Damn seriously... i think a lot of people need to calm down.

The lads didnt even play ffs and its all pure fan based twitter speculation about a potential fall out. Nothing has been reported at all so this literally all BS.

Let Ole get a pre-season out of him, get a system going for this team with the correct players and then lets judge him.

We all know Tony Martials talent, he can be electric. This modern day idea of just criticising a player and changing your opinion on them every game is absolutely mad. Real football people understand that patience is one of the most important aspects in seeing results. The boy knows how much we (majority of us anyway) love him and feels that love. I have faith he has what it takes to become a star, but at his age its all about learning. But seriously, alot of you dont have a clue

There are more positive stats about Martial. Pretty sure he has more goals per minute than anyone else for us for a start, and he doesn't even play as a striker (though perhaps he should).

He has been here for over 3 fecking years. We are judging him NOW. He has been given a 250k a week contract, we are judging him NOW.

Another instance where Jose saw things the fans didn’t want to admit?

We were all against the sale of Martial last summer, for a variety of reasons (the fact we knew he had quality in there somewhere and most blamed Mourinho for stifling it, the fact Jose had let go Salah and De Bruyne before and been wrong, and the fact he was going to replace him with Willian or Perisic) but now it seems everyone cheerfully admits he’s a lazy bastard.

Jose was trying to rid the club of players that wouldn’t work for the team, but now Ole is tasked with doing the same it appears he’ll get far more leeway from the fans. It’s interesting to note how differently people are responding to Martial’s potential departure a year on.

Yet the forward he put his faith in (Lukaku) is right there with Martial in the lack of distance and movement department...

Actually starting to feel bad for Jose (and Ole), the football was torrid but feck me he was right about all our players, they're just unmanageable and know the board will back them over any manager. Depressing times.

He won't be leaving anyway because nobody will pay us what wed want judging by his form. He's also on silly money too he'd not get many other places. Martial is staying put..

Some people are still clinging to this notion that he's going to be Salah in a few years. But some people would also buy magic beans from a random bloke on the street.

3 absolutely rollercoaster years. Look at our other talents, Rashford - he certainly hasn't shown anything recently but we all know how good he can become, Dalot - showed esrly promise but the season has caught up with him, this kid was so highly rated in Portugal. Our best player DDG is going through the worst spell of his career. In the three years hes had 3 different philosophies to adapt to. Thats not helpful at all for any player let alone a young player. We saw when Ole came in what hes capable of. Lets get through this season and end it ASAP. We need the season to end quickly to start over.

Oh here we go with the garbage excuses. These players are all spineless cowards because all we do is give them excuses. Fans allowed Martial to coast and blamed everyone else and now look at him.

feck the pre season and feck the tactics. If he wanted to be a better player he would be one already.

Martial scored two vs Chelsea in the past league game should of started instead of Rash boy.

The trust and support the fans have shown him (more than any player at the club prob) and he doesn't give a feck. Beginning to seriously dislike him.

Yea he's a fake. No two ways about it. Got talent but no heart and passion. It's time to finally admit it. Trouble is.....we've probably priced him out of a move with the new deal.

I'm shocked people are defending him.

Doesn't actually matter if he's not 'warming up'. Him standing there like a spare dick not even moving makes me wonder what he's like behind the scenes. Previous stories about him seem to suggest he's incredibly sensitive (the number issue with Zlatan a good example).

Used to be his biggest fan probably and a huge believer in him but he’s regressed so badly and not built on any of his strengths and he’s failed to address his weaknesses.

We are cursed.

I'm kind of surprised he never got a big chance as a No. 9 under Ole, with Rashford on the left. He mentioned once that Martial is a clinical finisher. Maybe we need to stop shoehorning players into positions and buy actual wide players this summer.

The issue with that point is that Jose was wrong about Martial at the time. Even back then, people accused him of downing tools pre-contract, to not have any heart, forgetting the fact that he had two separate come backs where he forced himself on the starting XI with his performances off-the-bench, taking the starting spot from the work-horse that is Rashford on his first come-back under Jose, and then Sanchez who had taken his spot without an ounce of merit while Martial was contributing to the team and settled in.

