back from injury.

Ole should demand a great work rate, but he should also find a way to get what he wants from a personality like Martial. In addition to work rate, we need creativity, and those with good technique. Ole's seeming preference and bias for the work horses, and inability to manipulate other complicated characters to do what he wants, is worrying. Just shouting at Martial isn't going to work. A Fergie disciple should know different approaches work for different personalities.

Comedy post. This has nothing to do with Jose anymore. People are seeing Martial for what he actually is.

So he’s our best forward who’s been dropped by the last 2 managers? What you do on the pitch says far more than your potential.
Lad need to buck his ideas up or go enjoy a career elsewhere. If the club want to be successful, then we need players who share Ole’s vision and desire.

Ole seems to be in favour of the more 'honest' type professionals that he trusts and I think these are the type of players that probably created the less problems for him on and off the pitch. Sadly ability wise, these are absolutely the worse players too.

Ole has some big decisions to make because the players that he might have to get rid, are potentially our best and most high profile players....

His attitude and demeanour on the field is awful.
Contributes zero when we don't have the ball.

You need every player moving all the time in the modern game. He is only slightly more mobile than Lukaku.

I'd not lose sleep should he move on. Too muxh of a luxury

Maybe for rest of them but not for you, everything revolves around JM with you, your threads, your posts, talking about comedy.

What ever Martial is, now is perfect time to vent some proper venom towards certain players, suddenly their clothing brands are reason for our downfall etc.

Period when his fans were feasting must be really tough for you, helping him to get his contract by, how did you put it, licking his balls.

Fully agree. We will end up with Lingard and Rashy next season with McTomminay behind them. Why cant we sign players that have both quality and work rate. Take Bernando Silva at City, really improved this year.

He's good for 10+ goals a season where as Lingard is about 5 goals and ghosts through many games and sometimes can be effective at closing down. Rashford has been slightly more consistent in scoring in all seasons and in some of those he's been on the left as well..

If Ole is looking for a replacement for Lukaku and keep Rashford on the left over Martial then I could see it might be worth cashing in. I don't see either player happy at being rotated for a left spot. If we really are planning to use Rashford up front then I wonder who we can bring in over Martial?

A pressing game from a front three could be a problem for Martial though. I know his attitude has been an issue, he's up and down. If we can't give him a permanent role then it probably would be best he gets one elsewhere, perhaps a club can even give him his favoured striker role.

I just feel the whole team is malfunctioning since Moyes, and we often look to Memphis, Martial, Rashford to beat 2-3 players and provide something.

What's funny?

Neymar, if that quote is real.

What next, Suarez going on a rant about other players diving, maybe Costa should do one about the importance of sportmanship on the pitch.

In terms of everything else: I'm a bit bemused by the average post quality and fickleness in recent months. Members like to take the piss when it comes to other forums, but christ almighty how quickly some went from "Thank god Mourinho is gone" to "Mourinho was right etc", not to mention opinions on players. Generally find it a bit weird that the chain of thought doesn't go longer than current results. People are busy constantly finding reasons to have a go at players, the club etc. Constantly taking turns at "WHERE ARE YOU" depending on how a player is performing is, well, beyond stupid.

Quite a lot points to fatigue issues, which wouldn't be such a surprise (the only surprise would be that fans underestimate it). Ole and the rest of the team will work hard to improve on our current situation as it's clear he wants an aggressive playing style that demands a lot from the players. Some players will cope well, others won't.

Was not tough for me at all. I praise him when he plays well. I dont sit there at games with my fist clenched when Martial is on the ball. I get up out of my seat like the rest of the crowd. However, I was one of the people who received the most criticism for pointing out his flaws. I did not accept all of the excuses being repeatedly made for him.

It just sounds like you are upset that more people are starting to agree with what I was saying, if I am being honest. You just sound bitter.

Agree. The best managers turn these quality players into 'honest' hard working players too. Pep was prepared to sit Augero on the bench for Jesus if he didn't work harder. it's hard to sometimes buy players with both so it's down to managers to get the likes of Martial and Pogs to buy into their thinking. The problem is we have created some monsters in that dressing room and it would take Pep type of manager to deal with them. If Pep was here, he just sign a couple of equally world class players in their positions and say 'now what'......

God I’d love to see a prime Fergie have a go at our bunch pansy prima-donnas.

I went to Giggs dinner do, and what he shared Fergie was brutal in his early days at the club. He'd would have offered Martial and Pogs outside....!!!!

Let me fix that for you.

I wonder how Ole is handling him? Different personalities require different handling. Ole seems obsessed with running around and not technical players. I still would give him another season. Seems like people want rid of the few creative players for the boring as feck ones like Young.

If the stories are true that he screamed at Martial after the Barcelona game whilst fecking Young got away with his nonsense for the first goal, then I would be upset as well. Ole would seem bias to me. Why not scream at all the players who fecked up? Why does he only have strength for Martial? Why not also include those who are making horrendous mistakes?

I don't have a problem him giving Martial hell, but at least be fair about it. Rash gets away with shit selfish behaviour on the pitch but he doesn't go after him as well.

The whole thing is disappointing as feck.

Attitude. That's it. Managers can forgive mistakes or players trying things that don't come off, especially when you're managing a struggling team. But the absolute worst thing to have to deal with is a poor, lazy, entitled attitude. That's why.

I'd say the way he was in that warm up video before Chelsea game is the way he goes around in training and every day life.

Fair play to Ole if he gets rid. This kind of shite is what is holding Utd back. Need players that want to wear the jersey and means everything to them. Sick of seeing the crap attitude from some of theses players.

Thought Mourinho was a prick but you can say he was right about certain things and one of them was Martial attitude.

Crazy. Jose wasn't just a fecking mad man trying to rip all his players to shreds as numpties on here believed.

I think people on here could see that Jose was right about a lot of things. That wasn't the problem. The problem was he was being a toxic cnut about it all the time and he refused to take any of the blame.

Sad state of affair if true. This should be his last chance or he will become the new Anelka. Let's hope Ole has the same criteria for Rashy and and Pogba. None of them have the right state of mindset going forward.
