Glad he still offers something when he's not at his best, the sort of performance we need from our attackers if they're having an off game. The assist was delicious though. He was making some great runs today and linking up well.

This plus capable of a magic moment to win you a game......

It’s weird people say he had an off game when he still must have created about 5 or 6 chances for his team mates. He maybe wasn’t the focal attacking point but he was heavily involved in the game and did a lot of really good things.

Made countless runs. That is what pleased me the most and was everywhere as well. I forgot how quick he is. You could sense the defenders panicking everytime he started running with the ball. Imagine we had this kind of talent on the right?

Also, like that he doesn't seem to be tiring as the game goes on. Been evident even before Mourinho was sacked.

His stamina has always been suspect, but it's hard to build that up solely in training when you are playing sporadically. Now that he's playing close to full games consistently (ever since Mourinho finally relented and decided to play him every game), you can see his motor with more gas in the tank. This makes him so much more dangerous as now he doesn't have to be as selective with his runs and can become a danger at any point in the game, especially with the fluidity up front which is going to put him in a lot of dangerous positions with Pogba pulling the strings.

Should try to dribble more. But we are a diffrent team with him on the pitch. Much prefer him to Mata.

French social networks are going crazy for a couple of days with the leak messages thing, especially because he asked the girl on a message "show me your b*tt hole" ^^

It absolutely was the case that his off the ball movement was poor under Mourinho, whether down to him or the manager is a different debate, but now looks far better off the ball and offers so much more.

He’s a constant threat and great to see, as with all the team, look forward to seeing him against a top side.

Firminh0's goals against Arsenal resembles the role martial plays for us.

Martial ability to start our attacks is underrated - he either comes deep to receive the ball (doing.this much more centrally under ole) or takes his man on directly from the centre too. He either makes a quick pass to the most available person when he can to receive the ball again otherwise a player like Pogba can create.

Time we switch Lingard for Martial.

 Probably called sick to lay low for a few days

What do you mean?

I think Lingard is fantastic - however I see Lingard getting the ball in positions where Martial has better capacity to take on the players in front of him.

These positions that Lingard get in to his due to his fantastic positionining - but saying that Martial would only need to to position himself few times a game to be absolutely clinical with his chances.

Lingard is better for a defensive alternative to our attack - possibly even being the highest forward player that puts pressure. Lingard as an attacker is a player that I call a 'pivot' player; he either makes short passes to interchange & pass the ball to attackers around him or he tends to position himself to the point where the attackers around him have less defenders to deal with. Lingard is a pivot that helps the players around him even if he doesn't particularly rack up numbers.

However when we don't need it it's better to have a player like martial drop deep centrally to receive the ball and start our attacks. He can get the numbers, he can come deep, can make short passes & can take the Central defenders on with ease.

The Firminh0' goal where he takes 2 defenders on in to open territory is p*ss easy for a player like martial more so than any other player. In my eyes players who have to defend against martial are always in a 50/50 position of either taking him on or leaving him be. On the wings martial can be allowed to go past the fullback but still is in a position where he can't properly attack - ie being out too wide; but centrally & deep - martial has the ability to come at the CB's with pace and the ball at his feet; having the ability to beat them with a single piece of skill before being one on one with the GK.

You make a good point but as of right now I think where Martial is being played provides balance to our attack in the team.

Martial provide that width which we need because every single ones of our attackers love going inward and playing in the middle, even Martial himself love coming inside and dropping deep as well but he still provide that width.

Martial is also our best dribbler in attack and good 1 on 1 against fullbacks. While it's true Martial playing centrally would be even more beneficial for him(I'm of the same opinion) but the team still need someone to provide some sort of natural width which Martial does unlike everyone else. Him starting wide this providing width then coming inside has been working just fine and it's very integral to our new way of playing.

This is why I'm confident the left wing spot will be his own while the striker potion and especially the right are still up for grab. Though lately with Rashford form one would think he's nailed on that striker role. Martial and Rash should have those 2 spots nailed down for now.

In a way you could say Martial is sacrificed a bit in playing on that left wing role(because like you I believe he's even more deadly centrally and that would also get him a lot closer to goal than on the wing) but him on the left has given us such a good balance and he's good there as well anyways, that it makes sense to keep him there.

His best bet if he doesn't want a few more kids

Assist was excellent, as was the run by him and the pass by Matic.

I thought he was very slightly underpar, but i think i'm use to him shooting more and beating opponents with his mazy dribbles

Beautiful assist today though and generally looks much more deadly under Ole.

People are saying he had an off game? I thought he was really good, kept finding players in the box, like you said it must have been like 5 chances he created, and got a great assist. Superb movement and ball for Rashford’s goal.

Sometimes I think I’m not watching the same match as some people on this site.

I don't get the off game stuff as well. I thought he played really well and his performance was only lacking a goal, but when the team scores 4 it's frivolous to even bring that up as criticism. That outside of the boot curler of an assist though

He had a great game that was just missing a goal. There's been times where that happened and it felt like an underwhelming game, but this was not the case at all. Created a lot of chances, made good runs, had an assist. Great stuff.

He was a little passive in his dribbling but a good all round peformance. Terrific assist and his ability to pick out a forward pass in and around the box is excellent. Even from wide area he usually doesn't just whack it aimlessly but actually passes it to a team mate. The runs in behind were also very encouraging. Glad to see him and Rashford link up for our 3rd goal, something we need to see a lot more of.

93% of his shots this season being on target is actually ridiculous .

Yeah I like that about him. He doesn't take stupid shots like Suarez at Liverpool a few seasons ago just to score.

While I agree his stats suggests he is smart to know when to shoot and when to not, it also proves his finishing is very good. He has only shot 19 times in the league this season, which is a bit ridiculous if we compare it to Shaw at 14 shots or even Pogba with 53. He is our most proficient finisher so we clearly need to look into this and work on utilising him in a way that puts him in positions to shoot more often.

It is not only important because it will help us score more goals, but after the treatment he got from Mourinho we have to show that we want him to score and be important. Hopefully he signs a new contract soon:nervous:

Martial does not look happy in the last game. If you check all the goal celebrations, he does not celebrate like other players. Something tells me that he is thinking of leaving.

Go have a look at his celebration for the assist he made for Rashford.

Strange post.

Had another look. I was probably just being overly sensitive. Martial isn't one who will charge to the scorer to celebrate, but I did see the smiles on his face.