He also happens to be the one who kept Jose in charge longer than he should have been by going on a goal-scoring streak of games which was one game away from equaling a record.

So, it's easy to try and come back now and say Jose was right all along, because there are some on this forum who are obsessed with Jose and still can't get over the fact that he's failed at this club. I'm not saying you in this case, but we know there were some there and you, I, and others defended Martial because we knew he was better than Sanchez when he lost his spot to him, and once he finally came back in the side, he started scoring important goals again for this team, as he had done in the past.

That being said, he has massively disappointed me since Ole has taken over. Outside of the first game where he, Lingard, and Rashford combined beautifully for a goal, he has simply not shown much of anything. I couldn't care less of the video about subs warming up or not, I think that's really inconsequential, but how he does behave when he is playing, how little risk he takes when he has the ball, it's like a player devoid of either confidence or care. A confident, caring Martial is someone who will always have a place on this team but he is simply gone these last few months.
If there's any truth to Ole getting into it with him in regards to his attitude, then that's great and we will see if it has any effect. But if it doesn't, then he should be let go for the best offer they can get and let him be someone else's headache.

Time for this guy to wake up.

For Lukaku at least you can see the guy runs at the beginning of the games and runs out of gass, its a fitness problem while with Martial on the other hand...is a rotten attitude problem he is lazy as feck

Same. I want to see him as a false 9 and Rashford on the left & Greenwood on the right or Lukaku.

His attitude is poor - however I really wanted to see him as a false 9.

The guy is obviously lazy & but the tactics don’t exactly do him any favours in our team either.

A possession based system with Martial as a spearhead could still work but the whole club is wrong. Van Gaal knew how to use Martial’s very limited skillset but we now have limited coaches preaching “the United way” they don’t have a clue.

The system is what matters not the players per se. Martial running through the lines in City's team would be a luxury Pep would more than make use of.

really is a lazy sod.
So he conned Ole into a new contract.
Play Greenwood or Chong.
I doubt OGS was the decision makers on players contract. Moyes LVG Mourinho all said they didn't negotiate with players and their agents. It's all left to you know who.

With that in mind, it's not easy for the manager to just punish the bad apple. The one who gave out the contract, has different ideas.

As for other posters. False no 9 is a midfielder, play maker in a system without a true forward. This player is the goal scorer yet hide himself in midfield making it's extremely hard for CB to mark. Calling for Martial to be used as false no 9 is dumb by itself just by workrate, before considering play making ability.

Genuine question: Does he have bipolar disorder? He goes through phases of mania and massive lows.
I always wondered why mental health is so bottled up in football.

I had such high hopes for Tony. But he hasn't really developed the way he should've. And now the blatant lack of effort has made him un-defendable.

The disappointing thing, from my perspective, is that Ole has clearly spotted who the wasters are, yet he's continuing to play them or give them a spot on the bench! Tell them to feck off to the U23's and give the spot to a player that's desperate to play for the club (Greenwood or Gomes for instance)

Why didn't one of the coaches talk to him during that warm up? Tell him to move his arse or go back inside and you'll put someone else on the bench.

Remember when people were all about keeping it in closed door?! In this case, it is. No,point making a scene. If the news to be trusted, it's not gen unnoticed and being dealt with behind closed door. So no complaint for me. The leak, "mole" however has been an issue post SAF. Many dressing room leak have come to pass as true.

Fomo player. After scoring against Liverpool on his debut, a few good goals, a great dribble here and a viral trick against Real Madrid in pre-season and we are terrified of letting another Ronaldo go.

This boy ain't no Ronaldo. Let him go.

This time he has only himself to blame it seems. Either he gets his head down and works his socks off or he should be sold pretty soon.

So managers never shout at a player on the pitch? I don't think Ole would be the one bringing it out into the open given the disrespect shown during a public warm up.
